  1. HOLY CRAP ... I'm so out of it. It was indeed Colossus that I last rode though, not Revolution. Although Colossus was rather crappy.
  2. Has anybody else in the LA area checked out the "New" 93.1. For those of you unfamiliar with the pathetic radio station in LA consider yourself lucky. Not only did we have 2 Classic Rock stations, they both pretty much sucked. Although Arrow (The old 93.1 station was better than KLOS IMO). Our "Modern" rock station KROQ should be renamed KRAP. Our Hip-Hop stations are annoying. About the only good thing on the FM dial has been KLSX, but with Stern leaving next year I'm sure that will be crap. Anyway, it's an all new format that basically plays anything and everything, and it's all good. In the past week I have heard everything from Aerosmith to Madonna to AC/DC to No Doubt to Flock of Seagulls to The Mars Volta to Run DMC. It's a really different mix of music, but strangely enough I REALLY like it. One of their tag-lines is "It's like your Ipod, on random" and it really is. If you are in LA definately check it out. 93.1 has moved from #4 on my radio pre-sets to #2 behind 97.1. It may move to that spot soon.
  3. The Who - Pinball Wizard
  4. LOL!! Well, my belly is significantly smaller these days. Still not "small", just "smaller". Gregg "Hoping to lose another 10 lbs before WaterPark season" C.
  5. Over the weekend: Robots: It was cute. Not as good as the Incredibles or Shrek 2, but WAY better than A Sharks Tale Wimbledon: Sure it was predictable, but it was still good. Kirsten Dunst is way hot. I Heart Huckabees: I couldn't get into it, lasted about 30 minutes.
  6. I remember we went looking for the park when we got Married in Vegas. We were at the MGM, and still couldn't find the damn place. It was pathetic. Gregg "Wanted to get the "Credits" even though at the time didn't know what "Credits" were. " C.
  7. It's scheduled to reopen on July 15. It's the same layout, although it's all new. New Track, new Queue, new platform, new effects, etc. I for one am glad that they didn't go with the DLRP style ride. The old layout was fun, not too extreme. I think I saw somewhere that the height requirement went from 40" to 44". I wouldn't be surprised to see Big Thunder follow suit.
  8. For those of you who don't feel like signing up: I think it's idiotic that Six Flags is going to have this opportunity with 2 MAJOR sports venues less than 5 square miles away from the park. A Super Bowl coming on 2011. Any improvements made to the park over the next 6 years can be made up with 1 full football season and 1 super bowl week. Easily. SFOT, IMO is in a perfect geographical area. Moreso than Disneyland and a hell of alot more than SFMM.
  9. It's so hard to think of my favorites, there are so many great ones: Arcade: Ghost's n' Goblins Galaga Ms. Pac Man Donkey Kong Pac Man Tron Star Wars Dragon's Lair Asteroids Tempest Q*Bert Berzerk Centipede Street Fighter II Police Trainer Daytona USA Console: Mike Tyson's Punch Out Super Mario 1,2,3 Castlevania 1,2 Excitebike Zelda Super Mario World Final Fantasy III (the best one of the series IMO) Super Star Wars Super Empire Strikes Back Super Return of the Jedi Donkey Kong Country Street Fighter II Tecmo Bowl Tecmo Super Bowl Mario Party Tony Hawk Series Super Monkey Ball 1,2 Cool Spot PC Command and Conquer Heroes of Might and Magic RCT 1 and 2 Monkey Island Series I'm sure there ALOT more I can't think of right now ..
  10. Why does Soarin' close if it's raining??? That doesn't make any sense ...
  11. ^ No!! If I do Wild Adventures it will be before Kristi get's there. If we do Dollywood it would be on Friday if I can get out of the Friday conference stuff, which is a possibility right now. If I can't get out of it then it's just SFOT on Saturday and no Dollywood. Gregg " Maybe getting some "Solo" Credits" C.
  12. Okay, so I have the Tuesday of my business trip to GA open next month. Since I am pretty sure I'm going to rent my own car I was thinking of maybe taking a day trip to Wild Adventures. This will all have to be done in a day. From Atlanta to Wild Adventures and back to Atlanta. I was thinking of leaving at 6am, get to Wild Adventures at 10am. 10 - 2 at the park and then 4 hours back to Atlanta. Is this doable? Is this advisable? Gregg "Who wishes that SFOG or even Dollywood were open on that Tuesday" C.
  13. Sure the schedule we did was hectic, but you have an extra day in there. It's totally doable. I mean, if you want to get the most out of your trip sometimes you have to be hectic. Heck, when I go to Atlanta next month I'm probably doing some insane 1 day drives. Atlanta to Wild Adventures back to Atlanta on the same day. Atlanta to Dollywood back to Atlanta on the same day.
  14. This actually sounds cool to me ... I swear, at this rate I'm going to have 5 versions of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Indiana Jones before all is said and done.
  15. I thought about that after I posted ... I'm surrounded by SmartAsses!!! Gregg "It takes one to know one" C.
  16. Took this on Saturday ... good shot of Jaws ...
  17. ^ Don't do that ... Just learn and move on. Nobody asked you to leave. Gregg "Your post was already an improvement ... " C.
  18. I actually liked Flashback when it first opened. I think the ride can be made good again, especially with the nice new B&M restraints that they use for their hyper-trains. I don't think it will be back at SFMM anytime soon, if ever. But, if they aren't going to use it, tear it down, expand HH and let some other park have it. Same goes for Greezed' Lightning up at SFMW. Put it somewhere for God's sake!!!
  19. So what CD's are on heavy rotation on your personal radio station? This week in my CD case: Rush: Moving Pictures Genesis: Genesis Harry Connick Jr: Songs I heard Green Day: American Idiot Slipknot: Iowa Depeche Mode: Violator The Choir: Wide Eyed Wonder U2: How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb Jars of Clay: Much Afraid Barry White: Greatest Hits Burning for Buddy: A Tribute to the Music of Buddy Rich Soundtrack: O Brother Where Art Thou Lisa Loeb: Tails The Strokes: Is this it? The Cure: Wish White Zombie: La Sexorcisto - Devil Music Vol. I "Weird Al" Yankovic: Poodle Hat Frank Sinatra: Sinatra at the Sands with Count Basie I basically listen to music 8 hours a day when I am not teaching a class ... like this week.
  20. Is anybody else watching this season of Survivor??? The show was getting a little tired last year, but this years show, so far has been totally awesome. They keep throwing curves at the tribes, and the supposed "Stronger" tribe has been getting their asses kicked. Last nights episod was, IMHO the best of this season so far. SPOILERS: So the tribes are going for a "Reward" challenge. At the Challenge they are told that both teams would be going to Tribal Council. The team that won the award would have to vote somebody out, then move to the "Jury" side where they would enjoy stew, root beer, etc. But, they also got to eat it in front of the other tribe who was doing Tribal Council. If that wasn't enough, they also got to vote to give 1 person on the other tribe immunity. They gave it to the person who was going to get voted out, so that made it even more interesting. I hope they keep making cool twists.
  21. If I'm back from Chicago you know I'm there for ya!!! Of course, if I have a chance to go to any parks, your screwed!!!
  22. Here is the schedule we did from our trip last year: Day 1: Arrived at DFW (Dallas Fort-Worth Airport) at 5:30am. Rented our car and headed straight for Houston. Got to SFAW at 10:00 for opening, spent about 5 hours at the park. Drove to San Antonio. Made it to SFFT for the last hour of park opening then checked into our hotel. Day 2: SFFT for about 4 hours (The 1 hour the night before made this possible) Lunch at Carabba's Drove to New Braunfels, checked into our Hotel and headed for Schlitterbahn. Spent about 3 hours at Schlitterbahn to do the Blasters. Day 3: Schlitterbahn for about 5 hours, both sides of the park. If we hadn't gone the night before we wouldn't have gotten on the Blasters. It was busy. Left at about 4pm headed for Dallas. Made it to SFOT for the last hour of park opening (see a trend here?) Day 4: SFOT until about 6pm. Fly Home. Now, you have 5 days. You could EASILY fit SFFT and SWSA in on the same day. They are within a few miles of each other. I don't know if you need 2 FULL days at Schlitterbahn. My suggestion is if you are going to spend 2 days anywhere, it should be SFOT. Don't discount SFAW so quickly, it's not a bad park IMO. Robb and Elissa are the true experts, so I'm sure they will have more tips for you.
  23. Nice Pics Evan I think Josh was certainly the most photogenic person of the weekend.
  24. Thanks Robb ... I tried to read that post earlier, I just didn't have the brain capacity to do so.
