Knott's Boysenberry Festival Birthday Fun
joelwee replied to fatdaddy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great report! I hit up the Boysenberry Festival a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it, as well. It sounds like the general consensus is that the sausages were the best thing on the tasting card, and I wholeheartedly agree. The guy at that booth said one family spent the entirety of all 3 of their tasting cards at that booth. That being said, everything was delicious. I didn't want to spend the extra money to try the dipped cheesecake on a stick, but after seeing your close-up pics of it, I may change my mind when I go back next week. -
Bump... I was foraging for cheap rental cars for my upcoming CP/KI trip, and the best price I found was at Costco. Granted, you have to buy a membership to reserve a rental car through them, but if you already have a membership, it's definitely worth it. My rental car (a full-size sedan, for a week) was $206, out the door. Plus, they waive the "additional driver" fee.

I'm glad to hear dispatches are going more smoothly on LL than on TNR, but that's a bummer about the single rider line. I'll wait to judge the VR after I actually try it, but for me, most of the thrill of LL is the view from the top, so the VR will probably be a "one and done" for me. How have crowds been so far this week? I heard it's expected to be packed these next couple of weeks, but I haven't been to the park in a while and could use some quality coaster time.

Crap, that looks disappointing. Looks like I'll be marathoning Corkscrew during my CP trip instead. -
The Official "TPR Coaster Poll" Thread!

I'm assuming you're happy the rumors of Viper's removal turned out to be false? Very happy, indeed. -
The Official "TPR Coaster Poll" Thread!
joelwee replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Updated and saved. Can't wait to see the results! I'll have a bunch of new coasters under my belt by this time next year, so I hope there'll be another poll. Top 5: 1. Twisted Colossus 2. X2 3. Xcelerator 4. Tatsu 5. Viper @ SFMM (haters gonna hate) -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
joelwee replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ghostrider at Knott's. This ride kicks some serious tail, especially at night. -
I spent the afternoon at the park yesterday. Even though it was raining everywhere else, it was cloudy but dry at Knott's. The clouds dissipated a little bit in mid-late afternoon, which made for a warm day. Xcelerator was testing the red train all day, but it's still not open to riders. I also saw Hangtime testing around 7:00. Several people have already posted great footage, so I'll spare you my crappy iPhone video. I like how Knott's posted Peanuts comics on the construction wall. This one was noteworthy. I'm pretty sure they're trolling us.

I count credits, but mainly for my own entertainment. As you can see in my signature, my coaster count is quite low. Besides the fact that I'm new to the coaster enthusiast world, I don't ride coasters for the sake of earning "credits". I skip the kiddie coasters at the parks I visit, and I don't go out of my way to get random wild mouse/wacky worm credits. That said, I don't look down on people who do. My main focus, when riding coasters, is to have fun. That's what this hobby is about, right? As for what counts as a credit, I just use CoasterCounter.com. They count Superman: Escape from Krypton as 2 credits (because it has two tracks) and pre-retrack and post-retrack Ghostrider as two separate credits - which is a little ridiculous, but I really don't care.

Yes, the all-season drink bottle is valid at all parks, as is the all-season paper cup plan as well. Cool, thank you! Knott’s website still shows Xcelerator being closed. Is that the case, or did they’re just not update their website yet? Edit: I just checked the webcams and don’t see any trains cycling over Xcelerator. That’s too bad... I hope they get it up and running next week.

I sure hope so! I'll be at the park next Wednesday, and that would be a major bummer if Xcelerator was still closed. Question for Knott's-going peeps: I have a Platinum Pass that I bought through Knott's. If I add on the all-season sports bottle, is it valid at all Cedar Fair parks, or just Knott's? I'm planning on visiting C.P. and K.I. this summer, so it'd be great if I could use it there.

Fantastic report. I also enjoy the jerkiness of old Arrows and Vekomas. It helps that I'm tall enough to not have my head smacked around by the horse collar restraints, too. There is a cover over the side of the end shoulder bar(s). I thought it was a hard shell, but maybe not. Green Lantern had a similar obstruction. It is a hard shell. I'm not a fan of it at all, and honestly don't see the point of having it. The back row (with only two seats) doesn't have the hard shells; I usually try to ride back there so I have room to move my arms. I don't remember ever seeing the soft cover in that picture; the park must've changed them out.

So did SFMM finally come to their senses and completely ditch VR on Revolution? They announced last year's VR at the beginning of February, but there doesn't seem to be any signs that it's returning this year. The sign on the station also says, "Classic Revolution" now. I thought it was fun to experience once or twice, but it wasn't worth the 90-minute wait when other rides had 20-30 minute waits. What do you guys think?
-
Yeah, they deleted System 32. System Restore takes forever plus then you have all those Windows Updates and boom... 6 months. As you can see in the picture you commented on... ...these 3 guys from Tech support are also rolling out a huge roll of ethernet cable (seen on the left). The guy on the platform on the right is most likely plugging the router back in after it was unplugged for 2 minutes and the guys in the middle are resetting the modem. It's really quite the operation... Thanks, I needed that laugh. I hope this activity means it'll be back up and running soon. I'm visiting the park on the 21st, and being able to ride Xcelerator would be a pleasant surprise.
