Busch Gardens Tampa Bay (BGT Discussion Thread)
Jew replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
To each their own. B&M’s are what they are: they look pretty and are reliable, so parks will keep buying them. The 2019 coaster poll results speak to what I am saying: the first B&M comes in at number 11. The next B&M hyper/giga is all the way at 27. Intamin, RMC, and Mack dominate the list since they push the envelope much more -

This world. Sure they are awe inspiring to someone who hasn’t seen it before, but for us coaster nerds...you’ve been on 1 B&M Hyper, you’ve practically been on all them. They are still fun, but nowhere near my top 10. -

New B&M’s are fun, but nothing spectacular. RMC’s are non stop airtime and forces. -

I remember reading somewhere that there would be a themed transport to take you from the hotel into the parks (presumably something like the Hogwarts Express windows on a themed bus), so I also assume they will just make up some story to transport you back from the real world to the hotel. -
Busch Gardens Williamsburg (BGW BGE) Discussion Thread
Jew replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It seems silly to say that’s great service since its the right thing to do, so many concert ticket holders are stuck holding tickets for concerts that have been “rescheduled” instead of canceled, so kudos to them! -

Before this thread derails off course into a COVID discussion, I’ll just keep it simple: everyone should follow their state and local guidelines. This isn’t something up for debate on TPR. Now back to your regularly scheduled BGW discussion. -

The flaw with the tiers is a one size fits all approach. Newsom touted how San Fransisco was able to move into the yellow tier...with a population of 850,000 and a total area of 46 square miles. As well as the highest housing costs in the country and a median income of $130k. So basically, you don’t actually live in San Fran unless you’re a millionaire. Of course they can afford to safely stay home. Totally comparable to Santa Cruz County, with less population (250k), but 445 square miles of land and a median income that is half is much, so people in Santa Cruz actually have to work and travel to get places. Or larger counties like LA county and Orange County, with 10m and 3m people respectively...

That’s a whole new level of unnecessary marketing. Unless they’re still dealing with their payment issues with RMC, might as well just open the ride... -

We would have known because CGA would still have to have filed permits with the FAA for permission to build the ride. -
Six Flags [FUN] Corporate Discussion Thread
Jew replied to davidmorton's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Don’t think it’s about number of coasters, it’s about differentiating yourself in a market that includes so many options. My friends see six flags as the roller coaster/thrills park here too, so being able to brag about 20 coasters only reinforces that. Fun fact: outside of Superman, roaring rapids is the second most expensive ride at the park to operate. The pumps draw a ton of power. Jet Stream is in the top 5 as well for the same reason. Would not be the least bit surprised if magic mountain has plans to remove all of them for a water ride that is more energy efficient in the next few years. -
There are other jobs available. Not even close to a fair comparison. And I’m someone who is a causality of this nonsense. The rational argument you should be making is how if the goal is to keep people from congregating and spreading the virus, why isn’t everything shut down? Costco on the weekend is a madhouse. Same for malls. Even Sea World operating as a “zoo” and Knotts as “outdoor dining” being open makes no sense if the goal is to keep people from spreading the virus. What magical powers to rides have to spread the virus?

Any thoughts on what 2021 will look like!?
Jew replied to ricklap77's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thank you for your very valuable contribution to the discussion. Meanwhile my post cited aspects of 2020 that I hope are different in 2021. You know, the topic of the conversation. *shrug* Not going to argue with you. You didn’t need to have such a petty reply since the original comment is relevant to the topic. He didn’t need to reply after. Both of you move on now please.
