  1. I agree with youe comment. There are plenty of places they can install new things if they really wanted to add more rides. Moreover that park is infamous for moving their flat rides around the park. Cedar Point will always have space for new rides b/c some rides just get obsolete and old. The park has 72 rides. That means in theory they could swap out rides, retire roller coasters and upgrade things with ease. Just an example, not a prediction. If the park wanted to they could *Get ride of Gemini and add a Dueling eurofighters I know you said predictions, but I have to address the blatant disregard for efficiency here. With regards to removing and replacing capacity, removing a ride that has an insane pph (thousands) and replacing it with a ride or even rides that couldn't top 1000 pph combined... come on... Just to be clear that was not a prediction. I should have proof read a little better but I think even though I said ride instead rid I made it clear that the point I was making is that Cedar Point will never run out of space because they have so many rides that they can just keep closing older attractions and putting in new ones. More to your point Gemini might be a high capacity ride but in 2015 it is not operating at maximum capacity. If CP were to replace the Gemini it would be replacing a roller coaster that is not drawing anyone to the park. In 2014 Gemini had 1.3 million riders which relatively short lines. *http://coaster-nation.com/cedar-point-coaster-ridership-2014-by-the-numbers/ Gerstlauer has a Euro fighter model that can move 1000 people a hour. 1000pph x 12 hours a day x 140 days = 1.6 million a year. If It was a DUELING Euro fighter that would be 3.2 million *http://www.gerstlauer-rides.de/assets/downloads/brochures/Euro-Fighter.pdf I don't think Cedar Point would ever build a ride like that but the point I was making is that they could and many people probably won't miss the Gemini when it leaves. I don't think anyone would shed a tear if CP said they are replacing it with deuling Euro fighters and from the logistics side that would be a people eating machine.

If the park wanted to they could *Take out the drop towers and add a Falcon Fury type tower *Get ride of Gemini and add a Dueling eurofighters * Wilderness run can we swapped out for a Flying Ace Aerial Chase like the one in Carowinds. I'll just say again these are just examples not predictions of ways the park could continue to improve with out ever having to worry about land issues. My personal prediction for the next year is a Trio-tech dark ride themed after pirated trying to take Cedar Points "treasured" roller coasters. I think that with the Justice League rides owning Tri-tech the new attraction will have screens and better live sets.
  3. I would not be mad if they got rid of parts of that challenge park. I would be surprised though b/c it is a separate stream of revenue for the park. If they did get rid of the challenge park it would have to be for something to make more money or to build something that could increase capacity enough to justify getting rid of it. I have NO interest in the challenge park however I could imagine that there are some people that want to take a break from the park and do something different.
  4. This is super cool. Thanks for posting it, are you planning on keeping up with it? Your gif is pretty cool. I've never seen that done for a roller coaster before. I think that it was a very wise market strategy to let the coaster boys watch the ride go up. I was luke warm on the ride but watching it go up is really hyping me up.
  5. On paper this ride did not look that impressive but as I am watching that being built this coaster is massive. That Immelmann loop is larger than 12 of the parks 18 rollercoaster! That is crazy. I am very excited!
  6. This is great. I am surprised they haven't switched to this model already. I never care about the photo anymore in the physical form. I just want something to post on Instagram.
  7. It seems like B&M has been Cedar Fair's go to recently for their big additions. It kinda makes sense considering they hired a disney guy. B&M are the more beautiful coaster and they are capacity monster, another thing disney is known for. I assumed it was just the most cost efficient way to carry the load. Given Cedar Point's complete lack of theming or effects I doubt they break the bank on cool supports for the ride.
  8. "Hey, want a free Cedar Fair Platinum Pass with the Dining Option?! Lets go to Kings Island and make it happen" <--- how I'd like to be asked
  9. If they add a third theater It would be interesting if they would have two separate attractions or experiences with one being mild and one being wild like they did for Mission Space.
  10. If they add a third theater It would be interesting if they would have two separate attractions or experiences with one being mild and one being wild like they did for Mission Space.
  11. I still don't understand the popularity of that ride however you are correct it is definitely going to do wonders for capacity. If I go back after the ride re opens I may re ride it as I would like to see what a difference the new projectors make. I went to Epcot a few years ago and actually waited for the ride b/c it was like a 30 minute wait. First the queue line was pretty interesting. It makes sense they are expanding the ride A. It is a people eater- 87 per theater x 3 means 261 every 5 mins. Increasing capacity means they can have two theaters just dedicated to fast pass. B. Frozen is coming-Epcot will need to have another big ride for families, I imagine will be that ride increase attendance and Soarin will be able to help the park absorb the blow. C. The ride is fun- It actually is a fun ride and they are updating the video package and the tech for the ride. I think once they build the new theater all three theaters will have increased screen resolutions. I thought it was a great ride where you got to see such a great picture with out having to wear 3-d glasses
  12. The parks suffers from a combination of poor management, a lack of true capital investment to generate interest in the park and the perception alot of black people that go to that park which I think creates an extra layer or unfair racial stereotypes about the park and the people that attend the park. To be clear the park is far from the best in the Six Flags chain, I personally think they need a some larger capital investment like a unique new roller coaster however I think the wet park is known as one of the best in the region and is the main driver for the park.
  13. Skyrush has a short but great drop in part because of A. How the lift throws your over the hill and, B. the first banked turn element right after that drop. **Sidenote it still amazes me how they packed a full hyper coaster is n that narrow footprint.
  14. DC is a great roller coaster I hope it is not removed. It is a very forceful B&M Invert. It is taking up alot of real estate though but if it is removed I don't want more screen! I feel like maybe it can be rethemed more to an actutal dragon challenge. 1. They should duel again 2.Maybe a pre-show explaining that this is a dragon holding area 3. Better trains, that look like dragons 4. Some other theming that suggest the coaster area is a dragon pit like a large net or something How can JK not like Dragon challenge but like the silly Hippogriff coaster.... lol
  15. This seems a little cumbersome but I can't say if I wouldn't want to try it. Seems cool. I wonder how capacity will work with getting people on the ride and get the system for the VR thing going.
  16. I am curious is there any precedent for what IOA Is doing with the Hulk? Has there ever been a roller coaster completely scrapped and rebuilt as an exact replica?
  17. Looks like the ride will be a disney like castle with a dark ride like the castle they are building @ Shaghai
  18. First the time lapse videos are awesome, thanks. If you look at the Gatekeeper time lapse construction videos I think it snowed like three times. I know that the some people are down on the drop coaster, I was one of those people on the fence, but as I watch it being built I will say: 1. This coaster is massive! 2. It has me excited about visiting Cedar Point! 3. This will look great in the skyline and on the midway!
  19. I hate to say this because I normally am the parks biggest supporter, or defender, but Six Flags America has pretty crappy operations. So even when you look past the some of the comments about the guest (which seem like coded remarks about the large amount of black people that visit the park) it seems very obvious that that the park is way more invested in the wet part of the park. 1. They normally are running one train two at the most no matter how long lines are 2. The staff almost alway seem unhappy and disinterested 3. Their maintenance of some of their older rides like 'The Wild One" is questionable.
  20. I would have liked to see how Orlando's pole coaster's did before seeing another one confirmed. Even though the NJ one is shorter most of the elements are the same. In some way the NJ coaster undercuts Orlando's before it is even built. The Orlando pole coaster may have the height record but not the highest drop record so as a resident of MD I could go to NJ now and get a experience like the Orlando pole coaster minus 150 feet. I am curious how successful this will be as a stand alone attraction. I'd be more interested in this project if they copied the Orlando model and paired this with more extreme attractions to make this more of a 1/2 to a day long experience. Maybe they will, most likely they won't. I'd ride it if for some reason I am in Atlantic City but I would not go out of my way, I'd rather go to an amusement park.
  21. Fury 325? Baron 1898? Oblivion the Black Hole? Family Invert in China? Parrot Coaster? Shambhala? Yup, those are all on the list of ones I still need to get to, and some of them we'll hit next year. And honestly, I don't really have a "list" as I'm not that dorky. I just know that I haven't been on a lot of newer B&Ms because I no longer feel the need to seek them out. When I get to a part of the world that has one, I'll ride it, but I haven't gone out of my way for a new B&M since maybe SheiKra. I still haven't been on Swarm either! EDIT: I've been on every B&M on pages 2-5 except for Swarm and Lightning. http://rcdb.com/r.htm?order=-8&ot=2&co=6831&page=2 From page 1 I still need to get to (eventually...) Shambhala Parrot Coaster Flug der Dämonen Family Inverted Coaster Fury 325 Oblivion - The Black Hole Baron 1898 Acrobat Harpy To be honest, most of those, while I'm sure they are fun rides, aren't rides I'm going to make a special trip for, but I'll probably get to them eventually. --Robb "There, I am now dorky enough to have a list!" Alvey I am kinda shocked you haven't been on Fury 325 b/c of all its hype and Oblivion, because it is at Alton Towers, even though the ride is kinda weak.
  22. You claim to know the best seat to sit in on every roller coaster at Cedar Point.
  23. I'd love to see Disney work with B&M and build a beautifully theme B&M
  24. I want to the Dark ride mecca, Orlando last year and honestly Spiderman was really good better than I thought it would be. It was the first dark ride that really was thrilling to me the ride felt a little rushed but it was a favorite from me. I left thinking "ok I know why this was rated the best dark rides in the country".
  25. Hershey has a pretty great skyline but the only spot you can really take it all in at is on the Kiss Tower. I love how they have so many coaster mixed and intertwined. If you look on the edge of the picture on the right Stormrunner tries to photobomb the picture.
