Ok Wes, thanks for clearing that up. I just didn't fully understand what you were saying. And i agree with you 100% about those student film types. Whenever I think of those kinds of structureless films, I always think of that scene from a Family Guy episode where the anchorwoman was talking about her acting in one, which was basically a weird montage of her laying around on a table, as a clown with a frying pan flipped a pancake.

Does this mean you include Quentin Tarantino and "Pulp Fiction" in that category, because he tried to break the rules too? That's one of my all time favorite films, though I don't care much for his previous film, Resevoir Dogs. I will agree with you about Napoleon Dynamite though. Both my sister and I thought it was just stupid, and devoid of any entertainment value. Though, I don't think messing with "the system" is neccesarily a bad thing. I may not have liked stuff like Napoleon Dynamite, but I was able to endure that and find good stuff like Pulp Fiction, because films like that are from talented filmmakers who make the kind of stuff that feels right to them, instead of following some system to make a series of predictable formulaic movies that are made simply for the first weekend box office numbers, and later for the DVD release. I'm basically saying that I don't agree with your theory that anything that's different from what you're taught in film school is automatically 100% shit.

"Are you sure this is gonna work, Bill?" "It worked in The Exorcist...1 and 3." Next movie: Fame

Man, I'm just baffled at the animosity shown towards Raymond by so many people. I love that show. The only funny sitcom left in a sticom field full of excessively gimmicky garbage. But hey, if Americans would rather see another "Friends" character get their own spin off, be my guest. Anyway, I was never a huge Frasier fan either, but I've always had a lot of respect for Kelsey Grammar, from his days on Cheers to his stints as Sideshow Bob on The Simpsons.

Trailblazer(Hersheypark)'s helix
Movieguy replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That does sound like a bit of a cause for concern. It might not be anything serious, but I'd still get checked out. -
DLR Space Mountain Queue Photos
Movieguy replied to Sgt. Fox's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Interesting. I'm hoping they'll do something like this for WDW version. But I hope they only change the coaster itself. The queue is still one of the all-time best in WDW. -
I'm not into First Person Shooters, so I was never impressed much by the first X-BOX. I never really noticed much of a difference between that and my PS2. I'll only look into getting an X-BOX 360 if it finds some way of wowing me. Of course, they'll probably just show it off with another FPS, and then I'll go play something else. I'm getting a little tired of keeping up with the latest systems.

Keep in mind a proposal like this is probably going to spend an eternity in the bueracratic hell that is the New York State legislature. God help you if you can accomplish ANYTHING with this bickering government of ours. It's still a very intriguing idea though. Even a retail moneymaker beats the hell out of a ghetto in my view.

Disaster Transport at CP
Movieguy replied to benzo41190's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was on DT once, and that was enough. No matter how much theming they put into that thing, it doesn't change the fact that the coaster itself is too short of a ride. they should have just built a new coaster indoors, but I guess that would have cost too much for them. -
The nickname I gave myself doing reviews for the college paper was "The Movie Guy". Not very creative, but I liked the sound of it.

"Oh, and when you're telling these stories, here's an idea, have a point! It makes things so much more interesting for the listener!" Next movie: Back to The Future

Intamin And B&M Lover
Movieguy replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've only been on one Intamin in my life, and that was Millenium Force. But that one was enough to convince how awesome Intamin is. I'd love to try GeForce, but once again, the issue of travel expenses come up. I like B&M a lot as well, obviously. Apollo's charriot was a great thrill as well with all those drops, and both Mantis and Raptor at CP were great experiences too. -
Hey, I recently found a zip file that took a while to download, but it was worth it. It's a collection of great old video game commercials, from the Atari era to the Nintendo era, and much more. Remember Nintendo's "Now you're playing with power" campaign? It's there. Remember Sega's "Genesis does what Ninten-don't!" campaign? It's there. They even have the strange, yet funny Sega Saturn ads from Japan, featuring Segata Sanshiro. You can get it all right here... http://www.fileplanet.com/152889/150000/fileinfo/Classic-Video-Game-Commercials

Oh god, National Treasure...I saw a display at the store proclaiming that movie to be the Indiana Jones of a new generation. BLASPHEMY!

The Hulk: Soooooo much wasted potential Troy: An innacurate retelling of the Illiad featuring Brad Pitt's stale acting and naked ass...I wish I'd passed on this one in the theaters. Rocky V: So awful it killed the franchise. Alien Ressurection: To borrow a line from Syndrome "Lame, lame, lame, lame, LAME!" How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days: Or as I called it in a review for the college paper, "How to lose your lunch in two hours" (A line Gene Shallit stole from me later ) Not Another Teen Movie: A toilet crashing through a ceiling and spilling crap on everybody is funny because?...This was easily the most nauseating "comedy" I've ever seen.

"Take her to the zoo...I hear retards love the zoo." (Crap, Flyingscooter beat me...how do you delete a post?)

Hey Robb, I watched all of the Japan-a-mania DVD's and I noticed that after your ride on Thunder Dolphin at La Qua, you and Elissa were badmouthing the thing. I'm puzzled because it looks like such an awesome coaster. What in the world was wrong with it?
-
I think the same kind of thing when people bash wood coasters like Mean Streak or Jack Rabbit, that they've been spoiled by GCI, CCI, or whatever they're called right now. At least wood coasters don't bang your head around in the way that only a Veklona can.

It's rather interesting to here this. Here in Ithaca, we turn our clocks back and forth for daylight savings time every year, and nobody I know has ever complained. I just assumed everyone in the country did this. Guess I was wrong.

Another vote for The Shield right here. One of the most gutsy cop shows to come out in years. Can't say I've ever seen CHiPs, but I liked the disco theme music.

The price you pay for bringing up my Chinese or American heritage as a negative is...I collect your f****** head...Just like this f***** here!...Now if any of sons of bitches GOT ANYTHING ELSE TO SAY, NOW'S THE F****** TIME!!!... I didn't think so... Next: First Blood
