Burbank Airport is pretty small, so you should be out of there pretty quickly once you deplane. Seeing that your first day at the park is a Sunday, you should be able to get there within an hour of park opening if everything goes smoothly. There typically isn’t much traffic on Sunday mornings between Burbank and Valencia, and the park typically doesn’t get crowded until the afternoons on Sundays. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Burbank uses airstairs, so you can deplane from the back door of the plane. But if you’re Landing 30 min prior to park opening, unless you have no checked bag and your ride waiting for you, 1hr after park opens might be slightly aggressive. Definitely within the first 2hrs though.

What parks are you visiting in 2020?
Jew replied to VF15's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Definitely Orlando/Tampa at some point. Everything else is still TBD. Trying to tie sports and parks together on smaller trips I can take during my weekends. -
Universal Studios Japan (USJ) Discussion Thread
Jew replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I look at app integration as a fun distraction while waiting in line for something and a new way to engage annual pass holders, who visit frequently enough that they don't care about the details as much since they've seen them all. -
Fatal accident at La Feria Chapultepec Magico
Jew replied to IntraTrax's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My guess would be Six Flags is interested in trying to get operating fees from the park in some sort of partnership with the City who is presumably desperate to move forward after the accident. -
Universal Studios Japan (USJ) Discussion Thread

I am cautiously optimistic given Universal does have experience with interactive stuff with the Potter wands. I imagine this will be something similar where the bands can trigger simple practical effects in the land in addition to whatever they do in the app. -

Thunder Mountain is the only ride where it isn't marked by signage, but screamscape has to keep those clicks coming somehow with all the ads on the side. -

The strategy they should have enacted right after blackfish. Build lots of rides and move animals to the background (while still doing all the good work they do for animals). -

I believe it has already been presented to one of the planning bodies that needs to approve it, hence how it got out. -
They said that about Starbucks. Look who' laughing now. Definitely not the owners of American Dream, but Starbucks for sure. Edit - Also, who the hell decided Woodland Hills would be a prime location for a destination mall? Nobody I know that lives south of the hills ever visits the Valley unless it's life or death. You can't get someone from Hollywood to visit Encino even if you offered free tacos. Well, Westfield spent a ton of money to remodel the Topanga Plaza mall about 5 years ago and built a whole new outdoor shopping area (Westfield Village) with a bunch of shops and restaurants right next to it as well. So there is definitely sufficient demand. A minor league baseball stadium was ALMOST built there as well (Angels blocked it from happening). Valley has a large population base and there is lots of money nearby from Woodland Hills, Calabaasas, Encino, West Hills, etc. Would be a good spot for an indoor park of some sort IF Triple 5 went that route (speculation is that it will be a mixed use residential/office/retail community).

Bringing this back from the dead! In April I visited the new comiskey park and hung out with Zach. The stadium is very bland and was devoid of energy since the white sox suck, but it had a great view of the city. The exterior was trying to go for that "classic, but modern" look that was all the rage in the 90s stadiium building spree. Second favorite part of stadium: looks like they took an underutilized club space and opened it up to everyone as the Revolution Brewery club. Good food and beer. And covered seating on a first come first serve basis was great since it rained! As a Dodger fan, this statue makes me mad. But it's par for the course for the Dodgers to give up on eventually Hall of Fame talent...Adrian Beltre, Pedro Martinez, Paul Konerko... Outside there was a monument to the great moments in their history Good beer selection too One of the highlights is the great view of the Chicago skyline from the top deck And the parking lot where the former Comiskey Park stood notes its former location with the infield as part of the pavement. New for last season was this Goose Island bar and section. Loved the train car theme. Obligatory overview photo For most of you, public transportation to your local stadium is normal. For me in LA, it's not. So I appreciated having the train be able to take me from my airpot hotel, to the stadium, and then on to my airbnb in Wrigleyville with ease. As part of the Goose Island sponsorship, they added this premium section. Probably the most unique thing about the stadium. Obligatory concourse photo. Can't tell it apart from any others.

Sort of related to this: Triple 7 is also in escrow on a 47 acre plot of land in Los Angeles (Woodland Hills to be precise) that was the former rocketdyne jet engine factory. It already sits across the street from a mall (Westfield Topanga Plaza). Aside from the obvious joke that buying a toxic site is sort of fitting for them, will be interesting to see if anything comes from this.

Express worked great during our visit in October! Of course, that was day before typhoon was to hit, so that probably impacted the crowds. Was able to get a ride at park opening using single rider with a walk on, express later in the day was only 15, and even got a second night time express ride (granted HHN stuff was in going on) waiting about 20 min.

Physics Day at Random Amusement Parks
Jew replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I went to one at SFMM in middle school. Was basically just ride a few rides with an accelerometer, get a speech from someone at the park, and then enjoy the rest of the day! -

What I like most about this is that you don't have to know Star Wars to appreciate it. The story tells itself well with all the tech and immersion, which is what I think the land sorely needed as a whole (I would guest most people know Star Wars from the recognizable items like Millennium Falcon, Chewy, lightsabers, R2D2, and Stormtroopers and don't fully appreciate the details the land has from the newer movies) to feel complete. -

I have a hard time believing they would disrupt their current models of crowd control by linking the parks so easily. -
IAAPA 2019 Trade Show Updates from TPR!
Jew replied to jedimaster1227's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Being done behind the scenes. Stuff like the Axis coaster was probably being shown at last years IAAPA in private and just now ready to be put on display after the prototype was built. I've seen some photos of other neat ride concepts on display on the floor, but I will defer to TPR coverage to show those off! I also imagine the shift to more train unveilings is because most of the "traditional" media is only there for day 1, so the focus is on parks trying to grab some media attention for themselves.
