  1. I think the problem is with the voter pool. It's skewered towards "old school" enthusiasts who are not as well traveled or vote based on history/rides they had on a ride 10-20 years ago. They've done a better job of increasing the pool (Myself & Dan among others were added as voters 3-4 years ago), but not enough to overcome the bias.
  2. There was probably more USC fans in the stadium than Syracuse fans. And only the lower bowl was anywhere close to full. Me and Dan were about 5 sections away from the Syracuse band and could barely hear them. The place is purpose built to be as bland and boring as possible so both teams can use it...I'm sure it's probably a bit louder with 85,000 fans though. I agree with that statement though. We got asked at least 10 times around town if there was a game, since "I saw a bunch of people in USC gear." Syracuse is probably still making money on the deal, but that whole "we are NY's college team" plan failed. Though I imagine schools like ND and USC probably wouldn't have taken a home & home if they had to play in the Carrier Dome.
  3. ^I wonder if Coke makes the butterbeer syrup? Even if you're not a fan of all these projects, you have to be excited that Comcast is willing to spend so much on a business everyone thought they would neglect! All of these projects cannot be cheap...
  4. Considering the braking is all done by the magnets, chances are pretty good that it wasn't a braking issue. However, rain can cause the wheels to hydroplane...
  5. Love it! The water park industry has really stepped up its game in the last 5 years.
  6. ^The adage of "you have to spend money to make money" is especially true in the theme park industry. I am glad Comcast sees the value of the theme parks!
  7. Interesting that he would directly address "rumors" about Pirate Shores at a press event. Sounds like an indirect confirmation to me.
  8. I would be terrified I was one of those stuck guests. Anyone want to take bets on how long it takes before someone sues for emotional distress?
  9. How bout them razorbacks? P.S. Metlife Field sucks for college football.
  10. A friend of mine just posted a picture on Facebook of them already starting to cut the steel structure.
  11. I'm bias to Queen Mary's Dark Harbor. The mazes on the ship are naturally creepy. And the container ship entrance is pretty unique.
  12. It will be interesting to see if they jump right into construction of the new project, or just clear Perilous Plunge and let the area sit for a bit. That will be telling of what kind of project it is.
  13. I'm going to go out on a limb by guessing that the citizens of Marshall, WI are not theme park nerds and simply enjoy having any sort of amusement park in their community. Just a hunch.
  14. ^Cost and weight. Other companies make the same rides for less, and their big traveling rides are too heavy for the U.S. (The only traveling Top Spin in the U.S. has to go by train).
  15. ^Yeah, the ones without anybody with a future in the NFL or NBA. I'm not justifying it. I am just being realistic. Star athletes are being approached by unscrupulous individuals from the second they are identified as a potential star, starting as early as middle school. It starts with all those AAU teams, 7-on-7 football teams, camps they attend, and so on that are all very shady and only gets worse from there. Boosters who want glory (see Nevin Shapiro), agents or wannabe agents who want new clients (see Reggie Bush/O.J. Mayo), and so on. The NCAA needs to update its rulebook to account for the mess that is "amateur" football and basketball.
  16. ^California really seems like a black hole of the cruise industry. I blame Carnival, since they still operate a bunch of cruises out of here...
  17. Is there such thing as a "clean" program anymore? There's too many shady people (booth school boosters and outside sources) trying to leech off of star football and basketball players, it is almost a given that someone is directly or indirectly (through family/friends) giving benefits to a player.
  18. ^Absolutely. Unlimited front of line (remember, last year the regular front of the line passes were only 1 time use per attraction/maze), the cool tour, and the lounge available all night. Definitely the way to go if you are traveling and only have 1 chance to see the event.
  19. The ride ops do that. There is a peddle that lowers the audio so they can spiel. The pedal is probably purposely wedged under the console.
  20. Themeing in a theme park? WHAAAAAAAAAA?
  21. If you get to the park early (as in---5:30-6:00pm), you can hit the mazes with minimal waits.
  22. I think I am most excited for House of Horrors, just to see their take on it vs. the year round maze in Hollywood.
  23. They're bringing back the Dolphin show!
  24. I think Georgia benefits from being the most consistent program in the Eastern division over the last decade...everyone just assumes they must be good because they come from the mighty SEC and won their division (which, if you take away Tim Tebow, has not been that strong over the last decade). Which basically means they become LSU and Alabama's bitch when it matters.
