Floorless Coasters....Great or Hype?
Sir Clinksalot replied to ChrisFL's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I like them as well, but dont' think they would offer anything unique over a regular B&M Multi-Looper. Then again I haven't been on a regular B&M sit-down yet so what do I know? Out of the 2 Floorless Coasters I have been on Superman Krypton Coaster is certainly better than Scream. -
Even with the free admission and the beach that's still a pretty good number. Six Flags is a major chain and is getting beat by a beach park. Can't be a good thing. Another interesting thing is the Adventuredome at #11 and PCW at #16 with a 30% increase in attendance. Also interesting to note that SFMM is the lowest of the non-seasonable parks.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7346536 I think the most disturbing part of the article is that the cops didn't at least escort her to the hospital after they pulled her over.

Actually, I believe it's just "Krissa" (no T). We spent most of it wondering how early before park opening they had to shoot most of it. Otherwise, homegirl would've had to wait 20 minutes just to get within stun gun distance of Goofy. Ah, Disney propaganda. We left it on overnight. I'd perk up everytime the ToT commercial came on (admit it - it's clever), then groan everytime I head "dad - are we still in the building" for the M:S commercial.

Virginia: BGW vs. PKD
Sir Clinksalot replied to Three's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When we went to PKD, we were awestruck. Our local Paramount park is Carowinds, and the variety of attractions, theming, and overall atmosphere at PKD blew PC outta the water. When we left that park, our opinion was essentially "Wow. BGW is gonna have to be pretty good to beat this place!" 24 hours later, we forgot PKD existed. As Robb said a while ago in a Cedar Pointe thread, it's better to be in a park with more quality coasters than a park with a higher total of coasters (okay, that was a horrible paraphrasing, but you get the point). There was nothing at PKD I got off of wanting to go back on again (okay, except maybe that cool bobsled thing). I lost count of how many times I rode Alpengeist while I was at BGW. I had dreams weeks later about Apollos Chariot. I'd drive there right now to ride Apollo's Chariot again. And the other two coasters, while not EXTREME COASTERS, are still well maintained, highly enjoyable, quality rides. Visually, Loch Ness Monster is one beautiful hunk of steel. That's not to say that PKD is bad - quite the contrary, I'll be returning again this year. But that's not the part of the trip I'm looking forward to (kinda like how I look forward to IOA, not another trip to Sea World). -
Don't hold your breath on that single rider line. Folks in the Carolinas are too stupid to understand the concept. Towards the end of last season, they completely abandoned using it. A friend of mine was there last Saturday and said the line was blocked off by trash cans. Yeah, and I totally want a copy of that video. Be expecting a PM shortly.

I generally tend to categorize this as the movies I will stop on when flipping channels and watch, no matter how badly edited. Jaws. A classic. Where's the Thirtieth Anniversary Rerelease, Universal?!? Hunt for Red October. Alec Baldwin is Jack Ryan. That's it. Raiders of the Lost Ark. This thing looks like it could have been made last week. Grosse Pointe Blank - One John Cusack film to rule them all (with High Fidelity as the runner up) Shaun of the Dead. I would normally hesitate to include such a recent film, but words cannot explain how much I love this friggin' movie. I got the import soundtrack. I ordered a Zombaid t-shirt. It may help that I'm a massive fan of the British series "Spaced."

I half expect her parents to file a new lawsuit saying that no heartbeat doesn't really mean that she's dead. I was in Orlando last weekend. I would have liked to have found ONE channel in the hotel that wasn't wall-to-wall Terri Schiavo. (and the Top 7 Things to Do at Disney channel doesn't count, though I wish someone would give THAT girl a feeding tube. We were counting ribs during the water park segment) (for the 4 people who know what I'm referring to, thanks)

Hey, Barry, long time no see (remember the guy who did Infestation before you got punished by the Director?). Do you know about the back gate at Carowinds? Rather than going to the front entrance, if you continue around the parking lot there is a second gate that leads directly to Top Gun. Most folks hit the front gate (and waste their time on the not-terribly-fun BORG Assimilator), so you can usually get quite a few rides in on Top Gun before the crowds show up (most of the time the ride ops will let you stay on for a second ride if no one's waiting in your row). You ever do a video for that HHN? (by the way, for those who don't know, Barry was SEVERELY abused by the director at Infestation. He got the roaches, scorpions, and snakes. If I had my laptop with me, I'd upload a shot of him with his noggin almost completely obscured by snakes. I only got the roaches)

Best Theme Park Food

15 visits to Islands of Adventure, and I've never been to Mythos. Shameful, isn't it? That's because I can't imagine a world where there's a better place than the Enchanted Oak Restaurant and Alchemy Bar. I shall try Mythos one day. This I swear. -
Visiting Orlando in a month:
Sir Clinksalot replied to Rooey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Lord help us all, I'm in a prolific mood again tonight (that's cause I work nights in a projection booth, and there's a whole lot of downtime). First off, I don't want to debate what other folks have said, but if you're going to be there for two weeks there's really no need to be running around parkhopping every day. The very idea that Epcot can be hammered out in a matter of hours is extraordinarily questionable. Anyway (had to get that off my chest), here I go: You didn't mention anything about Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, or Sea World. I'm sure that was unintentionally, because going to Orlando for an extended period of time and not visiting all these parks is obscene. Since you did mention Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, I'm recommending you look into picking up Orlando Flex Tickets. They give you 14 days unlimited access to Universal Studios, Universal Islands of Adventure, Universal CityWalk, SeaWorld Orlando, Wet 'n Wild, and Busch Gardens. While I've never utilized this pass (AP holder for Sea World and Universal), it seems like a terribly good deal, and I believe there's also shuttles you can take to Busch Gardens (it's about an hour drive, and a terribly dull one at that). If you don't already have your Disney tickets, get on the ball. You can get nice discounts for ordering online in advance. Check it out at the Disney website. As far as packages go, you may want to check out a few of the add ons. There's a Magic Plus option that includes some of the other Disney destinations such as Pleasure Island, DisneyQuest, and the water parks. The one thing I would be cautious of is overbuying the tickets. I would guess a 4 or 5 day ticket will do just fine if you want to thoroughly enjoy each thing the different parks have to offer. You're going to have to make that decision on your own. Just make sure it's an informed decision. As has already been stated, get to the parks early. In case there's any confusion on this point, "early" does not mean "twenty minutes before the park's posted opening time." "Early" means no less than 45 minutes before the park's posted opening time. I generally aim for an hour, but if you gotta be a little later, try not to push it too much. Parkgoing in Florida can be akin to a military maneuver. Getting there first is half the battle (the other half of the battle, oddly enough, is wearing the right shoes. Military maneuvers can be strange that way). Staying at Lake Buena Vista, huh? I have to plead minor ignorance on Disney property resorts - are you staying at a place that's considered "on property," and therefore you can take advantage of the magic hour stuff, or are you staying at a place that's considered "real close to Disney, but don't count on the perks?" That should affect which days you go to which parks. If Magic Kingdom opens early and you're considered "on property," then you need to be at Magic Kingdom real early that morning. If Epcot opens early and you're considered "NOT on property," I'd recommend you keep far, far away from Epcot that day (the same applies to the late closings). Go ahead and check that info at Disney.com (it can be a pain to naviagate there, but if you found this site, I'm betting you can manage the Mouse's website). If you're not on property, don't ask the folks at the front desk which Disney parks open early. They'll look at you like a dog that's just been shown a card trick (anyone got that obscure reference?). You're renting a car, right? Paying to park at parks sucks. Having to wait an eternity for that "convenient shuttle" to show up, however, sucks out loud. Just remember, we drive on the wrong right side over here. Got sunscreen? As far as Sheikra goes, the best thing you can do is keep an eye on these boards. If you haven't heard anything by the time you leave, maybe try scheduling that Busch Gardens day as late in your trip as possible. You may get lucky. Hitting parks everyday can be more than a little rough - since schools are still in session in late April/early May, Saturdays are going to see the largest attendance spikes. Schedule parks that are lower on the totem pole for those days (like Sea World or Animal Kingdom). Actually, it'd be best to just skip parks altogether on those days. There's plenty else to do in Orlando. As far as individual park strategies go, everyone has a different idea of what's best. Some folks at Magic Kingdom head straight for the mountains. I head straight for Fantasyland. If I can have that area knocked out before it turns into the double stroller demolition derby, I'm a happy man. I will second the earlier post that mentioned hitting Test Track early. It amazes me that Test Track can have a 45 minute wait while Mission Space can have a 15 minute wait. Mission Space is, incidentally, worth your time. It's not the Spiderman killer Disney undoubtably hoped for, but it's still a very good ride. I haven't a clue when Soarin' opens in Epcot, but if it's open, expect a good chunk of the opening crowd to head there first (the other half will head straight for Test Track - it should be noted that this is one of the best chances you'll get to get a character picture taken - eveyone's so busy running for the E ticket attractions, they ignore the fact that 10 or so characters are waiting behind Spaceship Earth to pose for shots). FASTPASS. Learn it. Maps are readily available online. Learn the lay of the lands. I gotta go start a couple of movies. That's all I got for now. If you want more info, lemme know. If you want me to shut the hell up, lemme know. If you want to mix elephant DNA with a pot bellied pig...that's just a silly idea. -
Oakwood Discussion Thread
Sir Clinksalot replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When people go to parks they mostly check their IQ's at the gate. It's sad, but true. Basically you have to cater to the lowest common denominator these days. -

It's sad that she's gone, but it's also a good thing. If this is what she wanted all along then she is happy again. It will be interesting to see in the Autopsy how brain damaged she was. For the family's sake I hope it was severe.

Yeah, but you have to give them credit on this one, although it wasn't a very expensive leg so that made it easy to stay in. I'm actually glad that Ray and Deana are gone, they were getting on my nerves. Gregg "Rob and Amber should have at least asked if everyone was okay" C.
