  1. While Cedar Point scrambles to get Steel Vengeance up and running, Michigan's Adventure be like... via Imgflip Meme Generator
  2. that seemed to be Cedar Point's policy when I was there last year too. . . hats had to go down shirts, or be put in a bunny. (tho not sure if that's the case now with SV, or if everything needs to go in a FFBFWMAG) That's Knott's Berry Farm's policy, too. The one exception is Hangtime, where you can't wear glasses even with a lanyard. However, they still allowed me to keep my phone, wallet, keys, etc. in my pocket.
  3. They were cannibalized... in other words, if a part failed on one train, Maintenance just took the part off of the other train and never replaced it, leaving the second train incomplete. In Ride of Steel's case, the park only bought one new train for it.
  4. Great pics and report, Condor. What kind of camera did you use? One thing I thought was odd - which I forgot to mention in my TR - is that you can't wear glasses on Hangtime, even if they have a lanyard. The ride ops didn't all seem to get that memo; one of them told me to keep my sunglasses on because I had a lanyard... only to be interrupted by another ride op, who told me to take them off and put them in a bin. But with yesterday being such a grey day, I'm not sure why I brought my sunglasses to begin with.
  5. To make it worse, Millennium Force is being renamed "Goliath" and TTD is receiving OTSRs. Cedar Fair is reopening Geauga Lake.
  6. Photo TR: Hangtime I spent most of today at Knott's and got in a few rides on Hangtime during the passholder preview. This was my first Gerstlauer ever, so this was a totally new experience for me. Ho-ly cow, what a fantastic ride. It rode much like I expected it to by watching it test, but it offered a few surprises, which I'll get into later. Without further ado, let's dive into the pictures. I arrived at the park at 10:00 AM and made a beeline for Hangtime. The park was relatively uncrowded at that point, so despite getting stuck behind a train, I made good time. 2019 B&M Giga rumors being dispensed near Supreme Scream today. The wait during the 10:00 hour varied between 30-45 minutes, which gave plenty of time to snap some pics of the queue. The park did an excellent job of theming this queue, though it was a little unrealistic. The surfboards, sand, rocks, rope fences, etc. were in much better shape than what you'd find at a typical California beach. Surfing lessons - available at Hangtime's transfer shed. Now, the ride itself... The vertical lift hill was a first for me, but what I didn't realize at first was that the seats are slightly reclined - thus giving the sensation of being dumped out of your seat as you ascend the lift hill. SoCal already has its share of looping coasters, but this is one of the few that only utilizes seat belts and lap bars. Having ridden Full Throttle countless times, I'm used to being gut-punched by lap bars when coming to a sudden stop at a steep angle. Hangtime doesn't do that. (Be like Hangtime.) The lap bars are clam-shell-shaped, similar to B&M hypers, and sit further down your legs than most lap bars. Because of the large crowds and low capacity of this coaster, seats were being assigned. Being a single rider today, I was able to try a different row on each of my three rides. Here's what I noticed: Front row - obviously - is the most suspenseful on the holding brake. Other than that, the only major highlight of this row was the pop of airtime right above the ride entrance. It rattled a bit when entering the cobra roll, but otherwise was a very smooth ride. 3rd row is the best place for hang time. With this row being closer to the center of mass than the front row, it passes through the tops of the inversions more slowly than the front row. You'll want to keep your hands up the whole time to take advantage of the hang time it delivers. The 2nd row is probably a similar experience. Last row gives the most snap on the first drop. You also get some hang time on this row, but not as much as the middle rows. At one point, I looked up in time to see Hangtime passing through this loop, Sky Cabin ascending its tower, and Xcelerator's train passing over the top hat simultaneously... but I didn't have my camera ready. This was as close as I got to replicating that moment. While some are calling Hangtime the best coaster in the park, I still place it behind Xcelerator and Ghostrider. Xcelerator has my favorite launch, and it's hard to beat the airtime buffet that is Ghostrider (which was closed today, unfortunately). That being said, Hangtime will definitely be a must-ride every time I visit this park. I really enjoyed this coaster, and I highly recommend you make a trip to Knott's to try it out for yourself. Guess which one I am.
  7. Scream! - Six Flags Magic Mountain
  8. In other news, KBF opened its new coaster today for a passholder preview.
  9. I've been lurking in this thread for a while and just want to say your TRs are fantastic. The play-by-play reviews of rides and parks give a great visual to someone who's never visited those parks before. I agree with you on the Batman B&M inverts... yeah, they're clones, but they're clones of a great ride.
  10. There is PLENTY of other things to see and do!!! I mean, there's almost 20 other coasters!!! (#TooSoon) In all seriousness though... There is a TON of stuff to do. Obviously, we are all hoping Steel Vengeance will be open for you. But if it's not there is no doubt about it that you will STILL have a GREAT trip! Ride Top Thrill Dragster and Maverick a few times for me! Will do. I'm really looking forward to checking out the park's Intamin collection. yep. . pretty much what I was just saying and Bill will tout skycabins as must do (which they are, tho the course is short), and I will tout Cedar Downs as a must do (which is it, and try to ride the outside horses, the centrifugal force is so much fun). I used to ski a lot, and used to get a kick out of the views you can get from a chairlift, so I'm looking forward to trying CP's sky ride. I'm definitely giving Cedar Downs a try, too.
  11. I hope they get at least one more train running on SV for CoasterMania. But with this being my first trip to CP, if I missed out on SV, it wouldn't ruin my trip for me, as it sounds like there's plenty else to do and see there.
  12. Oldie but goodie: (RIP Billy Mays)
  13. I'm planning on going Saturday; I'll post a TR, as well.
  14. I echo your thoughts on X2. It's one of the few rides that still scares me after riding it countless times. I haven't been to the park in a few weeks, but my last time there, I saw cement trucks pulling into the construction site right after park closing. They are making progress on CraZanity... slow, slow progress.
  15. Cedar Point posted an update on Steel Vengeance a little while ago. They are offering refunds to guests who purchased FL+ in advance, with the intention of using it on Steel Vengeance. Link
  16. I noticed that too, but I'm planning on showing up early anyway.
  17. i've never actually used early entry, but this is what's on the passholder section of the website. Thanks! I somehow completely missed that when I looked on the website.
  18. I'm thinking of going to the park this Saturday and taking advantage of early entry. What time does it start? I found a forum post from last year saying it started at 9:30. Is it the same this year?
  19. I believe someone posted earlier in this thread that the buildings immediately adjacent to SFMM will be retail spaces, not homes. The homes will be a little farther back.
  20. I'm 6'2", but I've never found Arrow loopers particularly uncomfortable. I'm riding CP's Corkscrew and Vortex for the first time this summer, though, so I'm interested to see how they ride.
  21. At this point, there hasn't been any word from the park about a passholder preview / soft opening, correct?
  22. I've only ridden Twisted Colossus so far, and at this point, it's my favorite coaster. I'm planning on riding Steel Vengeance (and possible Storm Chaser) at the end of this month. I'm also planning a trip to NorCal to ride Joker and Railblazer later this summer.
