Prayers for my friend and his family please...
Movieguy replied to Jordan Shankman's topic in Random, Random, Random
Oh my god...that is such a horrible thing to happen to someone so young. I am deeply sorry for your loss. You and your family and friends will definitely be in my prayers. -
Nightmare on Skaife Road
Movieguy replied to Shockwave's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've never had to deal with my passport like that, but I know how frustrating it is to lose important stuff. You did the right thing by just sitting down and thinking. That's best way to remember. -
Well, summer's coming soon, and that means a lot of ice cream is going to be served, so this had me thinking. Assuming you even like ice cream, what is your favorite flavor(s)? I have three big favorites: -Cookie Dough -Mint Chocolate Chip -Black Raspberry

This is pretty simple. Just tell us all what you like to snack on. Here are some of my favorites: I'm not a big candy muncher, but Starburst fruit chews are by far a favorite snack of mine. I also enjoy having some nerds or a Chunky every now and then. Popcorn is a huge favorite of mine. I could munch on that stuff all day long. And I love Peanuts in the shell. They're as fun to break open as they are to eat. I don't eat a lot of chips, but there's this company called Martins which makes great Kettle Cooked chips. I usually wash it down with a diet soda, but I'll have a nice Coca-Cola with it sometimes too. I prefer Coke over Pepsi because it has more of a bite to it that I enjoy. I like root beer too, especially Barq's root beer.

Robb, I should tell you that I'm not planning on spending ALL of that 8,000 dollars. that's basically all I have in the bank now, and I'm going to need a lot of that in the future to cover rent and monthly student loan bills. Just to let you know. But I do agree with you about how it's all how you use your disposable income. I for instance, am willing to stop buying DVDs and other frivolous things for a while if it'll allow me to save up a little more money for this trip I'm planning. Mind you I've never planned a trip like this before, so I'll have to get some help from my experienced father, as well as anyone else. And don't worry, booking through Disney was NEVER an option for me, hehehe.

Memorable or annoying songs
Movieguy replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
One memorable song for me is the one on the Mexico ride in Epcot. It's cheesy, sure, but it has a lot more words to it than IASW, and there's a spanish version. It can get stuck in my head, and I won't even care. -
I really don't know how to take this. I've been planning to visit WDW for my vacation, and I have almost $8,000 in the bank, which I don't plan on spending all of. Trouble is, I'm going to need a lot of this money, because this is from a job where I only make $7.00 an hour (I've had it for over a year and a half now.) Not only do I have I have to pay about $160.00 every month for student loan repayments, But I have other expenses, including rent. To put it simply, I basically don't have the luxury of being able to stay at a $300 a night resort, especially when you factor in the cost of airline tickets, park tickets, food, etc. I really tremble now for what the lines are gonna be like in most of WDW. I know the rest of you seem to like this idea, but that's probably because you have the money to burn for it. I really don't. And I don't think a hard working man like myself should be treated like a second class guest simply because I can't seem to get a higher paying job.

Favorite Dark Ride
Movieguy replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Haunted Mansion will always be my favorite darkride. It's strange. I've had a fascination with darkrides, even though I've mostly been too scared to go on many of them. I also really enjoyed the darkrides from the old days of EPCOT, Horizons, World of Motion, and the original Journey into Imagination. I'm happy that Spaceship Earth's still around...for now. Very nice. I've loved both the PS and PS2, so I'll definitely look into getting one of these once the time is right. I agree with Meteornotes, when a new system comes out, it's best to wait a year or two before actually getting it.

Parks Coasters and Rides in Movies and TV
Movieguy replied to spike's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1977's Rollercoaster was an interesting movie, but one that came out at the wrong time, I think. Universal should do a re-make, give it a higher budget, get permission to use some high profile parks (It could even be a joint venture between Universal and another studio or two) I'm not sure who could play George Segal's part, but I'd probably pick the eternally creepy Crispin Glover to play the bomber that Timothy Bottoms originally portrayed. -
Wow...words fail me just looking at such a bizzare thing.

Convince Elissa's Mom to Ride USF's Mummy!
Movieguy replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
hehe, That's the one thing that's been making me reconsider chosing Universal/IOA as my vacation destination. This ride and others at Universal I am a big whimp when it comes to dark rides. I mean it, ever since I was scared S***less by Honey I shrunk the Audience when I was younger, I've been absoulutely terrified of things that jump out at me. When I went to see "It's tough to be a bug" I had to keep myself from closing my eyes all the time, which is something I do when I enter the dark section of any ride I'm unfamiliar with now, and still I was screaming like a girl through most of it It's so embarrasing too, being a coaster fan and all. If anyone knows how to help someone with this phobia, I'd love to hear the advice. -
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

But still, that doesn't explain why Luke doesn't remember her at all. -
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
Movieguy replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Random, Random, Random
Well, I saw it today and I thought it was great. Yeah, so the dialogue wasn't so great. So what? There was sub-par stuff like that in the original trilogy as well. Remember in Empire when a young cadet asked "Two fighters against a star destroyer?" in such a lame-duck, amatuer acting fashion? By the way, I think Ian McDirmaid did a superb job as Palpatine in this movie. Mind you, I didn't like Episode I or II either, but in this one I felt like the action actually had a purpose behind it. And I loved how they didn't hold back when they showed how Anakin ended up having to have the vader suit put on him. There's one thing that did bug me though, and that was the death of Padme. Not for that whole "lost the will to live" thing, I wasn't as nit-picky about that as Wes apparently was. But remember how in "Return of The Jedi" when Luke asked Leia if she remembered her late mother, and said that she did, but only a little bit?...well how could she remember her at all if she died just after she and Luke were born? Even if it were physically possible for her to remember that far back, wouldn't that mean that Luke, mr "I never knew my mother" would have remembered something too? Or maybe she was talking about her adopted mother on Alderaan. I don't know. Other than that, I enjoyed this movie a hell of a lot more than the other two prequels. The original trilogy will always be the best, but this one came pretty close. -
Requirements for Universal's Fear Factor Live
Movieguy replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, I'm just under the weight limit (I've been teetering between 215 and 220) but I still don't think I'd do this. I'm too easily freaked out a person. -
Watch a video of Knott's Berry Farm!
Movieguy replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Very interesting video. I wasn't even aware that Silver bullet existed until I saw that video and looked at rcdb afterward. Shows you how long out of the loop I've been for the last couple of years with coasters. I still laugh every time I realize that they have a coaster called Montezuma's revenge. For those that didn't already know this, Montezuma's Revenge is also used as a term for diarrhea. -
Eh, to me "Smack my B**** up" is one of the most over-used techno songs of all time. If I hear it used in ONE more theatrical preview or movie, I will physically harm somebody. Otherwise, great video. I've never been to SFMM, but it looks like it has plenty of nice coasters to choose from.

That's certainly out of the ordinary right there. Especially when you consider how mean crows can be sometimes.

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
Movieguy replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Random, Random, Random
I've got my ticket for this afternoon, thanks to movietickets.com, and I'm very hopeful about this one. I think the main problem with the prequels is that George Lucas really only had enough material for about 2 movies rather than three. And I read that about 60% of the stuff he had written during the 70's (before the the stories that became episodes IV-VI) is in Revenge of The Sith. Plus, I also read that Hayden Christensen won't be playing the same whiny Anakin anymore, like he did in Episode II, where he was told to keep his voice a bit higher than normal. -
I've liked almost any kind of soda out there. In fact I think I was the only guy in the universe who actually liked Pepsi Blue. I'm just more open minded when it comes to the taste of soda i guess. This sounds pretty good, but I'd like to see a Strawberry flavored coke myself. In my town we sell strawberry soda put out by Goya, and that stuff's really good.

The Worlds Gayest Theme Parks
Movieguy replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, let's not let this discussion turn ugly. I've seen too much of that garbage on other forums. I really don't want it to creep into this place. -
The Worlds Gayest Theme Parks
Movieguy replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Actually, I think the Kansas guy you're thinking of is Fred Phelps. Falwell's from Virginia I think. Again, seeing stuff like the Matthew Sheppard incident, which ended up in Phelps and his followers having that demonstration outside of his funeral, not to mention the gay night club that got bombed in Atlanta back in the 90's, again makes me wonder why any gay man would want to risk even going out into the Red States. As for WDW, I think it's awfully brave of them to be doing something like this. I remember going to Intercot.com and seeing certain people complaining about the gay days there. -
The Worlds Gayest Theme Parks
Movieguy replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
SFOG made the list?... Funny, I didn't know there were still gay people who dared to live in The South. No offense to any southerners who post here, but it just doesn't seem like a particularly accepting region when it comes to homosexuals. When I think of that place, guys like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson immediately come to mind for me.
