Anyone ridden all the RMCs yet?
CoasterDirected replied to kweiss's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm obviously a minority in this but I adore Goliath, more so than OR and Storm Chaser. I don't know why I don't like OR as much as it has way more elements, roughly the same size, etc. but Goliath is just superb to me. The drop is phenomenal and the inversions are easily the best of any coaster I've been on. (Pretzel loops come close) It's just an extremely fun ride that has me smiling and laughing the entire time. I really like Storm Chaser but the second half was... different? The first half is absolute perfection but it felt too slow after the barrel roll and the airtime was uncomfortable for some reason. I prefer ejector air way more than floater but the airtime on the last few hills feels almost Magnum-esq. I really like Magnum, but I don't think that style of airtime works for an RMC. NTAG however, thats my sh*t -
I'd be very sad to see Dragons go... I absolutely love the ride and if I can nail down one ride that put me into this hobby it would have to be it. It wasn't my first looping coaster (Invertigo) but it was the first one that blew me away. Hulk definitely helped cement me as a would be enthusiast or whatever, but this ride is very special to me. However, it hasn't been the same since it stop dueling.

Sheikra at BGT, absolutely insane in the back row first drop, rest of the ride is good but not amazing. I personally prefer Valravn due to it's much more solid second half but Sheikra has one of the best drops on any coaster I've ridden. Up there with Millie, Maverick, and Goliath (GAm). -
What are your TOP TEN COASTERS

Guilty. Kumba is complete greatness. Ride in the back row, far seat (next to the exit platform)... seriously, take notes. It's important. Get ready to fly in the zero G roll. Ride Montu in the back row also and make sure to save some room for two big B&M's in your top 10 list. Sheikra and Cheetah Hunt are a slight step down for me but are both amazing coasters. Scorpion rules too. Notes taken. I'm very excited for this park! You should be. I love that park to death. It's easily my favorite park in Florida despite the amazing competition. Check out the Cheetah Presentation too... The one right by Cheetah Hunt? Loved that, really showed the power and speed of the park's cheetahs. Overall an amazing day and was going to finish it off with a ride of Falcon's Fury after Montu, but decided to hightail it back to Kumba and got an amazing zen ride all by myself in the front seat. I'm a sucker for launched/Intamin coasters so Cheetah Hunt was obviously my favorite by Kumba blew me away. I rode it backseat earlier on and that zero-g roll in insane! SeaWorld and Busch Gardens are now easily my favorite parks is Florida. Definitely going to save 2 days for the BGT next time though. -

Manta and Mako are currently somewhere in my top 10, however my first trip to BGT is tomorrow... I have a sneaking suspicion an Intamin Blitz coaster and B&M Invert may breach the top 10... (Maybe Kumba as well) -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

Kraken at Sea World as of 3 hours ago -
Had an absolutely incredible time at SeaWorld today. Overall, an amazing park with great shows, a great atmosphere, and amazing rides. I loved this park way more than I thought I would and completely entertained the entire day. Lemme just give a quick grade to each ride. Manta: A Times Ridden: 4 Easily best flying coaster I've been on, tons of fun. Pretzel loop is super forceful and crazy in the back row, rest of the ride is tons of fun with the second half of the ride my favorite part. Coasting over the water with the fountains going off is awesome and flying so close through the rock work beats any near miss on a wing coaster. Journey To Atlantis: B/B- Very fun water coaster, my first by Mack Rides. Was missing the hologram in the opening scene and a few other effects were down. Drop was fun and the final coaster section was surprisingly good. Kraken: B Times Ridden: 2 Easily my favorite floorless (only have ridden Rougarou). "Rattly" as hell, but to be honest, I don't give a damn. Had zero head-banging, and the entire ride is tons of fun. Drop was underwhelming but the rest of the ride made up for it. Zero-G roll was great. Especially love the second half when it dives into the trenches and tunnels and that final corkscrew was awesome. Mako: A+ Times Ridden: 7 What? This thing blew away my expectations, easily destroys my now second favorite B&M Hyper, Diamondback. It's extremely well paced and has very strong floater, even on the hill that has the trim. Second half is great with the overbanks, although it is a little slow. Best seat was definitely front, followed closely by the back for the insane airtime on the drop. The other seats are good but I would not rate it as high as I currently am if I only rode middle seats. Bottom line, probably top 5 coaster. Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin: C- Times Ridden: 1 I was very disappointed in this ride. I didn't know exactly what to think except for a trackless dark ride with some real penguins in it. Was the longest wait of the day around 40 minutes when Mako was a walk-on and honestly I regret it. The trackless functionality is completely wasted and even the "wild" setting was extremely tame. It felt like I was in a warehouse with fake ice, and I know that is technically the case, I shouldn't feel like that. HPATFJ and Spiderman are some of my favorite rides of all time and honestly I would take them over many coasters, why couldn't this be like that? I got off this thinking, "Wait, that's it? That's the best they could do with this incredible technology?" Overall amazing park where all my expectations minus Antarctica were blown away. Totally worth the visit, especially if you pair it with BGT. Manta and Mako jumped into my top 10 coasters currently, but I will have to see if that remains true after my trip to Busch Gardens on Tuesday.

My favorite Arrow coaster of all time, Tennessee Tornado. Didn't understand the hype for this thing but the drop through the mountain in the back seat is insanity. Throw in it rides smoother than some B&M's, and the weird things it does in the vertical loop are actually really fun. Easily top 15 coaster. -
Ok, so I hate to ask this but I'm currently in Tampa and will be visiting BGT Tuesday, however, I am undecided on whether to head to SeaWorld tomorrow or Monday. I and my family would prefer to go tomorrow to break up the park days and enjoy our time at the resort but is there a significant attendance decrease from Sunday to Monday? How long are the lines usually on Sundays this month compared to Mondays?

You've never been to Six Flags St. Louis, or Magic Springs have you?? I've been to St. Louis 5 times in the past year and I like the park a decent amount, have had pretty good to really good days every time. Although the lineup is limited, it has 3 great wooden coasters and Mr. Freeze as well as a decent selection of flats.

I've had "bad days" at amusement parks but I definitely don't hate or dislike a park enough to have a least favorite one. I had a crappy day at Great America where I forgot to check it was a Bring A Friend Day and it resulted in 2-3 hour lines after a 3.5 hour drive. But I can't complain as it's one of my favorite parks when it's dead, Raging Bull is so much fun to re-ride 10 times without leaving the station, and riding my favorite wooden coaster 7 times in 30 minutes is also great. I had an underwhelming trip to Dollywood, but that's as I was getting sick, Lightning Rod, the reason I came was down, and my friend was more interested in playing Pokemon Go, this has very little to do with the park, as I liked all the coasters there and loved Thunderhead and especially TT. My favorite would probably Cedar Point for obvious reasons.

False, that was just a fan illustration, never was planned to be like that. -
B&M Restraints: Old vs. New
CoasterDirected replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I feel they are fine on Wing Coasters and amazing on Valravn, but I really don't like them on Banshee, that ride has way to many sustained forces and it clamps super hard on my hip bones. -
No, but given it's location I think Batman being open is a guarantee. Get ready to fly. What other coasters could be open? Pandemonium probably, the mine train? American Thunder? Obviously Justice League. Boss and Eagle are obviously going to be down. I don't really care how few rides are open, as long as I have a freaking sick a$$ B&M 4 hours away to ride to make the off season a lot shorter.

I think both look phenomenal but I think the Intamin looks a tad bit better, especially the first half and I just think the dive loop-like element looks way cooler. Also, Intamin has a better track record, I know Vekoma has improved drastically, but with Intamin, you KNOW you are getting a great ride. -

I am really really excited on what's going on with Mean Streak. One thing I hope will be in the ride is my favorite inversion, the beautiful zero-g stall, maybe even longer than Goliath's but honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they added a never before seen element that completely blows me away. -

Blue Streak, Cedar Point. Why has it tended to be that I usually end trips with a wooden coaster? -
What is your next park?

Taking my best friend on her first trip to Cedar Point, super excited and can't wait to see her reaction after Dragster and Millie. In 3 weeks heading to Florida for BGT and SWO, can't wait for Mako, Kumba, Montu, and Manta! -

Tell that to Skyhawk But in all seriousness, of course it's not going to be a "Hawk" name, but I still wouldn't throw out a mythical creature. -
