Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
blk_mamba replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I went up there a few weeks for the Beyonce concert. We got the boyscouts tickets for like 50 bucks and went used the twilight hours. It was the best experience I had at an amusement park in a while. We did half the park that night. You do pay for parking twice. -

First, I am happy that they are adding something big in 2017 period. I was starting to worry when I visited the park a few weeks ago and could not spot any projects in the works or any potential space. I think a drop tower is the best fit for the space, and bang for its buck. I have never been on the Flying Eagles and I believe it would be a major upgrade to get a Falcon Fury like drop ride. It may be an added bonus theming wise since it is close to ZooAmerica. However where would the queue go? That is tight squeeze! -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
blk_mamba replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Cedar Point press people often note that 'roller coaster's are int he parks DNA' and the number suggest that people visit more when there is a new roller coaster. I doubt they'd go back to back with major roller coaster's however Cedar Fair is not shy about making heavy investments into Cedar Point. I am curious how they justify the expenditures. Justify meaning does a hotel improvement count as improvement for Cedar Point proper. Cedar Point is their corporate flagship but it is third in attendance but I have a feeling that every year the Park is number one in capital improvements (rides, infrastructure, et). I wonder if the Cedar Fair people look at Cedar Point more as a 'resort' and less as an amusement park. -

The Vekoma boomerang looks nice! In 1996 that is a good solid coaster option to give the fans, the capacity sucks though. -

For the sake of argument I believe if they wanted to build a giga coaster they could. *Didn't they buy some big tract of land near the park that can be expanded? *Even if they didnt Hershey Park is not again building roller coasters on top or around or through other rides or coasters. Part of what I enjoy about the park is that unlike many parks where the coaster are all in their own neat little parcels of land at Hershey they seem to almost co-mingle. If they built a giga coaster I'd love to see what B&M would do with the space. I think I've read somewhere that Great Bear was one of their toughest B&M inverts to build. I wonder would they take on the challenge of installing a giga coaster in that park... probably not, but a coaster boy can dream. Like I said I agree with other posters; it is time for a thrill ride and drop tower fits well. -

I agree this is the glaring hole in their line up-- a legit drop tower. I suspect that the park is adverse to a drop tower b/c the Kissing Tower is so iconic. I think if they do build a drop tower it will be greater or less than the the Kissing Tower's 250 ft. On a personal note I normally do not enjoy drop towers but for the sake of not looking weak I normally get on them however Falcon Fury is one of the scariest rides ever invented, lol. -

OMG that looks amazing! I must admit that thing looks like it doesn't lose any speed until the break run. Makes you wonder if they were trying to slow it down and that was the case of the delay. Looks like LR might make Dollywood a destination park. -

Cedar Point is known for its long lines. What I noticed while waiting in lines is that the FP people wait in significantly abbreviated lines but lines none the less which I found odd when compared to other parks line cutting systems. As frustrating as it was waiting in the lines I feel like I would be more upset if I paid the upcharge only to still face the lines. -

I don't remember that scenario however I like what you've done with the place. Lots of roller coasters -

I can't believe there is an #itllneveropen movement. It reminds me of the Never Trump movement. The roller coaster is up and testing yet people still think that the ride won't open. Even Flying Turns opened... eventually, lol. -

I actually like the theme/name of the ride and roller coaster layout, good job. -
I hate that rule they have for Kingda Ka and Zumanjaro! It makes both of the ride wait times longer. It is however such a great efficient use of space. I wish the queue and pathway leading to the ride was set up where you could walk under Kingda Ka and queue in the middle instead of the current set up where you walk to the drop Tower around Kingda Ka....

I wish more of these spinning rotating rides went upside down at least once during their cycle. -
