If you haven't been to the UK before or there are certain parks that you haven't been to before and certain rides you haven't yet been on before, what are you looking forward to the most? What park are you looking forward to visiting? And what ride are most looking forward to riding? Infact everyone, even if you have been on all the rides in England before, what are most looking forward to?? If added a few pics of some decent rides to wet your appetite! *When looking for a good photo on Stealth's tumbnails on RCDB I clicked on the one that I have chosen and stared at it for a while before noticing that I'm in that picture at the front, it freaked me out for about 5 seconds, it was really weird seeing me in a picture that I didn't know of! That ever happend to anyone else? Anyway forget that, I want to know what your looking forward to? Thanks to ww.rcdb.com One of my favourite coasters. One of the best Wild Mouse's in the world IMO Vekoma goodness The worlds most violent coaster, I'm surprised the trains make it round in one piece, after the 2nd lift hill it sounds like the trains are falling apart along with your body I'm glad someone got such a good photo with me in it!! Speed, which apparantly has mental airtime Awsome Zero-G Roll on Shockwave! Rita: Queen of Speed, apparantly Pepsi Max Big One Awsome Oblivion Inferno is good, not very intense but very good! Nemesis has one of the most intense helix's of death ever! IMO Yay, one of the best coasters in the country with EXTREME airtime

Chessington is a great park, with some excellent themeing, just glad to hear they might be getting a Huss Topple Tower in 2007! -

I've NEVER seen any bubble machines, especially around the park! -
Heres a nice video of Steath not making it over the top hat, I'm quite surprised at how close to the station it is when it comes to a complete stop! Thanks to www.coasterforce.com for this video StealthRollback.zip

Have a little read through this: http://www.themeparksofengland.com/features/launch/launch.htm Interesting I thought, it would be cool to remove a lift hill and replace it with a launch, just as an experiment. Although IMO lift hills will be around for as long as coaster will be, well all the first ever coasters built were wooden and 100 years on wooden coasters are still being built, they didn't get rid of wodden coasters becasue they were old news, they just built different types of coasters (steel), so the same really for lift hills, they ain't old news, its just there building different types of starting coasters(launched). If all coaster were launched there would'nt be any excitement in them. Although he has a good point about Rock 'n' Rollercoaster & Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris, they are launched coaster which have a long coaster layout where as Stealth, Kingda Ka, Top Thrill, Xcellorater, Rita etc are all designed around the launch, but then all of these are made my Intamin and all them leave you buzzing at the end! IMO would like to see more launched coaster with a long layout. What do you lot think about this?

There aren't any bubble machines? I said above that a load of bubble machines would be a great idea and look fab, but they haven't put any in there at all! -
Most Intense B&M!

Nemesis for me, by a long shot, especially in the back, its just insanse, after a few rides in a row my head was feeling a bit strange, its not a rough coaster at all, in fact its very smooth even though it was built 12 years ago, its probably smoother than most new coasters, but its so intense from start to finish, especially that last corkscrew! -

I reckon Bin Laden's hiding in there somewhere, maybe in that strange concrete building in the middle of the park! Seroiusly it does look like a fair ground in the middle of Iraq. Dave you are one hell of a brave man! *Someone go over there and save the flat rides, if you dare* I'm now going to treasure every minute I spend in a little park -

Here another odd one out: Why is Air in the Forbidden Valley, it has tropical music playing, palm trees and is bright blue, but its in the Forbidden Valley?!?! -
Well I must start by saying I was expecting the worst as I had heard so much about this re-vamp and none of it was good news, lots of people were saying its a 10 minute advert for Imperial Leather! Which I have to disagree with, apart from every boat having an Imerial Leather sign on it, there was only one part of the ride which I would call an "advert", thats the little room just before the lift hill, I think its ment to be an IL factory as there must at least be a couple of hundered bottles in boxes all plastered in IL signage. One quick question, whay are there ducks everywhere? Where do ducks come in to in a Bubbleworks Factory? If this was a brand new ride (not a re-vamp) I would probably like it! Well kids love it, I had to go on it about 6 times because of my girlfriends 4 year old brother! The biggest difference I noticed was when I walked in the station building bit, they had removed that "fizz" smell, if you get what I mean, it smelt like bubblegum but it made my nose tingle because it was such a "fizzy" smell, and it satyed with you through out the whole ride, that to me was the most unique thing about the old Bubbleworks, but now its been replaced with a smell like shampoo, no "fizz" in it at all!!! The impression that Chessington Website gives is that theres loads of people with clear see-through bubble heads, but no, they're just little people with massive round heads that look very stupid! There are no jokes anymore and the Cola Coaster has been replaced by the Duck n Dive Revitaliser, WTF is that all about??? I could like this ride, but when I'm on it, I know what it has replaced, the best classic dark ride the UK had!!!! Theres one thing they could have done to this re-vamp that I would have probably liked, they could have put real bubble machines everywhere, that would be fab, but theres not one, but there is lots of clear plastic bubbles hanging everywhere, which look like they came from a christmas tree! Only 2 more things to mention: This ride is situated in the Transilvania are of the park, so they re-paint the outside of the ride bright red yellow & blue, now it really fits in with transilvania!!! I was given a questionare at the end of day as we left, just about our day in general and what we enjoyed and what could be improved and I've just had a look through it and noticed a very random question, I've virtually just copied and pasteted this section of the questionare: Section J. Q1. Did you know about: (please tick) Halloween Hocus Pocus Return Ticket Express Pass Q2. If you are aware of the express pass, please rate: Value for money Simple to use Covers all the rides I want to go on Q3 What is the name of the company sponsoring the Bubbleworks? WHAT THE HELL HAS THAT GO TO DO WITH MY DAY OUT???? So overall I "could" have liked the new Bubbleworks, but when I'm on it I just miss the old one, come back Prof Burb, please! And now I'm just trying to imagine what AT, TP & Chessington's rides are going to be like in a few years time, have you seen the Tidal Wave this year? Plastered in Original Source advertising! Anyway this about the Bubbleworks, you been on it? What do you think about it? That really fits in doesn't it?

Just what do they do when a coaster stalls?
martinb replied to Three's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If you see my trip to Fantasy Island UK you will see pictures of a coaster thats has curently stalled, The Jubilee Odyssey, I don't know how but it was held near the top of a hill(horse shoe turn), it had loads of chains hanging down from the front of the trains, occasionally some people in a crane would go near it and keep pulling at the chains, like church bells, I don't know how it works but after about 2 hours of constant pulling the train moved about 10inches, eventually they got it over the horse shoe, but it stalled again before the next hill! Photos can be found here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24335 -
Good point Elissa, I would much prefer to have less high quality coaster than a mass of average coasters! If americans are complaing about their parks, they should come to England, because in England you either have a Theme Park fan or people who hate Theme parks so much they will stop them wanting to build anything!
-
In a different thread about Fantasy Island, some bloke explained about one of the staff on The Millenium Coaster being drunk, and not bothering to check their harness, he wasn't too bothered about the harness not being checked becase he's an experienced coaster rider, but what if it had been a newbee to coasters? The owner would make more money if provided wristbands for guests, I would be willing to pay £20 for wristband thats valid on ALL rides, when ALL the rides are open, which is rare!
-
On the Millenuim Coaster I was waiting about 25 minutes for the train to fill up, but on the Odyssey I wasn't, it was dispatched straight away with only a few people on it?? I've never gone to FI to just visit there, I visit Skeggy a lot, and I always go to FI for a least an hour just to go on some rides, usually the Volcano, but I couldn't imagine how angry I would be if I travelled along way to just visit FI for the day, like I would Alton Towers!! If you visit in August the Jubilee Odyssey will be open 99% guaranteed tp be open because its the summer holidays, but FI is open everyday of the week from the end of April to the end of September and I will guarantee you JO & MC will never be open during the week, and rarely be open at the weekends(unless its the school holuidays) Fantasy Island claims to be one of Britains most popular Tourist Attractions, which has to be a lie(although the market is heaving with people in the summer)! I'm also surprised that the Police haven't yet done anything about them conmen in the market, there about 3 stalls, one near the fantasy mouse, one near the 1st loop on MC and the other under the cobra roll of JO, they will take as much of money as they can, do not get sucked in to there conning ways, when they start selling there will be a group of people watching, go and watch and see for yourself how much they con people, but don't get sucked in!
-
I'm not really defending it, I said in the begginning that JO would be liked alot more if it was a little park and was looked after! And the caravans have nothing to do with FI, thats just the view you get from all the tall rides, I was just explaining that the caravans are holiday parks, not travellers! I see where you are coming from though! But I'm honestly not defending it, its a bad bad park with some good rides which would be petter placed elsewhere!
-
Thast a bit over the top, I know its rough but its far from the roughest in the world, ME hurts when you go down hill in a straight direction, JO just hurts in the usuall SLC places, like I said above, I bet if JO was a nice little park and it was looked after a lot more, it would be liked a lot more, I bet you were in such a bad mood because you were in such a bad park so you then hated everything about it! About the caravans, its not like they're pikies caravans, there holiday parks, its a very popular holiday destination is Skegness, one of Britains most popular, so its bound to have loads of Holiday Parks!
-
Nope not them, they are identicle to the xxl afterburner but they go the whole way over!
-
Right, where do I start? Good points: It has the best skyline of any park in the UK, closely followed by Thorpe Park. It does have some excellent rides! Bad points: The staff are the rudest bunch of chavs you will ever meet, all complete with eyebrow piercings, burberry hats etc. The big rides are never open, unless its busy. The market, for gods sake, you either want a theme park or a market, you can't have both, it don't work! Ride maintenance, does it exsist? Example, Fantasy Mouse purchased in 2000, have you seen what it looks like now? Its covered in mouldy green fungessy stuff, yuck! It used to be bright orange, now its two tone of rust and mould! And during the easter wekeend Absolutely Insane hadn't even been put back together following the closed season! Jubilee Odyssey, alot of people hate this ride, I persnollay like it, I would just love it to be sold to another park, where it would be maintained well and looked after, then I think more people would like it! **The Jubilee Odyssey train is currently stuck between the horse shoe turn & sidewinder, its been like that for nearly a week now, knowone has even gone near it!** Paying system, big rides £4 each, the rest 60p tokens, average of 4 tokens per ride, how bad is that? The greed form the owner! I know all theme parks are there to make money, but alot UK parks also think about their guests and what they want, but this one doesn't, I know he's invested alot into the park over the last few years, but have you noticed that big rides are starting to leave, G-Force went a few years ago, now the BIG wheel's going. My Dad knows of the owner of Fantasy Island, he told me hes not a nice person, apparantly he charges £10,000-£15,000 per market stall per year! And have you seen how many there are??? So for as long as hes in charge, the markets going knowhere!! So does all this make it one of the worst parks in the world? Like I said, it has some great rides, but they're not used to their full potenial, like they would be if they were at a "real" theme park Rides I like: The Beast, Volcano, Jubilee Odyssey, Millenium Coaster, Techno Jump, Dragon Falls water slide, Absolutely Insane, but I would love to see all these rides re-located to other parks, preferably small UK parks like Pleasurewood Hills, Pleasure Island, Lightwater Valley etc! Please tell me of your experiences of this so called "Britains No.1 themed resort?? If you don't have any experiences, your lucky, but feel free to comment!! Nice skyline, & thats it for the good points! Jubilee Odyssey train, just sitting there waiting for something to happen! Absolutely Insane over the Easter weekend!
-
In fact, do any coasters make you fell sick? When it comes to coasters, I've got an iron stomach, but when it's flat rides I quivver up in a ball and the slightest spin will make my gut a wee bit funny, although Topscans and Topspins have never made me feel queezy! The worst for me is probably Waltzers, especially when the people spin them!

That park looks like a lot of fun! Thanks -
I thought these rides went the whole way over? I've seen one similar to it, not so big, called Oblivion, that went the whole way over!

rcdb strangeness -- re: dual track coasters
martinb replied to Three's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The pictures where of the same coaster, RCDB claims there are 2 coasters, but none of the pictures show two coasters in them, they are all the same pictures! I got bored, so I started looking at threads from the back pages -
