  1. Hopefully it wasn't a Chicago Sunroof! (A little Better Call Saul reference there!) This is exciting news for GAdv! Assuming the park opens again this year, I'll be there, as I have relatives in the area, and I'll be sure to check this out for the first time!
  2. SO much facepalm... I'm looking forward to Holiwood Nights come August, assuming they stick with having it then as they've suggested. I think by then, a lot of these initial measures will have eased up a little, and it should be a very fun event! I trust HW's management, so far as they actually care about their guests, and am sure whatever is done will be done with that in mind.
  3. My biggest concern about the Reservation system, is how they'll handle groups of people who don't all have the same pass level. My kids and I all have Memberships, but my kids are a tier below me. If I get priority, and they don't, and can't come, obviously I'm not going to come either. It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out, that's for sure...
  4. I hate hand stamps, but I'd still take that system every day and twice on Sundays over the premium pay fast lane system. Regarding the Mine Ride/Log Flume idea, I have a funny anecdote. I actually have an old souvenir park map, I believe it's the one from 1983, where the Mine Ride looks like it's a Log Flume on the Map. Just thought that was a funny error on the map. It did give me the interesting thought, however, of what Mine Ride might be like if it was converted to a Log Flume. Probably wouldn't work without some sort of booster system, but again, it was interesting to think about.
  5. 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Millennium Force 4) GateKeeper 5) Valravn 6) Blue Streak 7) Raptor 8) Top Thrill Dragster 9) Wicked Twister 10) Magnum XL200 11) Rougarou 12) Gemini 13) Pipe Scream (since CP counts it!) 14) Iron Dragon 15) Cedar Creek Mine Ride 16) Woodstock's Express 17) Corkscrew 18) Wilderness Run
  6. I'm one of those who rode Drachen Fire before the reprofiling, and while it was rough, I didn't mind it too much, and rode on it a second time directly after the first. I certainly don't think it was as bad as many rough coasters that still exist today, but oh well...
  7. Well, this thread is just as big of a dumpster fire as I expected it would be!
  8. I picked a very bad year to get me and my kids CF and SF passes, set aside a bunch of money for coaster trips, pre-purchase tickets for multiple enthusiast events for us, and basically decide to go all-out, all year, for coaster riding with my kiddos! Oh well... At some point, hopefully, we'll be able to do something, and go somewhere, and that will be our next park! Right now, I feel like either Holiday World for HWN, or KI whenever they reschedule Coasterstock for, will likely be my next park, but I guess we will see!
  9. Jerms? What's my nickname for my younger brother have to do with this?
  10. My kind of guy! My list... 1. Kraken 2. Superman: Krypton Coaster ... 3. Dominator 4. Bizarro ... 5. Rougarou ... 6. Scream
  11. FWIW, I have tickets to Coasterstock with my kids, so I messaged them specifically about this, and they said "At this time we do not have additional information about the Coasterstock dates. If specific events change or move dates the information will be posted on our website." So, my takeaway from this is that it is still on at the moment, and while there's a decent possibility that changes (my personal guess), it'll simply move dates, rather than be cancelled. That is my read of that response at least. Again, FWIW...
  12. I'm 100% with you on this Prozach! I too am actually very impressed by how many people have come together, all around the States at least, and are sacrificing their own comfort for the better good. The media, at least the major networks and papers, are doing their best to focus on the negative, and drive a message of fear and doom, instead of hope and resiliency, and that's unfortunate. This is a tragedy, and there's a lot of negative, serious issues still in play. But focusing only on those, and not acknowledging the good things that are happening, and the very valid reasons for optimism amid all of the bad news, is a bad look for the media, and those online that I've seen perpetuating it. Hopefully when all is said and done, this can be a unifying event in human history, and one that shows the good in people coming through, instead of the opposite. I've seen a lot of that, and I think highlighting that, instead of the foolish minority who are selfishly acting like nothing's wrong, and also focusing on our victories in this fight against the virus, rather than dwelling on the negative, and imagining doomsday scenarios, is the best way forward from here. That's my take at least.
  13. After years of Green Lantern (SFMM) holding this dubious "honor" among operating coasters, and Great American Scream Machine owning it forever among now-defunct coasters, last Fall brought a new "Champion" for this distinction. Wilde Beast at Canada's Wonderland! Never in my life have I endured such a nightmarish, "I want to get off this right now!" experience on a roller coaster! It was beyond awful, and I was counting down the seconds until it was over and I could get off, hoping I'd survive. Now, maybe part of my awful experience was where I was sitting (not in the front, and potentially over a wheel seat), and maybe part of it was my older age, and all the aches and pains that come with that. But none of my three kids (aged 11-15) who rode it with me liked it either, and in fact, they all thought it was one of the worst coasters they'd ever ridden as well. So yeah, the sooner RMC can have at that disaster, the better!
  14. 2020 Update (Counting all coasters officially over 200 feet, and under 300 feet) 1. Steel Vengeance 2. Phantom's Revenge 3. Behemoth 4. Mako 5. Diamondback 6. Yukon Striker 7. Nitro 8. Skyrush 9. Apollo's Chariot 10. Raging Bull 11. Mamba 12. Magnum 13. Wild Thing 14. Intimidator 15. Goliath (SFMM)
  15. I'm with you on not seeing what most people do when it comes to Afterburn. I certainly don't hate it, and think it's one of the best coasters in the park. Heck, I have it rated higher among Inverts I've ridden than you. But I still find it a lot less great than most enthusiasts seem to. As for the biggest coaster I "hate" that tons of people love, it has to be I-305, even though I wouldn't say I "hate" it. I just didn't care much for it, and found it uncomfortable, and uninteresting, as did my kids. I'll give it another try next time I go to KD, but as it stands, even with Volcano gone, I'm not sure it's in my Top 3 coasters at the park. I also find Magnum to be WAY less amazing than many enthusiasts. I appreciate its role in coaster history, and I still get some fun rides on it here and there. But it's one of my least favorite Hyper coasters at this point, and is barely a Top 10 coaster at CP for me. Unless there are a bunch of people out there who love Green Lantern (now Le Vipre) or Wilde Beast, I don't there are any coasters I actually hate that are widely loved.
  16. I am loving how quickly they're getting this thing together! I had thought it a bit of a pipe dream that this might be open by April, when I would be able to ride it the first weekend of the month. But more and more it's looking like that's not an unreasonable thought! I love this park, and I'm loving how amazing Iron Gwazi looks! Can't wait to get on it, hopefully in less than a month!
  17. I've got a lot of big "plans" with the kiddos, but as far as sure things, we have KI for Coasterstock, after a day at CP, and then two weeks later, Holiwood Nights at HW for two days, followed by a day at KK (which is now an enthusiast day as well.) We're taking a trip South in a month, and SFOG is the most surefire stop, but we'll keep heading south to Tampa if Iron Gwazi is open by then. Otherwise, a trip to BGT may or may not be in the cards this year. We'll have to see. Carowinds will also potentially be a part of that trip. I also plan to take my youngest kid, who doesn't make all of the other trips with me, to MIA to check out their new kids area. Other parks that are virtual certainties are: -SFGAm -SFGAdv -Kennywood Parks that I am planning on hitting, but may not make the cut: -Hersheypark -BGW -KD -American Dream There may be other parks that pop up as well, but we'll see. This is already a pretty aggressive list, considering I'm paying for 4 with all of these trips. We all have passes for CF and SF, so that helps, but hotels and gas certainly add up!
  18. I'm guessing there is almost no chance Pantheon is open by April, correct? I'm trying to decide where to take my kids for Spring Break, and thought about coming here, but only if it's open by then. I'm actually hoping Iron Gwazi is open by then, as I might go down there. But if neither is, SFOG, and Carowinds works just fine!
  19. ^This was my first thought as well. Their single day prices are absurdly high, especially compared with how cheap their passes are. It makes getting a pass the absolute way to go if you plan to go to a SF park, and then, they're practically giving away the gate, if people use them more than once.
  20. I haven't ridden Steel Hawg, but to answer Robb's question, Cornball Express by a mile! I loved that coaster, and will very fondly remember my out of control rides on it! The only other coaster I've ever ridden that felt as "dangerous" with the airtime, and therefore thrilling in that way, was another now-defunct coaster, Big Dipper at Geagua Lake. RIP Cornball and IB... You will be sorely missed...
  21. I really feel like on a national scale, this coaster is being overlooked, as they talk about their most anticipated 2020 coasters. I rarely see it cracking people's Top 3, and for me, it's solidly #2 behind Iron Gwazi (and barely ahead of Pantheon!) I am super excited to get on my first Raptor, and one of this size, and at this great park to boot! Obviously, the only question is when, but with family in the area, I am flexible, and can wait out its eventual opening. How about others here? Is anybody else really excited about JD still? Or is this just not as high on people's list for various reasons?
  22. Exactly. It's like I've said before, and I'll say again: If you're posting on TPR, or any coaster enthusiast website, you're a "coaster nerd". This is not something the GP do with their free time!
  23. Definitely sad news, as I loved this park when I went there back in 2007, and was excited about taking my kids for their first time this year. I guess procrastination is going to cost me (and even moreso them) on this one... Such a shame for the park workers, and the local faithful. Cornball was a top 5 wooden coaster for me, and will be sorely missed, if it never operates again. Hopefully it finds a buyer, but at this point, it doesn't sound promising. Rest in Peace, Indiana Beach... You WILL be missed!
  24. I didn't end up making it out to SFOG with my kids last Fall, as I had planned, so I'm thinking of heading down there during the week of Spring Break this year. Does anybody have any experience with Spring Break crowds there, and if so, what are they like during the week, typically? Thanks in advance for the assistance!
