  1. I'd like to see them make a return. My favorite observation tower is Hershey Park's Kiss Tower. It gives great views and a little spiel about other attractions in the area. However, they seem like a tough attraction to market to make gate in modern times. Also, with advent of Windseekers and Starflyers they seem less relevant.
  2. I am very excited that an RMC is being built with a 2 hour drive from my house! I imagine that the Hurler will be similar to Wicked Cyclone as far as design and elements. It won't break any records, but the ride will be fun. Location wise, it also balances out the park a little more as well.
  3. I think it would be pretty cool, if they turned the brake run into a launch! It probably won't happen, but boy would it be amazing!
  4. That is going to be a nice skyline. Nice pic!
  5. Given all the land they are clearing in a park that so tight for space, one can't help but think they are definitely gearing up for a new coaster addition. I think your list sums up my hopes for the park, but having a hyper or giga would be nice. I just don't know where they would put the thing. My bet is actually on a B&M diver coaster. I know that many are not fan of this type of coaster but 1. the GP seems to still like them, 2. there is not one on the west coast, 3. it could fit in the land cleared 4. CP proved that they can be marketed very well
  6. I think Michigan's Adventure is due for a "new" roller coaster
  7. Tony Clark is always trolling us, I love it. lol
  8. Motiongate is still under construction, but I like what I see so far. Being objective I think the parks is not at Disney level, however it is certainly Universal level (absent the Harry Potter stuff); and it is clear the park is aspiring to be better than America regional parks. That is a good place to start for year one of the park! I feel like by 2019-20 this park and it's sister parks could become a big tourist destination!
  9. Nice pictures. I think this ride will be a sleeper hit. It is not a stat machine, but it will be fun. I still want to know what could be in that shed.
  10. I like that Comcast is re-investing all that Potter money back into the property. All of these improvements and additions are really making The Universal resort a great stand alone option in Orlando. With another Potter franchise on the horizon, a Nintendo license, and other cool IP's Universal is poised to really start to challenge Disney.
  11. Their skyride is pretty epic and scary as hell.
  12. What if Cleveland wins and Six Flags chooses to name rename Cedar Point's new 2016 RMC, lol.
  13. I feel like such noob, but I really don't know the difference between the topper track and the i-box track. I don't know why some people consider a RMC a wooden roller coaster or steel based on the type of tract used. An RMC is an RMC to me. lol. However, I'd like to know the difference though.
  14. I think they have all but said... Coaster boys please forgive us for the Planet Snoopy upgrade for 2017, but still come to the park in 2017 so yo can witness the RMC makeover. lol
  15. I am on #team2017. I'll briefly restate my argument that I had posted on the Cedar Point proper forum. Top Thrill Dragster was announced in January well after construction already begin on the ride. So it is not surprising they are moving full steam head on RMC-Streak w/o sharing any details. I'll add that Cedar Point is building an extension to Breakers Express with an extension to the newly renovated Hotel Breakers coming in 2018. Maybe they are holding off on the RMC announcement to better capitalize on the Christmas season and have the release be timed in a way were people can book their trips once the announcement drops.
  16. Here's my two cents on the 2017/18 RMC'ed Mean Streak... I am on #Team2017. Here is why... In 2003 Cedar Point announced Top Thrill Dragster in January 2003 even though, like Mean Streak, they had already started on the project before the official announcement was made for Dragster. My only reservation is they are already investing soooo much money into the point. However a RMC conversion is on the cheap end, when compared to other roller coasters they have installed recently. A RMC conversion will get more people to visit the park. I just can't imagine CF starting on a ride this early only to keep it closed until 2018. Ironically, I fear that people will still complain about Mean Streak post the RMC conversion, that everyone has called for since RMC converted their first woodie. To all those that are complaining about the 2017/18 debate wait until the announcement when the "This is awesome/I wanted more" debate begins.
  17. Random question when we were crossing the bridge to get to Twister I noticed there are homes in the middle of the park. Are those offices? Do people really live there?
  18. We have seen what Cedar Fair does to wooden roller coasters they are done with them... looks to Carowinds I am excited about what they are doing at the Point. They be smarter than we think. It is clear they are building a RMC at this point. Even if it does not happen in 2017 people will still make the pilgrimage to the Mecca of roller coaters just to see the progress. At least I will.
  19. I am now officially on the Knoebles band wagon I went to the Phoenix Phall Phunfest in part to see the people at CoasterRadio but mainly to see what all the the hype was about with Knoebles. On paper I was never very impressed with the park. Now I see why so many people love the park-- its the little things. 1. Great Operations- My longest wait was Flying Turns and I had no complaints, because the ride ops keep things rolling. On the roller coasters the ride ops were running to quickly check restraints and get people sent out, I felt like I was at Cedar Point at times. My last independent park was Kennywood so maybe my view is skewed. Kennywood could learn a thing or two from Knoebles. As an aside, Ive never seen a park with kid booster seats on roller coaster until until yesterday. I thought it was a wonderful accommodation, and speaks to the park's commitment to families. 2. Great rides- Personally, my favorite roller coaster of the day was Twister. Coming to the park all the hype was built up around Pheonix. While the Phenoix is good, to me, Twister is just better. I tend to like more intense roller coaster so I understand why I may be in the minority. I loved the pre-lift and pre-drop surprises. The head choppers were so well placed, and the ride reminded me of El Toro because it never lets up until the break run. As far as other rides, the Haunted Mansion was my favorite. I knew it was going to be good b/c it was not on the ride all day plan. I am not sure if they enhance the ride for the Halloween season, but there were many times where I truly scared. I won't spoil it, but it was a great ride. 3. Great Atmosphere- It was strange to go to a park, park my car and walk in-- no lines to park or security check points. I was never quite sure when I was in the park or not. It was kinda cool to see people with the dogs walking around the park. My friend is a military vet and appreciated the monuments to military service. Even the guest were nice. I met a women who saw me standing in front of one of the large park maps and she came up to me and just asked if I needed help. Finally I like their nod to traditional GOOD rides, not just traditional rides that are just old. The rain did not dampen my view of this park at all. I for sure will be back!
  20. This ride looks amazing. I know it is a Mack rides product, but it reminds me of Maverick at Cedar Point. I love the creative use of space. That first drop under The Big One, and all the near miss moments are going to make this ride even more exciting, and may explain the long construction timeline. As an aside BPB will have 11 roller coaster (unless they take something out) squeezed into 42 acres. That has to be some record! lol
  21. I think Phantom's Revenge and Kenny are a unique example given: (1) People's love for the ride (2) its unique lay out, and (3) Kennywood lack of space. The Hulk was not changed at all, they literally just rebuild the same ride. One ride that would really benefit from a 'Phantom's Revenge' style make over is the Anaconda at King's Dominion. I'd love to see that retrofitted with some new trains, and a new layout that includes the already existing tunnel. However I also think I'd enjoy a B&M Flyers in that space more. I do like the trend of plus-ing some rides on off years, however In most instances, it is cheaper, and often times more desirable to just build a new ride.
  22. I will be at Kings Dominion tomorrow. Knobels and Dorney Park in the coming weeks.
  23. This park, Heart Stone, is really making me wish I had a computer powerful enough to handle this game. This looks amazing.
  24. Phantom's Revenge at night right before Kennywood closed. There was no line so we ran back around to squeeze in one more ride! The ride runs so much faster at night.
  25. Interestingly enough, I was there yesterday as well. I also thought the ride operations were noticeable poor. I thought I was not being fair b/c my last parks were Cedar Point and Kings Island, two parks that make ride ops a competitive sport. We waited 2 hours for Exterminator, which was a fun ride, and is a wild mouse, but it is not worth a two hour wait. I was so angry when I made it to the front of the line to see they were sending trains with 2 people. There was no one grouping people and they were essentially sending trains half empty. Also their card system with Black Widow made no sense. Often times I'd noticed that instead of grouping people for the next ride, ride op would go back into the control room. The ride would sit empty for at least 2-5 minutes before they loaded another batch of riders. Even Johnny Rockets had a line out the door and they were not living up their name sake at all with only one register open while many works just stood around and watched the line grow. The food was pretty good though. To be fair, Phantom, Thunderbolt, Jack Rabbit and Racer had pretty fast moving lines. Over all I liked the park. ALL of the woodies were surprising comfortable. I was expecting to get beat up, however all their woodies are very re-ridable. Steel Phantom at night is probably worth the cost of admission, but operations were terrible. Maybe the A teams were off or maybe it is b/c it is so late in the season. I am from Baltimore and I made sure I rode everything I wanted to ride b/c I can't imagine wanting to make that 4 hour trip again.
