The Official "TPR 2006 UK Tour" Thread!

Ok, thanks for that Elissa, but I would still feel bad about my self if there was some people on the other side of the planet who really wanted to visit the UK, and took the last place and I live in the UK. Do you see what I mean? -Martyn -

Its just, I was going to sign up for this trip, but I live in England and I thought it would be out of order of me to be a part of this UK trip as I live in the UK & visit these parks on a regular basis and I could taking a place that someone from America wanted. Pleasurewood Hills is are owned by Grevin & Cie, who also own Parc Asterix, Walibi World & 16 other parks throught Europe, they are far from having any money problems, they are currently in them middle of re-furbishing the park. -

Hey, more great photo's Robb, hope you all enjoyed your day at my home park. Just to let you know, there are quite a few rides having an 'identity crisis' as the park is in the middle of a massive refurbishment, its currently only open until Spetember so they have more time to mae the park better. Personally I think the names were better before they were chagned, can't you tell its now owned by a French Company with all these crazy names for the rides. [EDIT] ^Well I love it, but it is my home park and my first ever park with my first ever credits! So it will always hold a place in my heart. Your best bet is to visit in a couple of years, like I said above, its currently going through a major face lift, and with all the changes that are happening, it will certainly be on the UK theme park map. -Martyn -

Coasters with high G's
martinb replied to martinb's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would say its down to how 'tight' the incline from vertical to horizontal is, all the Dive Machines have really big, long inclines, I don't know what its like on the Tower of Terror, but I would imagine its pretty tight.# You can't really pull 6G's from falling vertically face down. -
^All the trains are being refurbished, all new restraints, new transfers for the Logo, completely new paint job. It's rumoured that X-Sector will be completely refurbished for next year, but they've started on Oblivion early, all the track will be re-painted eventually to a nice crisp black, it will look good! -Martyn

Is that a much bigger Boat Jump in the back ground^^^^^^ or is it just the angle of the picture making it look bigger? -
Coasters with high G's
martinb replied to martinb's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Also they have helmets to protect their face. -
This was first mentioned when someone talked about how high the G's were on Boomerangs, well theire stats say 5.2G's which I found to be quite high, but take a look at this: http://www.rcdb.com/id1481.htm 6.3G's!!!!!!!! I thought/heard that positive G's over 6 would make your eyes gouge out of your head and your nose bleed, I didn't make that up, I heard it on a coaster programme. Anyone know of any other coasters with high G's like this? -Martyn

Until last year, BPB still tried to plug the Big One as the worlds tallest and fastest coaster, but this year they've changed it to Europes tallest and fastest, Um Stealth is faster & Silver Star is taller.

Nicola, I agree with you about Nemesis Inferno, I absolutely love it to bits, its my favourite Thorpe park ride, but then again, is there a lame B&M Invert? -Martyn -
Frade, please don't take this the wrong way, but when you had them pictures took, wereyou having a modelling shot done? Some of them pics are sooooo funny with you posing by the track, your all "Hey, look at me, hangin' out with some coaster track, yeah". I bet I ain't the only one who thought that! Just please don't take it the wrong way, please. And these pics are just from page 3! v Captions please!

Some news on Six Flags New Orleans
martinb replied to calcajun's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well with the way Six Flags are selling parks, it doesn't surprise me to hear it might not re-open. -Martyn -
Even more great photos of a great little park. Them new Vekoma trains look uuuugly! But if it makes the ride smooth, they can't be bad. Maybe we'll see more of these trains appear on some old Vekoma's? -Martyn

^ I would prosume it was open, I've seen a few photos of peeps on it, including Lou & Jeff. -Martyn -
So were the seats facing backwards on the Twin Looper actually open? They've never been open when I've been. And why did they get rid of their Log Flume?

^^ That is not a Virginia Reel, no way, thats not even a coaster. For the last 3 years I have been to BPB there has been someone with a kind of hoover sucking the water out of the boats on Valhalla, they don't do a very good job of it though. -Martyn -
