Mitch Hawker 2010 poll
jynx242 replied to Skycoastin Steve's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
GREAT to see Mindbender at SFoG at a respectable 54. Pretty good for a 33 year old roller coaster! Anton definitely did it right! -
^ I'm kind of in the middle on this one. The upside is - the tax write off resulting in the nice refund check each year pays for my summer TPR trips. The downside is, I have a 100 year old house (which I love) which requires TONS of maintenance. If I were still renting, I'd probably be able to budget the big summer trip each year, plus additional bashes. When something particularly "catastrophic" happens at the house - I ALWAYS wish I was renting again . I have, however, learned how to budget since purchasing a home and it has helped to ensure that I get a TPR trip each year - so all's good with the American Dream / Nightmare. D

^ There are people out there who are jealous of the success that Robb has had with TPR and Club TPR. They can't stand to see someone actually succeed in turning a passion into a business and bash on him. Also - the TPR forums won't stand for some of the flaming, poor grammer and general bad behavior that some other sites will - and have banned people because of such. They get their "panties in a wad" because they were acting like jerks here and refuse to take responsibility for their own actions. Therefore...Robb = evil. From someone who has met Robb, Elissa and KidTums I can personally attest that they are really nice and just plain "neato" people. The naysayers are full of crap. David McCollum P.S. - hope this helped.

R.D.'s Patent's thread.

Could you IMAGINE if someone like Gravity Group re-did the original Safety Cyclones? That...would....be....epic! -
I will occasionally eat a can of icing. Who needs cake? Ke$ha - everything inside of me SCREAMS that I should hate her, but I just can't. I think she made a deal with the devil or something.....evil succubus. David

^Finally somebody is doing this. I know that they are great for the environment and good cars and such, but to me - hybrids like the Prius and that Honda are just funny looking. These still have that wonky hybrid rear end - but look a HELL of a lot better!

Best "Family" Park in the Mid-Atlantic?
jynx242 replied to vrf19977's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You alot of the parks you've been to seem to fit the bill perfectly. Knoebels, Hershey and Dorney seem to be the most "family" friendly as opposed to THRILL PARK or KIDDIELAND type parks. Are you looking for something else - like a park you have not visited, or are you wanting opinions regarding the ones that you have listed? David -
I'm also a fan of the Georgia Cyclone! It is rough, but AWESOME airtime. Rode it a couple of weeks ago and it had actually improved on the rough factor. Ninja at SFoG - rode in the GASM train relocated from New Jersey. AWESOME! You can still feel the whole structure rocking around, but it was actually re-ridable. Disaster Transport - I don't get the hate. I had a BLAST on this and laughed my butt off during the entire ride.

The City Museum is definitely one of the most INSANE places I've ever visited. I was quite certain that I was going to die several times while we were there. The slide going down the outside front of the building was EPIC. I must have been travelling MACH 6 by the time I got to the bottom. Thanks for posting this. David

Thanks for the report Martin! I hope you are both doing well. David

Osama Bin Laden killed by American forces
jynx242 replied to Hotlanta's topic in Random, Random, Random
^ Key words there - "most of the time." I'm of the somber reflection group. Celebrating his death isn't something that I can really do. He was a figurehead in a terrorist organization, but I still have a problem celebrating the fact that we killed him. It makes me sad that we had to kill someone in the first place - you know what I mean? It's great that the families of his (and his organization's) victims get to have some closure. As far as terrorist threats go - I see terrorist organizations as Hydra...cut off one head and two grow in it's place. In my field, we have to go through annual Anti Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing training. Just because one leader of one group is gone (albeit he was a damned bad man,) there are still more out there. I am hopeful that this has had some affect on the different cells and organizations; yet wary. David -
What is the worst Theme Park in the world?
jynx242 replied to martinb's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Best description ever! I'm curious how he deemed it AIDS infested... For me - Six Flags America. I've only been once, but the staff ranged from bored to just plain hateful that day. It's been several years, so I hope things have changed, but the operations were pretty bad. The dirtiest park I've ever been to was SFoG in the 90's. WOW. Considering that I worked there in the 80's, it got pretty bad in the "extreme park" Six Flags days. I can say that it is much different now. They really have done a good job cleaning up the place. -
^ Love my Soul! Great little car and AWESOME on a road trip.

That answer sounds as good as any other . The crazy, "meaningful," ending is part of what keeps people seeing it after all these years. That and the beauty and creepiness of the whole thing. Great flick.

^ This made me laugh! You can stay . I needed a little levity in my day. David

^ OMG - I was thinking the same thing! Our cable box went on the fritz, so I missed the first 30 minutes though. I did, however, enjoy this one MUCH more than last week.

^ Once I find "the car" that keeps me smiling year after year - I'll keep it until it dies. My Supra (1985) was similar as was my '79 280ZX (totalled that one ) ^^^ish Cameron - I've always loved that style of Volvo. Sporty but wagonny (I know - I totally made up that word,) at the same time. ^^^^^ I loved all three generations of the MR2. I bought the 2001 Spyder for the rag-top. It was initally going to be a Corvette, but my Blazer at the time was dying and I was pissed at Chevrolet - then it was going to be an RX-8 - but the one I wanted was sold. By that point I had a bug up my butt that I was getting a sports car THAT DAY, so I found mine through CarMax and bought it. D.

Thanks for the update Kevin. You forgot to mention, that we were told that we needed to shoot Dan with our handy little fascination squirt guns!

I'm in! Come on - it would be a total freak show! Even if you don't like her in particular - the lady has Imagination!
