  1. Upstate NY has four kinds of weather: Cloudy, Partly cloudy, hazy, and overcast. But for the first few days this past week, it was actually warm and sunny. All was good until Wednesday, when, surprise, a cold front came through, bringing showers and cooler temperatures for the rest of the week, as well as lots of clouds. That's how it goes up here, if the temperature goes anywhere above 60 or 70, you're punished with a cold front.
  2. Again, I don't know why people think Mean Streak is so unbearably rough. I've been on raging Wolf Bobs, and to me that was a hell of a lot rougher than Mean Streak ever was. I don't know though, like I said, I haven't been on very many woodies, so I may just not know what I'm missing out on.
  3. I've never seen Pretty in Pink or 16 Candles, I usually stay away from those types of movies, but I make a huge exception where The Breakfast club is concerned. It is, without a doubt, an all time classic of the 1980's. What I love the most is that it goes beyond the usual "Pretty White kids with problems" format (As MAD TV so elequently put it) and really examines high school culture in a way that had never been done before. Since then, of course, other films have tried to copy this examination in less than interesting ways, but Breakfast Club was one of the first, and the best I might add.
  4. Watermelon flavored soda...it's a wonder no one's thought of doing that in this country, considering how popular watermelon is in a lot of places.
  5. I'm glad to see someone else out there liked Pepsi Blue. To me the stuff tasted like the carbonated juice of gummi worms. Very sweet, and interesting. I really don't know why a lot of people hated it. I guess I have a much more accepting pallete when it comes to soda.
  6. Interesting... I wasn't sure if Itallian job counted as a coaster. But I guess it does.
  7. Well, I always liked my woodies a bit rough. That's why I've always defended Mean Streak from it's detractors, many of whom I feel have been spoiled over the years by CCI woodies (Though I've never been on one, so I don't know what those feel like.) The Vekoma woodies sound nice, maybe they should build more of them to build up their reputation some more.
  8. PCW's a nice park. It'd be even nicer if they'd get a new coaster sometime, like all the other Paramount parks have in the last few years.
  9. Well, I've never tasted a soda I didn't like. Hell, you're even talking to someone who liked both Crystal Pepsi and Pepsi Blue. But i did have to draw the line with Pepsi's rancid holiday spice flavor, and if I couldn't handle that, I don't think I could handle the beverly from the sound of it
  10. I know it's a chain restaurant, but Cracker Barrel has some of the best food I've ever eaten. Great breakfasts, and they make a hell of a chicken fried steak too. The first one I ever went to was in Florida near Jacksonville, but they have one up here in Watertown now, as well as near Buffalo. Joy
  11. hahahaha! I see someone else has heard that recording
  12. Yeah, after hearing about some of the stuff this coaster can do, I find it very hard to believe that Powderkeg was ever intended to be a family coaster.
  13. Ok, I know all about dealing with unreasonable customers, but for crying out loud, did he really have to stand in wait for them just so he could throw a cup at them? I've had certain customers I felt like I wanted to deck myself, but I've never actually done it.
  14. Well, with all the hooplah over gay marriage, there still seem to be politicians who support civil unions as opposed to marriage, and that's about as tolerant as most americans are going to be of this thing for now, so if I were gay, I'd just be greatful that American tolerance seems to have been increased to the level of Civil unions at least. Of course, even civil unions would NEVER be accepted in the red states, but that's just fine with the rest of the country. Remember the concept of states rights? It's funny how these Conservatives say they are all about states rights and such, but when it comes to stuff like Massachsusetts allowing gay marriage, they have no problem with the federal government intervening. Oh yeah, they'll get the government off your back, but they're still gonna have the government tell you what you can do behind closed doors.
  15. So, another relic of the infamous Jim Baker's legacy is torn down. Can't say it saddens me too much, but it is a shame to see any water park slide torn down for whatever reason.
  16. Well, they're certainly dedicated over there at Universal. I saw on a travel channel special, that EVERY night after IOA closes, people come in and repaint virtually everything in the park. That's caring about your appearance, folks.
  17. Believe it or not there's a good authentic mexican Restaurant up here in Ithaca, run by an actual Mexican. It's called Viva Taqueria, and it has the best and biggest burritos I have ever seen.
  18. A lot has happened since yesterday. After some tweaking, I was finally able to access the router using my Linksys adapter. Unfortunately, I would lose the connection about a half-hour after gaining it, and restarting the computer would be the only way to get it re-connected. Then I disabled XP's Wireless Zero Configuration utility, which i then discovered may have been the source of my problems with the old Netgear MA111 adapter. So I installed it, and got it working this time without any problems. One problem though, the Netgear adapter can't even detect my router while it scans, which I guess may be because I disabled Wireless Zero Configuration. It looks like I'll have to configure the connection manually. I have the information written down to do it, I just don't know where I have to do it on XP, because I'm not finding anything about IP addresses or Network keys anywhere.
  19. Oh yeah, I forgot about the redone version of SM set open this summer. It'll be interesting to see how much they've improved this old favorite.
  20. hehehe, that's good old Vekoma for you, or as I like to call them, VEKLONA
  21. Well, I've always been somewhat of a chicken with dark thrill-rides and shows, ever since Honey I shrunk The Audience scared the bee-jezus out of me, but I guess that's because I wasn't expecting it to be that intense, hehe. Now that I'm planning to see USF which has a ton of dark thrill rides, I'll just have to master the art of keeping my eyes open and telling myself. "It's just a ride, it's just a ride"
  22. Oh, god I know. The nerve of some parents. The way they think sometimes in those situations is just mind boggling. And they're not much better at the grocery store either, let me tell you, being a cashier and all. Doug "And they're setting such a wonderful example for the kids too... " Booth
  23. Damn right. Too often radicals, from both ends of the political spectrum, are so wrapped up about this and that right, that they forget that the other side has rights too. PETA is a perfect example of this sort of blind fanaticism.
  24. Well, maybe they wanted to give the thing a Magic kingdom feel as well as a disneyland feel. Anyway, it opened back in the early 1980's and I don't think they've changed it too much since then (Other than adding DisneySea of course), so there's bound to be some descrepancies I guess.
  25. hehehe, also, if you wanna see some more great swipes at PETA, there's also a hilarious epsiode of South Park you should check out. They protest the use of the Cow as South Park's school mascot by throwing blood all over the kids and the teachers, and there's some other stuff too. Doug "Whoo-hoo 100th post!! (ok, that's out of my system now ^_^) Booth
