Wow! Great trip report, bro. It was so good that it brought me out of forum posting hibernation. Loved the Boston pics. But I guess that's because I'm a geek like that about places with actual important historical value. I can't believe someone forgot to put on that tombstone that Samuel Adams invented beer. What's up with that!? So... did you get Anna's phone number for me?

Roller Coaster on a Cruise Ship?

Well, if they did build a coaster on a cruise ship it would have to be an Aquatrax. -

Or you could just go by park attendance. Hey... no need to take a stab at me, I like CP as much as the next guy! And I plan on visiting in '07 to check out your Notquatrax! No stab intended... I meant that more to point out clarity to Robb's statement as to why so many people make a fuss over anything the park does and equating that to the millions upon millions that frequent CP each year. So naturally the countries largest/most popular thrill park will have people commenting out of the woodwork if they did something as minor as installing new water fountains let alone a new roller coaster. I should have included Robb's portion of the quote to make my response more clear. I appoligize for my lack of clarity on that one. -

OK... I don't think anyone is debating that Mystery Mine is going to be themed worse than Maverick. I'm sure Mystery Mine will be themed much better than Maverick. But are you saying that Maverick can no way be considered good from a theming standpoint cause there is something better themed being built elsewhere? Back to Maverick; since this is it's thread, I think the theming looks very good. In the videos anyway. They really look like they are going to "try" and provide a decent themed ride for once. I'm making a big deal about this because I think that speaks volumes about the parks willingness to change and alter the typical game plan of the past twenty years; "we build big, fast and intense coasters and don't EVER expect much more than that". Cause that's the exact rap that park has garnered. I really, really, really like the theming and the subsequent message they are going for on this. Plastic rocks and all. -

^ Are you guys that are not overly impressed with the coaster at least a little bit excited that the park is going to make a serious attempt at theming? Atleast from what the video showed anyway. I was more thrilled over the theming of this coaster then the ride itself, which I might add still looks very good. I'm more than pleased that this park is doing more than dropping a good coaster between some trees or ontop of asphault. -

I guess it makes sense that they started building the coaster portion of this ride so soon if they are serious about putting some time and labor into theming this ride to what it looks like in the videos. I just hope the theming doesn't look as cheesey as my gut is telling me it might. -
Waterslide that goes up without jets?

Wow, how has no one died yet and why is there not some sort of higher retaining edge on the top of that hill? You put someone on that that freaks out from the air time and they may end up with some extra air time as they crash to the pavement. But I don't design water rides so what do I know. Slide looks hella-cool. -

To anyone who doesnt think this coaster looks that impressive are you atleast somewhat thrilled that Cedar Fair is making a step to build a decent ride with good theming? I mean, the theming on this ride looks good, real good. No, it's not the end all be all of themed rides and no it may not look as themed as it does in the videos when it's done being built but you have to admit that if this is the trend that Cedar Point is going to shoot for now then I am more then impressed. There will always be room to break records; and this park/franchise will, but till then I am very impressed that they went the route of image over thrill in this one. I might add that this ride still looks like it will pack quite a thrill. Of all the coasters I've seen being built in this park I am anticipating hearing and seeing how this one turns our more than any other coaster they have built. I think the buzz for this ride is more than deserved. This is a total thumbs up for Cedar Point in my book. -

I called it "The Rick" To someone earlier this week so there! I also trademarked "Usless pile of red looping, and shooting sh*t" for when it breaks down all the time. Ka and TTD have completely different launch systems then Maverick and are a thousand more times complex then the launched used on this ride. It may be down from time to time but I wouldn't expect month long breakdowns which are typical with Ka and TTD thus far. -

OK, I'll give this a shot. Cedar Point is the most popular "Thrill Park" in the nation. Being the most popular will lead to the most fanboys. Fanboys spawn and thrive in forums such as this. New coasters at the most popular thrill park in the nation leads to fanboys galore with untamed enthusiasm on this board. It's that simple. My take of the coaster is that it looks pretty F'ing sweet. I am far from a fan boy and hell I've never been to Cedar Point. I am MORE than impressed with what I saw in that video earlier tongiht. It was nothing new, nothing different, nothing overly special. It is a solid coaster with many decent elements to it. And it will be a bonus if it is themed half as near it was in the video. I love these launch coasters with Storm Runner and B&R The Chiller being some of my all-time favorite coasters. This coaster looks good, real good. Is it worth all the hoop-la here, no, not really. But Cedar Point is the top dog park in the country for thrill seekers so people will go crazy when the park gets a solid addition. Liken it to a baseball team that is all around solid and in first place but then they decide to pick up a big home run hitter in the middle of the season. That guy who can crush homers every night might suck at stealing bases or legging out a double but man will he excite the crowd when he signs with that team. Make sense? I tried -

Well, it does look like fun, but what world would you be speaking of? Just curious. Well, I did hear that Amusement Today called an emergency session to have a re-vote on the Golden Tickets to include Maverick. Word has it that it will be named the Golden Ticket's number one steel coaster by Friday. -
