I think it'd depend on who owned the park, and what kind of condition the company was in. I could definitely see Six Flags RMCing it, if they could afford it. Not so with Cedar Fair, as they'd much rather have the RMC at Cedar Point. -
i've had a pass for years and since i've never used a discount day, never paid attention to them. i looked on the app, and online at my passholder page and couldn't find them. i looked through my old emails from knott's. last year they were, April 28 - May 7, August 13, 20, 27, September 1, 2, 3, 4, 9 & 10. i got that from the passholder emails they send out. if there were more, they weren't in the monthly emails. which, btw, only were send from march - august. so, maybe they will be similar days this year, or not. but i couldn't find 2018 info. I see, thanks! I'll keep an eye out for the emails.

Do most coasters turn to the right?
joelwee replied to ComeRideWithMe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Apocalypse, Gold Rusher, X2, and Twisted Colossus at SFMM all make left u-turns toward the lift hill, but that same park also has other coasters that turn to the right. This is one of those odd questions that I've never thought about, but I'm seriously pondering it now that it's been brought up. -

Unanswered/Dumb Question-Dumb Answer game

Because that would be udder nonsense. Why does Six Flags only use DC characters, and not Marvel? -
Great TR! That sucks about your wallet, but at least everything inside was easily replaceable. I've seen Tatsu steal items out of other riders' pockets, as well, but not on the pretzel loop. About a year ago, the person in front of me lost their phone on the last turn before the final brake run. I need to get over to the park again soon. The new semester has kept me pretty busy, and so I've had about a month of coaster withdrawals.

Game: Careful What You Wish For

Granted, but you're homeless, on the streets of Sandusky, and you can't afford to go to Cedar Point. I wish Coaster Mania would get here sooner. -
Scream and Riddler both tend to be smoother in the front. Scream's main rough spot, for me, is the beginning of the cobra roll. The whole train rattles like crazy at that point. Riddler slams your head into the restraints at a few points, as well. I personally can't see that happening, since Knott's already has one. While I don't know what the park DOES have planned, I'd like to see them install another woodie. With the RMC conversion of Colossus, Apocalypse is the only true wooden coaster in the park. But this park doesn't seem to have much success with woodies, so I doubt that this will happen.

I have a picture of GASM as well, but I took it inside a gift shop at SFMM. Hey, that's not Viper... -
40 Random Questions [2018 Off-Season Edition]
joelwee replied to boldikus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wait, when did that become a steel coaster? It was those sneaky bastards at RMC, wasn't it? We all thought it was down for extended maintenance, but no! They've been bringing in their steel track at night while we weren't looking! Damn those coaster gnomes! Nah, they converted it while the park was open. It went unnoticed because nobody goes into that corner of the park. But besides the new Twisted Terminator, my favorite steel coaster under 100 feet is Gold Rusher. -
40 Random Questions [2018 Off-Season Edition]
joelwee replied to boldikus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. What is the best park visit you had in 2017? Knott's Berry Farm during the Boysenberry Festival 2. Have you ever traveled to a park with a specific ride in mind only for it to be closed all day? Yes. Knott's Berry Farm... Sol Spin was closed (surprise, surprise). 3. GCI or Gravity Group? Pick one. Never ridden a Gravity Group coaster, so GCI wins by default. 4. How many different parks did you visit in 2017? 4 (I was out for half the year, due to jaw surgery.) 5. How many times did you visit your home park in 2017? 20 or so. 6. What was the first RMC you rode? Twisted Colossus 7. Best view from the top of a lift? Viper @ SFMM. Being right on the edge of the park, you can either look to the right and see the rolling hills of Santa Clarita, look to the left and see the rest of the park, or look straight ahead and see X2. 8. What new-for-2018 roller coaster are you most anticipating? Pick one. Hangtime @ KBF 9. RMC or Intamin? You can only choose one. RMC, though that may change after riding Millennium Force and Maverick later this year. 10. What was your favorite new-to-you ride of 2017? Lex Luthor 11. Money is no object. You can travel to any park in the world right now by snapping your fingers. Where are you going? Hmm... trick question? Most of the U.S.'s parks are closed for the winter. During the offseason, SFFT. During the regular season, Cedar Point. 12. Have you ever made out with someone in a queue line? Yep. 13. What is the last coaster that changed your top 10? Xcelerator 14. Disney or Universal? Disney 15. When is the last time you witnessed someone puke at a park? Never witnessed it - just the aftermath. 16. How many new credits did you pick up in 2017? If you don't count, take your best guess... Not many... maybe 5? 17. You're at Magic Mountain. You have a one hour ERT session on ONE coaster of your choice. You choose... Twisted Colossus 18. Name a coaster or ride that you passionately dislike. Green Lantern @ SFMM 19. What is the most amount of money you've spent on a Fast Pass? $0 - but I got a free one at SFMM. 20. Skyscreamers or Windseekers? Never ridden either, so no opinion. 21. What is your most recent B&M credit? Tatsu 22. Best adult beverage at a theme park? (under 21: whats your favorite beverage you can only get at a park?) Beer! 23. Most irritating coaster nickname/abbreviation? YOLOCoaster 24. Butterbeer or Dole Whip? Dole Whip 25. Favorite steel coaster *under* 100 feet? Apocalypse @ SFMM 26. What's the best bathroom at your home park? The one hidden behind the gift kiosk between Ninja and Superman. 27. Nighttime ERT on Lightning Rod or all-you-can-eat Cinnamon Bread? You can only choose one. Lightning Rod! 28. If it were in your power, what coaster would you relocate to Knoebels? Green Lantern @ SFMM 29. What is the last thing you remember eating in a theme park? Roast beef sandwich at SFMM's Plaza Cafe 30. Your favorite coaster got equipped with on board audio x Spotify. What's your hype track? Eh, nothing. I dislike on-board audio. 31. Name the most disappointing ride you took in 2017. "New" Ghostrider. Maybe I just got a bad seat, but it jack-hammered like cray. 32. Airtime hill or Zero G Roll? Airtime hill! 33. What is your favorite coaster/ride built before 1970? Matterhorn Bobsleds 34. What's worse - splashed by malaria lake flume water or dripped on by chain lift grease? Malaria lake. 35. Name an Intamin coaster on your bucketlist! Maverick 36. You just won a 3 day trip with hotel and airfare included. The catch is you have to choose between Disneyworld or Cedar Point. Which do you choose and why? Disneyworld, simply because it's more costly. 37. Floater or Ejector? Ejector 38. What was your worst park experience of 2017? Dealing with ridiculous crowds at Disneyland and DCA. 39. Name your favorite coaster under 41 feet tall. Patriot @ Castles 'N' Coasters 40. End your post with an aerial shot of one of your top 5 coasters. -

It just occurred to me that CoasterMania will be happening during the time I plan to visit CP for the first time this year. I'll definitely get in on that. -
Photos of Defunct Rides
joelwee replied to Le Serpent Mascara's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I only have a couple of photos of defunct rides, and they're both from last year. On-ride photo from California Screamin' - January, 2017 Knott's Boomerang - taken about a month before it closed. -
Don't they all start with 'T'? Took me a second to get that. My list is small right now, but I'm planning on expanding it this year. Apocalypse (SFMM) Batman (SFMM) California Screamin' (RIP) Desert Storm E F-u-l-l Throttle Ghostrider H I Jaguar K L Matterhorn Bobsleds Ninja (SFMM) O Patriot Q Revolution Scream! Twisted Colossus U Viper X2 Y Z

I was there for a few hours this afternoon. One side of Drop of Doom was still 15 feet in the air when I walked by it. It was about 47 degrees and windy, which meant that X2 was also closed today. However, I noticed that Goliath is back up and running. It just opened either yesterday or today, as it was not running when I was there on Thursday. Revolution's station was empty when I walked by it. They were running two trains, but could have easily gotten by with one. I'm glad that the VR is gone (for now, at least). Does anyone know if the park plans to bring it back? If I recall, the park announced its Galactic Attack VR in January of last year, but they haven't uttered a peep about VR this year. I only rode a handful of rides today; they were all station waits, with the exception of Tatsu, which had about a 20-minute wait.

The Official "TPR Coaster Poll" Thread!
joelwee replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sorry, but we’ve already stated several times we aren’t including defunct coasters. IMO it makes no sense at all including rides that are closed and have zero relevance to a “best coasters” poll other than to be nostalgic and that isn’t what this poll is about. Just a heads up - Knott's Boomerang was listed, and it's been closed since last April. -
I guess their franchise agreements ended? Hopefully they put something else in the main gate location soon. Not good for something to be empty/closed up right where everyone enters the park. And now, just what we need, another empty building in the back of the park. They really need to do something with the "Cyclone Bay" section of the park. I agree. The empty building just inside the front gate looks bad, so hopefully they'll get something else in there soon. I wonder if Six Flags will install their own ice cream brand in that building (like how they replaced Panda Express with Chop Six).

The Official "TPR Coaster Poll" Thread!

Save function is not working in Chrome, Windows 10. Also, Legoland California is not listed. Otherwise, I really like this site. -
I stopped by for a little while yesterday evening, as well. It was a ghost town. All the coasters were open, with the exceptions of Superman, Goliath, and Green Lantern. Despite what the app said, Riddler and Apocalypse were both open. Everything was running one train, but that was all that was needed. I never waited more than 2 minutes for any ride. One major bummer that I noticed was that both ColdStones are gone. I can't say I'm too surprised, given that I've never seen long lines at either place, while the funnel cake place directly across the midway was always packed. But it was nice to be able to sneak into the one near Apocalypse and get a cup of ice cream on the dining pass.
