1. Credit where it's due, it does look like an awesome ride. I'm just a bit of a nerd when it comes to NL2. Sorry for rabble raising, it wasn't the intention.
2. I don't want to poo-poo on the park or the person that made the sim, but I agree completely. Lots of rookie mistakes!
3. And here it is at Dorney in 2015! All those yellow backed buttons were replaced with the Allan Bradley touch screen. It's really cool to see Version 1 of the panel though.
4. Shockwave at Kings Dominion. Got on it roughly a month before it closed. On the other side of things, a credit I just missed, Thunder Road at Carowinds. Missed by literally 3 days!
5. Looks like someone didn't need coffee/tea/caffienated beverages of any sort in the mornings... I still needed coffee to make it up those steps for daily checks, haha.
6. Demon Drop Every day during the 2015 season, at least 6 times per day.
7. Hydra is a boatload of fun when you're behind the panel. Same with Thunderhawk. I also really enjoyed solo operating the Musik Express, nothing like jogging up and down a 45 degree incline to manually latch 20 restraints. Those were always very fast hours, because there was very little downtime.
8. But seriously, thanks for the laughs. This thread is a shitposting riot and I love it.
9. I feel that both have their place. Launches work on launched coasters, because they were designed to incorporate it. Same with lift hills.
10. I got it easy. Dorney: 10 minutes Hershey: 1 hour Six Flags Great Adventure/Knoebels (tie): 1 hour 15 minutes Dutch Wonderland is in there somewhere in the 45 minute range, but that park doesn't really have anything there for me so I haven't been yet. Might head out next season with the new family coaster.
11. I think you mean Pretzel Loop: The Ride. I'm still going with a tie between Hurler and Shockwave at KD. Out of the 75 coasters I've been on, those are the only two that I felt were actively trying to kill and/or maim me.
12. As much as it pains me to admit it, Dorney probably takes the cake for me. What's the theme? Uhhh... concrete? coasters? some trees maybe? The most "themeing" we have is Coasters diner, which is a diner, supposedly themed to... coasters... with old 50's style cars out front... Seems legit.
13. I'm surprised to see Dorney on your list. It's a very nice park, but the lineup really does leave something to be desired. (for me anyway) As for my list, it's a short one. Cedar Point Six Flags Great America (probably heading out that way in 2017) Six Flags Magic Mountain Any park in Europe (more specifically, Alton Towers looks fantastic)
14. I got a pretty crazy idea. Dorney's new bumper cars are actually going to be good, and will take "Best Bumper Cars" from Knoebels. I'm laughing just thinking about it
15. My list is short, but (I feel) decently respectable. 2015: Cedar Creek Flyers (Dorney - Home Park) Impulse (Knoebels) Fury 325 (Carowinds) Laff Trakk (Hershey) 2016: The Joker (Great Adventure) New Thunderhawk (Dorney - If we're counting refurbs)
16. Dorney: Talon Possessed Steel Force Hydra Wild Mouse Woodstock Express Stinger
17. Lol we have staff from Six Flags New England and Six Flags America at the park this week to help us out. (Seriously if you need a job, apply now or next year for 2017!) Was the operator Donovan by any chance? Not sure, couldn't see his name tag. If I didn't live an hour and a half away I probably would apply for a ride op position. I was talking with a New England ride op over at Ka, and he told me he's getting paid 13 an hour (his rate at New England)
18. Had a pretty great day at the park, we mostly just parked our asses on Toro with some other rides thrown in throughout the day. Gotta say, Toro's ops today were pretty slow. But what can you do, shit happens. Had a few run ins with the typical "Rude Six Flags ops" but that could be partially my fault. What I find funny generally isn't what most people consider funny. Had the Toro operator ask me if I wanted to come up and operate, I would have gladly volunteered, but eh, I figured I gave him enough hell throughout our 11 or 12 laps
19. 1. That's awesome that you get the crew hustling like that, congratulations! 2. Interesring note about Intamin's capacity. Even though Millennium runs 3, adding an block (and train) between the final break run and the loading station doesn't increase capacity at all. Millennium Force's max number of cycles per hour is also 36. Thanks! and wow that's interesting. I guess that makes sense with the way the blocks are set up for Millennium Force. But i would assume having that unload station probably makes it easier to hit the 36 cycles. Sometimes we will miss an interval due to people taking forever to exit the station. Plus with the unload station, I would assume it makes loading the trains much faster because there is no delay while loading guests wait for the exiting guests to get off the train. I've always wanted to work Millennium Force, I love the way it is set up. And a quick question, does the computer make you wait to send the next train until the train on the course is at a certain point near the end of the ride? El Toro will not give you a dispatch light until this hill right here. Can you actually send it as soon as you get the light? Hydra gives the light when the train is in the 2nd half of the cobra, but it won't let you dispatch until it hits the corkscrew. Possessed would also give you the light as soon as the restraints were locked, but you couldn't dispatch until it was blinking quickly, as the LIM's have a (If I remember correctly) 1 minute cool down timer between launches.
20. Awesome, I'm coming out with my old manager from my last job tomorrow (The one I was with when we saw you at Power Surge at Knoebels during PPP) She's never ridden Toro or Ka, only been to the park for last years HitP. If we see you, we'll say hi, as always.
21. Best ^^ I also really enjoy the "psh-kerchunk" of first gen Intamin towers right as you fall. Worst: A train slamming into a block brake after an e-stop or automatic ride stop on Morgan hypers. Steel Force in particular screeches so loud you can hear it from Hydra.
22. Having spoken with all of the Flyers ops over the course of the summer, the general consensus is "As long as you're not out of control you can snap them" I see the logic, but I disagree with it to an extent. They just don't want to see anybody get hurt, but if you ask me, if you walk away from Knoebels without some bruises, you're doing it wrong!
23. I've gotten both the speed turned down and banned from the flyers after a cycle. It happens. Just listen to the ops. I've had pretty good results by talking to the dude afterwards asking if that was too much snapping or if that was an OK amount. One dude last year at Phall Phunfest basically said "Just go apeshit" and we sure did. Great time!
24. Glad to hear everyone had just as great of a time as we did. Even the ops on the Flyers were letting people get away with murder, sometimes they'd warn people to "get it under control" but as long as you actually listened, and proved you could still control it, they wouldn't cut the cycle. We actually ran into ElToro_Ryan on Power Surge, nice surprise to see him there. I enjoyed how manageable crowds were, but I think I had a better time last year. Met some really awesome people and got some amazing rides on the Flyers and Skooters.
25. I'm not normally the kind of person to read trip reports, but this is fantastically well written. I honestly look forward to part 2.
