  1. I would rather see CP tear down some of their terrible rides and ask Gerstlauer, Intamin, GCI etc to take some classic back to life or recreate some great rides just like how Knoebels do. Build a Shuttle Loop with Intamin LSM, Crustal Beach Cyclone with GCI's technology, Eagle's Fortress with Intamin's fixing etc. Funny you said that. Whenever I look at a picture of the Crystal Beach Cyclone - I ALWAYS wish someone could re-create it today so it wouldn't try to kill you. For some reason, that particular ride has always intrigued me.
  2. ^ Bobby, I lived in Dallas for two years and from knowing you, you are going to LOVE the people in Texas. I met some of the nicest people I know in Texas and would move back in a heartbeat if work would permit it.
  3. Don't think I ever responded to this thread. I'm 42 years old and my first coaster was the Mini-Mine Train at SFoG
  4. I don't think you can buy a new one of these. SFoG had one years ago as well as SFStL. They were just old. Lots of fun, but old.
  5. ^ LOL - so what you're saying is that it should be open for Fright Fest?
  6. ^ You will. The one at Indiana Beach had me going WTF the entire ride I love how El Loco elements often look just "wrong." Thanks guys for all of the updates on this. Looking forward to seeing the finished product!
  7. At SFoG - where Batman the Ride sits now, used to be "The Flying Dutchman." A swinging ship ride. A large part of the area that is Gotham City was actually themed to "Jolly Roger's Island" and had a pirate theme. Where the "Crime Wave" sits now - there was a "Teen Club" (which were all the rage in the 80's) called Graffitti's. SFoG used to get pretty awesome concerts like: Duran Duran, Erasure, Heart, The Bangels, Journey, Billy Idol, Night Ranger and the Hudugurus.

  9. Even though it is another transplant, I am glad to see that SFA is getting something new and has an excuse to "theme" an area. I'll agree with an earlier post that the park (with the other issues we had there) was just not "pretty." The rides themselves were quite fine - but something about the park as a whole just felt neglected. Although a relocated family coaster can't turn a park around, I think it is a sign of the continuing redevelopment of the park from management. Here's hoping to future improvements to the park. D.
  10. I missed my 10th - but did make it to my 20th. Out of a graduating class of 600, about 200 showed up. It was still "fairly" cliquey, but not as bad as I thought. I actually had entire conversations with people I never spoke to in High School. I thought they were snobs, and they thought I was standoffish. We shared a laugh. D
  11. ^ You know what? You are right . D
  12. I wonder if it is going in the area of the "Orlando Eye" project. I seem to recall that they had one more thing to announce that would be a first or something like that. We shall see I guess. D
  13. Made....my......day. Thanks Guy! And In regards to Banshee: looks fantastic. My prediction, it will be fast, but not as "forceful" as the old-school inverts. I think it will be a ton of fun - but the transitions are just going to be smoother than they used to be. This is only an opinion, by the way so there is no need to send me all of the reasons I am wrong please. D.
  14. I have always thought that those were the strangest looking rides for some reason.
  15. Welcome to the neighborhood
  16. Wow - I definitely think Spring Break 2015 will be a great re-entry into taking TPR trips. I haven't been on one in the last couple of years and words cannot describe how much I miss them! D.
  17. I just have to say that I have enjoyed this thread so much! Wish I had something to add, but I don't at the moment
  18. Thanks so much for posting this. It has made my work day much more enjoyable! Your report makes me wish I had been on that trip. You look like a lot of fun, and you were hanging with Nick, who is one of my favorite people . Not to leave anyone else out, I'm sure they would be my favorite if I knew them. David
  19. ^If any of you ever get the chance, Atlanta's Pride is pretty "out of this world" fun. It is REALLY big and always a ton of fun. I moved down here to Orlando right before Pride here, but I did not go (just way too much going on.)
  20. Saw Hunger Games: Catching Fire last night. I enjoyed it. It kept pretty much to the story in the book and was big, loud and fun.
  21. ^ There is no way to read that post without using a naughty voice I'm excited for this and looking forward to seeing how it turns out. It definitely isn't what I was expecting
  22. Saw a bunch of great concerts in that amphetheater growing up! Billy Idol Foriegner Night Ranger The Bangles/Hudugurus Duran Duran / Erasure Memories
  23. Wow! Thanks for the amazing pictures! German Fairs are definitely on my "bucket list." David
  24. I have to go with Kumba. Still one of the best around and I never get tired of it.
