New TPR TV Test! Please read and help out!
RCFreak replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can see all three videos now, and I'm on Opera 9.52. The videos stream fine, but I cannot get it to go fullscreen unless I'm on the videos main page. The Volume is slightly cut off for me in the embeded video, but seems to work just fine. I love the project! -
All times are based off of GMT. Click Profile up top then click over to the Profile tab. On the left there should be a "profile settings" link. you can add or subtract as many hours as you need to get it to your correct time. To double check, just click submit and the link to return to your profile, the time in the Date Format box should be your time.

RCFreak replied to santosh123's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Only the first video shows up on both on Opera 9.52 and Firefox 3.0.3 both running Adobe Flash Player version 9.0.124.0. -
It's been a while, but it's time for another TR from Hector! YAY! This time it was off to Universal Studios Hollywood for their Halloween Horror Nights, featuring the same mazes as last year, but "different." I didn't go last year, so I couldn't tell you the differences, but I can definitely say i was glad I didn't because I was definitely not that impressed this year. Don't get me wrong, The mazes they had were excellent quality, but something just felt "off" about the whole thing. I'll definitely take Knott's Scary Farm over Hollywood's HHN for now. The night started later then I hoped so by the time we got there, it was already about 7:30 so we headed down to the Lower lot and took a couple of spins on Mummy and into the first house of the night The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Back in Business. I definitely think it was the best maze they had. The smells were more then enough to throw me off, and the set designs were great! Rant time though, I'm definitely going to have to say lay off the squirting water Universal, not every single one of your attractions has to soak us. It gets really annoying after a while when EVERY SINGLE FREAKING MAZE/ RIDE/ WALK-THROUGH HAS SOMETHING SQUIRTING US WITH FREAKING WATER. Next up we headed over to the Terror tram to walk around the movie sets (and again, get squirted with water...) the highlight for me definitely had to be the bunnies with chainsaws! There was also a total Disney Dork moment on the Tram as the guide on our way back was doing the stretching room spiel from Disney's Haunted Mansion, before getting squirt with water... again... but they did show us a red band trailer for The Wolf Man starring Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins. We went back up the the upper lot and conquered A Nightmare on Elm Street: Home Sweet Hell, which was another extremely well done maze, except we again get squirted with water... Since it was right there, we headed right over to Friday the 13th: Camp Blood. Another fantastic maze; and yet again we get squirted with water... It just got damn annoying at this point. Universal's House of Horrors, the permanent Maze they always have set up, was great, but no different then any other time of the year. I actually think that was the only thing that didn't squirt us with water, or we must have just missed it. After going through all the mazes, we went and saw a bit of Chucky's Insult Emporium, which aside from the performer sounding like a gay Brooklyn-er, I thought it was hilarious! Next up was The Simpson's Ride, which was a lot better then I was actually expecting. We waited about 30 minutes for it, and I didn't feel like it was a waste of my time. After that we headed over to the last performance of Bill and Ted's which I thought was great. I can't wait to see how Florida's compares as some of the jokes just wouldn't work out there. The park was closed by the time we got out so we hung out for a bit before heading out for home. Overall, I would say it's a good event that I definitely don't think is worth $54 yet. Hopefully next year they come back with an additional maze or two and a completely different theme (which I think it will since I keep hearing the deal with New Line was only for 2 years) Enough of my blabbing, on with some pics! Good Night Freddy. It was almost 1AM and they were still doing their thing. That I will definitely give it. RUN! They're coming out of the Fog! Spooky London street Definitely NOT recommend for those under the age of 18. I was trying to get a pic of this in one of the Scare zones, but the monsters wouldn't leave me alone lol This was the best I could do. Yeah, Shrek 4-D is most definitely my Nightmare There were too many pushy people to stop and try and get a good pic without using my flash, so you get a VERY bright War of the World set taken over by Freddy Kruger. The side of the Psycho house. In the Queue they showed a few death scenes from the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise as well as some clips from Universal's classic monster movies. In case you forgot which maze you are at. I think I saw this in a movie once... Biggest reason to get to the Lower Lot first. Power 106 (local [c]rap station) was in front of the Simpon's Ride so you get a lightly off center picture. I like that they had clowns with chainsaws in this area too. The scare zones were pretty cool too. I had more fun walking around these more then some of the mazes. Turn off the lights and it's what nightmares are made of! Biggest reason I hate using a flash, it washes out the awesome lighting job done by the creative team. Freddy's Girls are far from your worst nightmare. One of these things are not like the other. They had the iconic red and green striped patterned cloth all over the entrance marquee. The entrance gates are just waiting to swallow our souls I liked this pic better, but I was too lazy to wait for it to turn again. Welcome to Your worst nightmare.

Eric's 2008 Theme Park Adventures Updated 4/5
RCFreak replied to live2tell75's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Awesome start, can't wait to see more pics. It was nice meeting you, and I wish we could have hung out a bit more, but I was trying to entertain a non-enthusiast friend so I didn't want to leave her alone too long lol. Hopefully we'll get to hang out again soon. -
Theme Park Review's 2008 Asia Tour!
RCFreak replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Terrorist cookie FTW! Atlantis Adventure looks like a really fun coaster, nothing too huge, but not too short either and it looks great for families (especially since you can't see a lot of the ride) and having just ridden El Toro, I can't wait to see what T-express has to offer. -
I don't get it, isn't the Silly Symphony Swings what the people have been complaining the most about DCA? That it's juts a bunch of dressed up carnival rides? I personally have always liked DCA and welcome these changes, but the praise for some of this stuff is baffling (not here necessarily, just what I've seen in general across the Disney boards) That said, I still definitely look forward to the enhancements all over the park.

Ben and Laurice's Quest for Credits
RCFreak replied to itnotfair's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I haven't been able to get out that way in a while, so I'm not sure, the ride looked complete except for it's comsetic changes (aka stickers) so if it's not already then it should be soon. -

RCFreak replied to itnotfair's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've been to that park exactly one time in my entire life living out here(about 10 years ago actually) and it looks like nothing has changed! At least Castle Park has added new rides lol. Great TR and glad to know I don't need to go back yet any time soon. -
My guess is there will be plenty of victims, plenty of the pig headed attackers, a few motion activated animatronic scares themed to the traps from the movies, and a few of the dolls thrown in for fun, the one from Saw 4 comes to mind. I'll definitely put this on the list, but it's pretty far down with other things that I want to do first.

^Not according to this study done by the FDA, it's a bit older and there definitely has been advances in the contact field, but most of it still applies today. Don't take a chance with your eyes, you could definitely lose them later on if you are not careful with or without contacts. I don't take the chance and usually take them out and clean them and replace them often. And like I said, occasionally is fine, just don't make a big habbit out of it. I usually fall asleep with my contacts in once every month or so (more like pass out drunk, but that's a whole other conversation)

^^Go to the Library! lol I'm not saying it was bad, a tad too slow for my tastes though. I also did just finish reading Dean Koontz's Lightning a few nights before starting it so that might have hurt it a bit, but it's definitely a teen romance novel first and foremost. Go into it like that and it should disapoint, I wasn't expecting much of it and the last two chapters were pretty fun. I do know I made some girls at work VERY angry when i told them this though lol.

I just finished Twilight by Stephanie Meyer (meh on that one, should make a melodramatic mediocre film later this year) it has Vampires and Werewolves, does that count? If not I'm still about halfway through Brian Keene's Ghoul (YAY Elissa Bingo prize, thanks Dave!) and I'll probably pick something up between now and Halloween. I also love The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson, We read it in my seventh grade english class and I loved it! Shirley Jackson's The Lottery is definitley a GREAT short story everyone should read as well.

Just because you can sleep with them on, definitely doesn't mean you should. Sleeping with contacts in can lead to corneal ulcers, infections, and could lead to other very serious problems for your eyes further in your life. Not to say doing it every once in a while is not ok (it is) it's just you shouldn't make a habit of it. Also, If you properly take care of your lenses, they can last you a while. I usually change my lenses every two - three months just to keep it feeling fresh and to ensure the lenses themselves don't tear as that can also badly damage your corneas. That said, I do wear both (when I can afford both lol) I've been wearing contacts and glasses for quite a few years now, and I can definitely pull both looks off (yay me!) so it's kinda whatever I feel like wearing or have, like now I only have contacts. I definitely like having both as the pros and cons listed can apply to both. I've also never lost a contact or had one fall out randomly. .

Similar to what Universal did with Haloween Horror Nights in orlando when you called the number for the detectives line, the new movie Eagle Eye has something similar (and far more creepy) set up. The movie stars Shia LaBeouf and Michelle Monaghan as two ordinary people forced to do extraordinary things when they get mysterious phone calls. If you haven't seen the trailer yet, it looks like a fun movie. Eagle Eye Free Fall is pretty simple, simply Click here and enter your information and play along. It takes about ten minutes of your time and really sets the tone of the movie.

Roller Coaster Reality Show
RCFreak replied to TheCoasterCritic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Disney definetly wouldn't, and they're probably the main chain that would be of major interest of such a show. A behind the scenes of a Cedar Fair park probably wouldn't be all that interesting. There is more then enough Drama that goes on at the Cedar Point dorms then MTV's The Real World, literally. It's basically the same premise too, you get a bunch of strangers to live together for up to six months in a tiny gated community (and apartments/ rooms) and shit always hits the fan before long. The show in the US was Murder in Small Town X which aired in 2001 and the contestants were "killed off" at the end of the episode, Stupid Fox didn't bring it back for more then one season though. -
Castle Park to open Dragon Flyers!
RCFreak replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^The area were the rides are going was just a field (perhaps a special event area as it is right next to the big top restaruant) and I'm pretty sure no rides were removed for the two new ones. As for the coaster, it's in it's final make-over so it shouldn't be too much longer before the coaster opens (hopefully?) Anyway, here are a couple of pics I took on August 24 so it could be much farther along then this. It's like the coasters I would build in RCT1 to save space. The Flyers in flight at night. Look at me I'm a regular Dr. Suess. This Scrambler has a 10 minute Cycle and it's not weak. The S&S Double Shot "Dragon's Tower", it's so cute. The larson Fireball without using the cages. This park still has their Falling Star and it runs great. The decal going on the front. At least they won't keep the Nascar theme. the white trunk is on the freeway to give you an idea of where in the park this is going.
