Dollywood Discussion Thread
bgtlover replied to crispy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They don't sell any beer or liquor at Dollywood (in the park). There are however plenty of restaurants in Pigeon Forge that do. There are even Moonshine tasting places in the area. -
I honestly don't see them adding another wooden coaster with them getting rid of basically 2 that are still SBNO. Even if it were built with steel supports, I don't see it. If not a giga, I'd be satisfied with an Intamin Mega-lite or Hyper. At least it would stand out against Mako up the road. That way there would be some sort of airtime coaster without inversions that makes up for not having a wood coaster in the park.

Other than around major holidays and some summer weekends, you should be fine just about any day; especially in October. Likely walk on to 15-20 minutes at most. The only thing that will have a line longer than that would be Antarctica Empire Of The Penguin. You can however skip that and just view the penguins like I usually do...lol There may be a lot of children in the park for their Spooktacular event (Sat & Sun), which is in it's own area that's normally closed off when there are no events. [EDIT TO ADD] If you're just looking to go one day, Friday would be the least busy with school in session.

Where Are You Going in 2018?
bgtlover replied to ytterbiumanalyst's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Depending on the weather you may be one of the few there so you should be good...lol Seriously though, I've seen people go to the water parks in Orlando when it was 60 degrees. No thanks. -

Home Parks: Busch Gardens Tampa SeaWorld Orlando Fun Spot America Parks Returning To Parks: Carowinds New To Me Parks: Cedar Point Kings Island Kentucky Kingdom Possible: Dollywood Six Flags Over Georgia -
8+DC I will be adding at least 3 more next year.
-
There is still Busch Gardens Tampa and SeaWorld Orlando that have far superior coasters anyway... In other news: The guy on FB who seems to think that at least half of Dragon Challenge will end up at Kentucky Kingdom (or elsewhere) bay be coming around after I tagged him in MM's post showing it being torched. Now he has messaged B&M...some people...lol

I am a same-sex loving individual and can say I "indulged" a couple times in my younger days (like 2002/03) on the unofficial gay day at Carowinds around pride time. Of course I would never do that now. I was in a different space back then and hadn't touched anything like that since. There were a few others that indulged as well that we knew, but the vast majority attending were clean & sober. Looking back it was pretty dumb, no matter how much fun I thought I had those days. So no not all in a party atmosphere are doing such things, but indeed there are likely some that are.

Forces work differently on different people. I could fall asleep on Wild Eagle after getting the great views going up the lift, but could marathon Tennessee Tornado and enjoy myself with it's perfect level of intensity. -
Hurricane Irma Florida Parks Updates
bgtlover replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The parks in Orlando are definitely getting it now. It's downgraded to Cat 1 with 85mph winds. Moving NNW. I'm in Gainesville about where the pin is. I-75 is right behind where I live. -

^^They announced their 2016 addition in December (Dinos). They announced Ohana Bay September 21st last year. I think it would be somewhere between there. The bigger it is the earlier. If not as significant they may wait until the park is closed for the season. -

Whats The Weather Like Where You Live?

Hurricane Irma is on the way! -
I know of several people who "predicted" a vertical lift coaster well before they began to remove Boomerang. I "knew" it was going to be a Gerstlauer Infinity months before the announcement. I don't know who this "fanboy" is that's being mentioned, but I don't believe they were exclusive in their prediction.

What's your closest coaster?
bgtlover replied to FishyFish's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wacky Worm at Adventure Landing in Jacksonville Beach. It's 92 miles from me. I don't have the credit (yet...lol). https://rcdb.com/3069.htm The closest decent sized park is Wild Adventures at 98 miles. -

^What they said. They sent Sandstorm from BGT to Sesame Place in 2013 (opened in 2014 there as Honker Dinger Derby). Sandstorm: Honker Dinger Derby: -
Six Flags America (SFA) Discussion Thread

Clearly you haven't been to Canada's Wonderland. I can assure you that the one at Canada's Wonderland is better than the one currently at SFA. It's at least 300 feet longer. SFA: CW: Canada's Wonderland's is also longer then the one at Carowinds. -

I've seen rumors of a wooden coaster. I think it would work. Something a bit on the milder side from GCI similar to White Lightning or Invadr, but less intense. In other news, I would like Sandstorm back from them. It's one of the few spinning type rides I can stand. I love it's replacement (Falcon's Fury), but with a lackluster line-up of flats as it already was, it was a shame to lose the only one I really liked before FF...lol -
It's where that old monorail station is — kind of buried in the trees right across from Tidal Wave. I'm not sure how it's going to fit in there to be honest as that's a pretty steep slope and they'll have to clear out quite a bit of greenery. That is, of course, unless it's positioned in a way where the struts jut out into the walkway? Either way, it looks like it'll swing very close to Superman's launch. EDIT: Actually, looking at footprints of similar rides at CP and KI, the footprint really isn't that big. Zamperla's Giant Discovery is quite a bit larger than the Huss Gaint Frisbees that CP and KI have. A normal Giant Discovery has a footprint of 122' x 82' (the one at SFMM will be larger than this) A Huss Giant Frisbee has a footprint of only 79' by 49'
