  1. Yeah. I'm fairly moderate to liberal in my politcal views, and I had two gay roomates in college who I got along with just fine. But, I do think that something like this is a bit excessive. Worst of all, by doing this around families who may not of been aware of this, these men are basically helping to perpetuate the stereotype of gay men being nothing but hard partying, cross-dressing wild men who can't keep their hands off each other, and that's not a good message to send to children especially, since their brains absorb tons of things at that age. If they see gay men acting like that in public, they're going to grow up thinking they're ALL like that. I was lucky, because I grew up with a mom who knew a gay couple in town, and they were nothing like that. But most kids don't get that kind of exposure in the real world outside of WDW.
  2. I'm surprised that SF even let this show acknowledge the existence of Darien Lake, which rivals only SFEG as most neglected SF park ever. It's so sad that one of the only things going for this park is a Veklona that seems to beat its riders heads into so much of a mushy pulp, that they actually are fooled into thinking it's good. I've moaned about SFDL before, but really, they have problems that could easily be cured by having a better staff and maybe...I don't know....GETTING SIX FLAGS TO GIVE US A NEW COASTER FOR ONCE!!! Doug "Come on SF, when's it gonna be our time?" Booth
  3. Well, my favorite queue has always been Space Mountain at WDW, and POTC. The worst is probably any CP coaster, which consists of mainly standing and waiting outside in the sun.
  4. Ok, there's been a change. My AAA agent called a little while ago and said that she had made a mistake when she had called Disney. There were no openings in the Carribean Beach resort after all. However, there was an opening at one of the all-star resorts, so she got me that, and ended up saving me $400 in the process ^^
  5. Well, I'm happy to report that I am now booked for the trip. I ended up going to AAA, and even though some of you may argue that I got ripped off by not doing this through orbitz or Travelocity, I found the price of one of their package deals to be very reasonable, since I had the money for it. The trip is set for the middle of July, and includes 4 nights at a resort. I tried to get one of the value resorts, but they were all booked to the rest of the month. So, I went with the moderately priced Carribean Beach Resort. With that I got 5 day park hopper tickets (I'll have some more time to spend at the parks before I leave.) and I'm pretty well covered for meals as well, and the flights have been arranged too. So it's official now. I AM going to Disneyworld
  6. Well, say what you will about those agencies, I'm still going to look at this one my dad goes to a lot, and make up my own mind about it. Also, I've been looking at all of these TR posts in the forum, and thinking that I'd love to do the same thing for my WDW trip. If only I could afford a good enough camera. (Something tells me those cheap disposable cameras I usually get aren't going to cut it for something like this.)
  7. Apu's always been a favorite of mine. I also like Patty + Selma, and Otto, because I do great impressions of them
  8. See, it's like I've been saying. SFDL is the neglected child of the SF parks. The reasons this place is so inferior to all the other parks is location among all other things. For example: 1. The shitty Upstate NY weather. (it is ALWAYS raining up here!) 2. The State Government sticks its nose in everything. Nothing ever gets done in this state, thanks to all the red tape and bickering in the legislature. It's no wonder businesses are leaving. 3. Not enough people live up here to generate interest from SF. Especially when all the the young people are leaving. Hey, would YOU want to live in a cold rainy place this day and age? (Why am I still here? I can't find work anywhere else.) 4. Taxes, taxes, taxes! This probably belongs in 2, but I have to stress this part. It seems that the NYS government's answer to everything is "find something else to tax!" Can you imagine a company like SF trying to operate in that enviornment? You know what they should try here? A big indoor park. I'm sure my Buffalo friend has heard at least once about Syracuse and the DestiNY USA project, which would take the carousel mall there and add a HUGE expansion to it, one that would make the Mall of America look like the tiny Pyramid mall here in Ithaca. Plenty of room for a park in a place like that, I'd say. Unfortunately, something's happened. And if you guessed that the State Government has halted the thing in loads of red tape, and given it an uncertain future, you're absolutely correct! So be sure to keep your eyes on the news when the Pyramid company opens it's planned massive mall in Pennsylvania, or Ohio, or Jersey, or anyplace else other than here, while our State legislature wastes time arguing about whether the "NYC liberals" were to blame or not. *sigh* welcome to New York
  9. What is one experience you had at a park that you always try to forget? For me it was when I went to Geauga Lake in the late 90's. Not for the park itself, but the people there. There were these two girls who showed up at every place I went. The first time I saw them, one of them simply said "What's your problem, ugly boy?" I tried to forget it, but every place I went, there they were. Like a bad rash, they just wouldn't go away. They'd make fun of my appearance, and my clothes each time, either in my face, or behind my back. I went to Sea World the next day, hoping to have a better time, but sure enough, the girls where there too, and brought their boyfriend with them this time as they'd make their little snide remarks any chance they got. God, if wasn't such a restrained young man, I would have strangled one of them or cussed one of them out. I hated those girls. Kinda explains why I'm a bit of a loner, and don't really approach women too often. Too many bad experiences. But enough about me, have any of you had sucky days at a park before?
  10. Well, I think for my first experience in travel planning, I should do it around real people and not on the internet. There are some travel agencies in town, and my dad's looking into which one I should talk to.
  11. Hey all. Just thought I'd let you know that I decided that for my solo vacation I will be going to Orlando and visiting WDW, a place I haven't seen for 6 years. I considered Universal, but that place is loaded with intense darkrides, and I'm a big chicken when it comes to those things. So I'm gonna go back to a place I already know I love, and see what's new. Now I just have to figure out when and how I'm going to get there, and where I should stay. My key decisions are: 1. Who to plan this trip with 2. What Airline to book 3. Planning ahead to deal with the headaches of the airport (delays, security, etc.) 4. Transportation to lodging. (I don't have a driver's license yet.) 5. Finding suitable lodging in or around WDW, and not spending a ton of money to stay there. (It's true I have nearly $8,000 in savings, but I can't spend it all on this trip. I need a lot of it to take care of my monthly expenses, including student loan repayments, and rent.) 6. Planning and purchasing tickets for the parks. I mainly would like to see MK, EPCOT, and MGM. I might also go see Downtown Disney if I have the time. Are Park Hopper tickets the way to go? This and any other advice you may have for me would be greatly appreciated. My Dad's going to help me too, but he's got a lot of other things to take care of at the moment. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I hope I can plan all this soon, while I still have the money.
  12. I can't believe they left out Alien. That film is a a sci-fi/gothic horror classic that still gives me the creeps to this day.
  13. You...love TOGO's?... Tell me?...do you enjoy ramming your head into brick walls repeatedy as well? Doug "They're both kinda the same thing..." Booth
  14. Well, the country has enough steel coasters, so here's hoping that Holiday World continues its quest to become Woodie Capital of The USA!
  15. "Where are you from?" "I'm from Cleveland..." "Ah, so this isn't much of a change for you!" Next movie: Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion
  16. "What? You don't think I know how to get myself off? Half of band camp is about sex you know...so, are we gonna screw some or what?" Next movie: Full Metal Jacket
  17. "I totally possesed my dad!" Next movie: Major League
  18. Well, I'm sorry you had to have that woman at the Shamu show harass you and most likely re-inforce the stereotypes of the "ignorant American." Hey, I love this country and the life I've been able to live in it, but I would hate it if someone accused me of being "ignorant" or somehow un-american just because I don't shout "suport our troops!" or "America kicks ass!" on a regular basis, or cover the house in American flags and yellow ribbons, or blast Toby Keith 24 hours a day. You can love America and not be a fanatic about it you know. Anyway, I'm glad you seemed to have such a good time over there in Orlando. I've been planning a visit myself sometime in the future while I've still got the extra money to.
  19. Wow. Hades sounds like quite a ride. Wish I could go to that park at some point. Too bad about no Greek food though. You think they could at least get some pizza with feta cheese, or maybe even a Gyro stand. But hey, this is Wisconson we're talking about. Not too many mediterranian types live there. If this were built in New York, Greek fare would have been a natural choice. Of course building it in New York would have also met eternal Red Tape, higher taxes, and constant thunderstorms
  20. I've never had to deal with the know-it-all types in line, but I have had the obnoxious types stand in line with me. I remember going to WDW once and standing in line for Space Mountain. A couple of teens were in back of me having all kinds of engaging conversations. Here's a sample of one such illuminating exchange. Idiot 1: (feigning fear as we enter a dark area of the queue) Oh wow, I'm so scared. Idiot 2: Really? are you gonna shit an eggroll? (both idiots continue to laugh and talk about stupid stuff) The funny thing is, right in the middle of one of their idiotic exchanges, my sunglasses suddenly came apart and fell off of my face! It was as if their aura of combined stupidity was somehow affecting the enviornment.
  21. Coasterfanatic's was pretty good, but angry gumball's is still a classic for me. That's why I was one of the two who voted for that
  22. Man, I remember the old days of Nickelodeon, back when they used to film those game shows there all the time. Nick Arcade, Legends of The Hidden Temple, and GUTS were a few of my favorites. So it doesn't surprise me that this place has closed other than the ownership issue. Today Nick is all about the Nicktoons, which is really a shame in some ways.
  23. That's a really good video. Wonderful POV as well. Though the guy talking on that thing reminded me of those awful coaster specials on the Discovery Channel, where they have people talking while they're riding. "And this is where whaaaaaagh!...haha, l love this ride!" Spare me...
  24. ^ Would you like that by cash or charge? Seriously though, I know arguments are going to come along in these places no matter what, I've got no problems with arguments themselves. I was just trying to make sure that this didn't turn into a flame war, which is why I brought up Thrillnetwork at the end of my last post.
  25. Geez Wes, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but did you really need to use terms like "Magical blow job" to express yours? C'mon, lets keep things civil here everyone. Doug "If I wanted to read nasty posts about the viewpoints of others, I'd go to Thrillnetwork.com" Booth.
