Walt Disney World Epcot Discussion Thread
Movieguy replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've always liked Spaceship Earth, but I always liked how they changed it, and gave it a new spin every so often. It's been so long since they did that with the 1994 refurb, so I'm excited to hear that Siemens has some new ideas for the ride with Disney. And like everyone says, this sounds like it's going to give the ride a Horizons feel to it, which makes this sound all the more intriguing. I miss Horizons so much, even though I enjoy MS as well, and anything that reminds me of it is welcome. As for videos of SE's old incarnations, the incomparable Martin Smith has some good footage, which can be found on this site: http://www.geoffreynease.com/news.php -
Frog Princess - Disney's First Black Princess
Movieguy replied to Ryan King's topic in Random, Random, Random
I'm not a huge fan of Randy Newman, but he's done a few things that I've liked. The score to "The Natural" being one of them. He also did a song about Cleveland at the beginning of "Major League" that I liked a lot. -
I'd like to be able to make a good dark ride, enclose it in walls and line up the theming just right. My problem is, I seem to have very poor height and distance perception with this game...I'll try to place a single roof piece, and it will turn out to either be lower or higher than I originally wanted for some reason...same goes for walls a lot of the time. It's especially problematic when I try to place custom pitch black objects for roofs or walls...at some point I have no clue where to put the next piece. Is there anyone, or any place out there that could help me gain a basic understanding of how to enclose rides in this game?

Frog Princess - Disney's First Black Princess

I remember John Lasseter saying, when he became the new head of Disney animation, that he didn't want to continue Disney's neglect of hand drawn animation...and right now, it looks like he's actually making an effort to bring interest back to the format. The man clearly has a good head on his shoulders. Even he realized that the Pixar formula was starting to get stale, not being blinded by the overwhelming success of each film, the kind of phenomenon that can be so easily intoxicating. -

That was one of the coolest things I have ever seen done with RCT3. Good job. -
Frog Princess - Disney's First Black Princess

Hmmmm...a chance to add a black princess to the "Disney Princess" line...whole thing reeks of opportunism for me, from the standpoint of the Disney company. Still, I'm more interested in how they present this one as a character. If she's just going to be a shallow collection of tired black stereotypes dressed up in the Disney way, I'll be less interested in the film itself. -
Beautiful. Wonderful pics all around. I've never been to this Busch Gardens...and now that I've seen these shots, it makes me want to visit even more.

I'm ecstatic that the Pens are staying in Pittsburgh, and receiving that new arena they've deserved for years. I'm also glad to see them winning again after all these painful years...I only wish I could go back to college and face down all those guys who took the time to tell me how bad the penguins sucked after seeing my favorite Pens shirt...damn Sabres fans...

I guess I like Sarah Silverman too...her delivery style's a little too subdued for me, but I did like her "Jesus is Magic" concert movie. Plus her new show on Comedy Central has had some funny moments.

Happy B-day!

^ That's true...but still, Bush adopted the South as his home, including the accent, and that's what gave him his edge against the "Massachusetts Liberal" in 2004.

I recently had a chance to try a bottle of this new soda, which is obviously Coca-Cola's answer to Pepsi's Mountain Dew: Code Red flavor. The soda itself: Not bad. It's actually very pleasant, almost like a carbonated version of Cherry Kool-Aid, and without any noticeable aftertaste. Try this stuff at least once, if you haven't already.

Nice new pics...Gotta love Indian food, whatever the occasion. Man, this is making me remember when my sister came along...I was 11 when she was born, so I have a lot of vivid memories of seeing her right after the birth...it still seems like it was only yesterday. Well, now she's 15, and in the middle of her first year of high school...She gets a bit testy at times, and takes forever to get out of bed in the morning, but she's also got a ton of friends, and is a very sharp straight-A student. Treasure the time you have now with little Kristen, because I guarantee, you're gonna look at her one of these days, and suddenly realize that she grew rather quickly, hehe. One nice thing I can tell you, is that my sister easily developed a love for coasters and thrill rides, thanks to me as an influence, so I'm absolutely positive that Kristin's gonna pick it up too someday. Be careful though...just as my sister has dragged me onto rides I've not been too comfy around, Kristin may one day drag you onto another Togo death machine.

I'm no fan of the right wing, but I consider myself more of a centrist than a liberal, since I sometimes find myself at odds with a few of the ultra liberals here in my area. I think you need somebody who can take both sides of an issue into consideration. I feel nothing for Hillary...no excitement, no love for her, nothing. I just don't see her as the type of woman who could be elected president. Obama's nice, he's well-spoken, and fairly charismatic, but he needs a little more experience. Edwards has a decent shot, because he's a Southerner, and Southerners always seem to have a slight edge these days when running for president. Just look at both the Bush's and Clinton. Then again, he ran with Kerry in 04, and lost...But that had to do more with Kerry just being a bland, polarizing, and outright wrong candidate, who got lucky because Dean shot himself in the foot after Iowa. As the Republicans, again, I don't see Giuliani being their candidate, because of his stance on abortion, and that it's very difficult for a Northerner to become president these days. I'm saying McCain all the way on this side.

That was all such an absolute blast to read and watch. Pluto guy rules you all! One of these days, I'm gonna get a better paying job, so I'll have the money to join you all on your expeditions...don't let the lame nickname fool you, once you get to know me, I can be very...interesting to have around on a trip, hehe. But enough about my dreams, this trip was a hoot to read about, plain and simple. Keep up the fantastic work.

Game: Rate the username above you
Movieguy replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Random, Random, Random
^ 6/10 Nice and simple Aw man, I've got the lowest rated username...is there any way I can change it? -
^ That's nowhere near as freaky as some of the stuff I've seen...I once saw this kid born with a "Parasitic head"...I spent the whole time silently screaming "Aaaaahhh! Oh god! It's like 'Basket Case'!"

Well, Cedar Point's more midwestern to me, RollerC, but I see your point. -
Ok...this...it made me laugh...but it also made me scratch my head as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PPWDglTboI

I'd like Pablo Francisco more if he'd get some new material...it seems like he's been using the same bits since the late 90's.

Saving Whalom Park? Again???
Movieguy replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, people have fond memories of the place...just like how Conneuat is the home of my very first roller coaster. I've never been to Whalom, and I'm sure the place is very run down, but you kinda have to look at this from the Northeastern perspective...we don't enjoy the kind of prosperity that you californians, or you Southerners have enjoyed for the last few decades...we see very little in the way of new things and we've been losing so much of what we have now (Just look at the Pittsburgh Penguins, they're gonna be moving to Kansas City any day now). So, many of us feel compelled to hold on to the old things before they vanish too. -
- Jim Gaffigan: He's one of those few comedians who can just grab my attention, and keep me chuckling the whole way through. His Hot Pockets bit still cracks me up to this day. The fact this guy doesn't have the following that Dane Cook does is an absolute crime. - George Carlin: This man is a legend, plain and simple. He gets a little too serious some of the time, and throws a lot of bitterness into his material these days, but he's an old man now, so that's to be expected. - Lewis Black: Nobody does the "angry man" gimmick better than this guy. His routines do tend to tire me out before they end, though.
