  1. Operations are already slow, how much slower can they get? Since 3-5 minute dispatches are already the norm, with VR I'd be 8-10 minutes wouldn't be out of the question.
  2. So just for the sake of changing the topic here, apparently there's 3 separate colors of track at B&M's steel plant. No park that I know of has announced a new B&M yet. So.... the obvious contender is Dorney 2017. Right?
  3. Anybody there today? I'm heading out around 1 to get there roundabout 2:30ish. How's crowds? Seems like it's a real scorcher out in Jackson today, looks like temps are sitting around 95F. We're hoping for a very quiet day but it's Great Adventure in July so.... yeah....
  4. It also makes sense to me for Hershey to install an Ultra Tower. It seems like Hershey takes the stance of "Huge additions every 2-5 years" instead of "Smaller additions every year" IIRC the last major they got was Skyrush in 2012 (Unless you count Laff Trakk, and considering Mauer spinners are decently cheap, I'm not counting it as a major) so I would assume Hershey has a decent amount of money in the coffers, to cough up for an ultra tower.
  5. Laff Trakk might cause some issues just because of the lack of leg room. I'm 5'10" and 130lb and I have to sit in a pretty particular manner to make the restraint clear on it.
  6. Since we're talking about that kind of neutering now, I got a few. Possessed at Dorney Park, for some reason, the bottom of the restraint tends to rest directly on my manhood, no matter how I sit. Some of the ops staple you. Hrng. The Crypt at KD is another one where the restraint ended up somewhere very, very bad.
  7. I'm not sure you understood the question but I like your take on it regardless.
  8. Compare 97 through 05 at Dorney with Great Adventure. 3 new coasters, and many water park expansions at Dorney, compared to Nitro, Chiller, Ka, Medusa, water park addition, large flat expansion (Even if the "War on Lines" ended up being a failure, at least they tried) The more research I do into this kind of thing the more it feels like CF didn't want Dorney to succeed.
  9. Squandered potential. Steel Force was /huge/ in 1997, then they just... didn't do anything else.
  10. Hand over my heart, hand on a bible, swear to god. The new restraints have rocketed Stormrunner to my top 5 coasters. Any seat, any day, it is now an amazing experience. No headbanging (Neck chopping would be more accurate here, haha) to speak of, loads of insane and unexpected g's, and overall a massively fun experience. Same goes for Fahrenheit. Those corkscrews used to give their best guillotine impersonation with the horse collars it had before. Now there's practically no downside!
  11. Fixed that for you. Everyone knows the flyers are the best ride there
  12. Say what you want about CCF, but I have to say since I live 10 minutes from them, I've ridden them a /lot/ (I /really/ like flyers) and they are fun. You can get a few decent snaps in before the cycle ends your fun (as I've said what, 5, 10 times now?) If you manage to snap CCF you can practically destroy any flyers at any park. Give it a shot, seriously. Your flyers skills will thank you. It's my understanding that the neighboring apartments/old folks home would battle any plans to stick something good (See: loud) back there. I wouldn't expect anything major to be squeezed in there.
  13. I've noticed them sometimes opening other rides early as well, so just keep your eyes open when you get there. Ride ops are supposed to take their chain down and call their ride in as open once they're done finishing daily tests. This can take anywhere between 5 and 45 minutes from you actually arriving at the ride. Most rides should be open 5-15 minutes before official park opening. Whether or not that's actually happening, I can't comment.
  14. It's a 2 way tie between Hurler and Shockwave (When it was still standing) at KD. Both were unbearably rough, but I think Shockwave is going to take it. Shockwave is the only coaster where I thought I was going to die, not because the ride was crazy, but because it was /that/ rough.
  15. If I'm not mistaken it launches at 4.5g, same as KK. Someone could calculate the length of the launch track and the speed you get in X amount of time, but that person is not me
  16. I stopped in for an hour between my two shifts yesterday, no lines, as expected. I currently have a cast on my hand so no B&M's for me though (Seems B&M has a blanket ban on all casts on all their rides, which is no fun) walked on to: Steel Force, car 1, row 2 Demon Drop Stinger Cedar Creek Flyers (Because you can actually get 1 or 2 bounces in before the criminally short cycle ends your fun)
  17. They're just in a tough spot because of the competition. They're pretty much the Six Flags America of Cedar Fair. Better than Great Escape I guess. Do you think it would be considered a stronger park if it wasn't surrounded by quality parks? I would hold Dorney in higher regard if it wasn't surrounded by parks that are "beating" them in the rides department by miles. I still feel the current line up would be lackluster or downright boring depending on what day you ask me, irrespective of the surrounding parks.
  18. I think BGW's quickqueue system is absolutely phenomenal. We went on a dead day, the only coaster with a line longer than 10 minutes was Verbolten, so we dropped 5 bucks each on a single ride pass, skipped the 40 minute queue, waited 5 minutes for the front, and rode there.
  19. I live 10 minutes away and I'd sooner drive out to Hershey, Knoebels, Great Adventure, or even KD instead of going to Dorney. Though I'm pretty burnt out with Dorney at the moment. You can only ride the same 5 mediocre coasters so many times before you get bored.
  20. I don't see Dorney getting another wooden coaster. To avoid problems with Cedar Fair that's all I'm gonna say. the... shmarpentry department is..... too.... too big....
  21. Impulse last season, got on it about 2 months after opening. Unbelievably smooth, and extremely quiet! It honestly felt like we were gliding over the track rather than rolling on wheels. It was spooky quiet as well, you could hear the polyurethane on the wheels sticking slightly and peeling up from the track. Other than that, the coaster made no noise what so ever. even though it's not as smooth as it was opening season, it's still incredibly smooth, albeit with a very slight vibration now. When you get on a coaster opening season, and it feels like a hoverboard. Well... It's only going to get worse from there. Runner up is gotta be Tempesto at BGW. About as smooth as you can get in my opinion.
  22. Pack it up gents, Phoenix got air gates. Shut down the forums, it's all over.
  23. Stopped in at Kings Dominion for a few hours on the way back from BGW, so the obvious answer is I-305.
  24. Positive: Either I-305's first turn or any vekoma boomerang between the loop and the cobra on the return trip (They apparently pull 5.2g on a "normal" day, I'd imagine it's higher when it's hotter!) Negative: Either Skyrush in the back, or El Toro through RT Crossover in the back Lateral: Probably Twister at Knoebels Bonus category: acceleration/deceleration: Acceleration is going to be Kingda Ka, deceleration is probably the time I got into a car accident and hit a pole doing about 50MPH sideways (I wasn't driving)
