Scenery and Theming
martinb replied to BiCoastal Kid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It all depends on where your going, if you going to a "theme" park then scenery does play a big part, where as if your ging to an amusment park it doesn't really matter, for example Blackpool Pleasure Beach doesn't have hardly any scenery or themeing but it still looks great as its so compact with loads of coasters. -Martyn -
Same here, but the srtange this is, I heard on a program about coasters that if it goes over 5g's your eyes will bulge and you#ll get nose bleeds, I'm not lieing, it was serious program, more about g-froces really than roller coasters. -Martyn

^ WOO HOO, someone else has just joined the tiny Jubilee Odyssey fan club! Glad you enjoyed it Robb, I told you it wasn't 'that' rough. I've been to Fantasy Island like 6 times this year and its not been open once, and you with your bloody lipstick cam come half way across the world, on a weekday and its OPEN -Martyn -
Ok, welcome to Theme Parke Review. I'm afraid I disagree with you, I don't find the park to be good value at all, IMO its way over priced and I'm dreading what the prices are going to soar too once this new coaster opens. I've never seen any shows or parades there, where exactly do they 'parade' as theres not much room. -Martyn

Whats your favorite Vekoma?
martinb replied to Neogreeneyez's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Damn, I keep forgetting that Big Thuner Mountain at DLP is Vekoma. But you've gotta admit its a pretty average coaster that is made better by the world class themeing. IMO its the best themed coaster in the world. -Martyn -
Tilt Coaster!?!?!
martinb replied to incredicoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Where in that statement above did I say that JO is a thrill lift? Its a coaster thats hardly ever open, and I would imagine the thrill lift to have the same reliability. -Martyn -

Make sure none of you miss the Wild Mouse at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, "the" hidden Jem in the Crown of the UK Theme Parks. -Martyn -
Tilt Coaster!?!?!
martinb replied to incredicoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Tilt Coaster seems quite interesting and probably a bit scary, but I bet the reliability is very poor, same with that thrill lift, what a waste of money, Jubilee Odyssey would be open more than that. -Martyn -
Whats your favorite Vekoma?
martinb replied to Neogreeneyez's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
By far my favourite is Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris, closely followed by Rock 'n' Rollercoaster. Unlike alot people, I don't mind Boomerangs, in fact I quite like them, although later this year I will be riding an 18 year old Boomerang, with its original train. -Martyn -
Well I contacted Gerstlauer just to ask them if this is all true about the new coaster, I also asked it if was to be a custom design, and they did reply, didn't give away much though: Dear Martin, Through Gerstlauer I received your e-mail (see below). I'm responsible for sales in the UK and it's a pleasure to read that you're so enthusiastic. I can confirm that Adventure Island will get a Eurofighter roller coaster for the 2007 season, however I cannot reveal anything on the lay-out. We always leave the initiative with the client. He's paying for the roller coaster and is building up a marketing campaign around the new roller coaster. If you pay a visit to the Gerstlauer web site http://www.gerstlauer-rides.de/ every two weeks, you'll be informed on what is going on. ^ I doubt that, Chessington can afford B&M's and Intamin's, why would they get a Zamperla? Anyway, I like the idea of these little coaster companies making coasters like these, Fabbri have also designed a Launched coaster. As fun as this ride looks, I can't believe its got a trim brake at the top of the ride, just after the launch. I'm surprised that so many people tihnk these are better than Vekoma's Booster Bikes, I can see it being a fun little coaster, nothing else. -Martyn
