Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
blk_mamba replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For me with fast pass at Cedar Points it is either pay for two days or get the fast pass b/c the lines are always intense. -
New for '73 Susquehanna Log Flume is the first major water ride for the park and uses a new innovate technology developed by Arrow, the company that also designed the Indian Trails Mine Train. This cutting edge right uses water flowing through a flume to guide wooden boats through the ride. Susquehanna Log Flume is one of the parks most expensive single investment ever costing over $1,000,000. The highlight of the ride is finale 60 ft. drop under the ride building, and the park guarantees you will get wet! If you are walking over the bridge when a boat is coming down the hill you will get again The new General Store is a place to grab a quick bite to eat before taking on the Susquehanna Log Flume or to buy a towel afterwards. It is also a great place to be entertained by Jessie the Cowgirl! Overall Frontier Village has really grown. What once was a piece of wooded land has been transformed into a true major destination for the Kirkmen Island!

Yeah I think this is about as short as the stick can get. I thought getting a Larson Looper "coasters" was as low as we can could go however I was proven wrong. This year we are getting a splash fortress to replace the one we already had. at least they've been teasing this for a while so it was expected.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

I agree HP does have some intense coasters I think that if they built a drop ride they'd want to make it something for the entire family. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

I think that a drop tower is a big difference maker for the park. I don't like the location is b/c I think it will impact the Kiss Tower however I understand the location b/c a nice drop tower will help with crowd control and getting more people in that area. Another thought is what type of tower? I'd love a Falcon Fury still drop tower but that might be too extreme for Hersehey. GOSH I hope this rumor is true! -
Best first drop on a steel coaster?
blk_mamba replied to CPmillenia94's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The I-305 drop to me is the most intense and best drop I have been on. Some people don't like it b/c they gray out but I like how the ride isn't just a out back coaster even right after the first drop it starts with that huge banked curve into air time hill. -
What's causing the U.S Intamin drought?
blk_mamba replied to fraroc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I haven't even read the other seven pages. Robb thanks for the thorough and robust comments. Looks like Intamin is not in anything close to a drought. It seems like Intamin is: A. Still building plenty of things and B. If there is a dough it is b/c the major players in the US are playing it safe while Intamin is still pushing the envelope with other parks. I feel like the best example of this is Cedar Point. They are building a dive coaster, a tech that is nice and will be a solid ride. It is not very ground breaking the tech is battle tested. Either way. Robb 1. OP 0. -

Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

You think they are going to move Shockwave to VF? Hello no. Nobody wants that. Just saying Valley Fair doesn't have a Togo Standup. Fills a gap, lol. -

For a little while it seems like Valley Fair would get what Cedar Point was getting. So what if VF is getting a dive coaster?! -

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
blk_mamba replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It makes sense that CP didn't add a tunnel but a water break would have been cool especially being so close to water but at usual at CP what they lack in theming they make up in coaster records -

For what it looks like Hershey isn't doing anything for 2016. Not even a new flat ride. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
blk_mamba replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
How many coasters at Cedar Point have extensive theming beyond maybe nice looking trains and a station? I mean, even Millennium Force has a "toaster oven" station, fairly basic trains, and nothing really out on the course and that ride seems to be HUGELY popular with everyone. So what's the problem? Took the words right out of my mouth. Since when is CP about Disney or Busch level theming? This fits the park dynamic perfectly and is clearly going to be a great ride. If you don't think that zero g roll is going to be bananas on the end seat, you're crazy! I mean, dragster is themed, but they took a bunch out in the first year. Maverick is a little themed, but only to a degree and I don't know anyone who cites the water canons or hut building as to why it's worth going on. After that I'm drawing a blank, so if there's themed rides I missed, it shows how memorable they are. Or should we be expecting a 2016 theming overhaul to corkscrew where they hand you a bottle of wine when you get off the ride? Let's not even go down that road on Magnum... Cedar Point has a formula that work and it doesn't involve spending a ton of money on theming. Even though the ideas are hilarious. lol -

Looks like Valravn was the worst kept secret ever!!!! With that being said I like the ride and I am excited to see it join the midway. -

Hell, 80% of the content on that channel is a bunch of nonsense that teenager makes up. If you look at his prediction videos he was spot on for the both Six Flags and Cedar Fair. I think alot of it is his opinion but when he attempting to report the news he is pretty accurate and even handed. -

Dive coaster first drops are pretty epic however Cedar Point has nothing but epic coasters so its hard.I think I'd like to see some sort of dive into a tunnel or under a bridge or some other near miss element to add to the fear factor. If that layout above is accurate, this will be a great addition to the park! -
Kirkmen here again keeping a log of what's new at Kirkmen Island for 1972. The close of the Palisades Amusement Park in New Jersey not only means less competition for Kirkmen Island but we purchased a few rides from the park and spent the off season refurbishing them and giving them fresh looks! Every section of the park is getting something new! The Rotor was removed from the Boardwalk, rethemed and placed in Frontier Village as T.N.T. It seems like the ride is more popular in the new location. In place of the Rotor board walk added the Twister, a former Palisades Park that now will call Kirkmen Island home. The ride spins riders along two different axis at a time and leaves guest disoriented! The second new addition to the park is the Paratrooper, another Palisades Park addition, where guest glide around getting great views of the park while park goers glide in the air. Finally the parks classic wooden coaster White Lightning received some significant maintenance and retracking attention over the offseason. The coaster is also going back to its old original all white color! White Lightning is another refurbished ride but it has been in the park since 1965. The ride is closer to 15 years old. White Lightning's entire midway was has been spruced up in honor of the White Lightening and at night that side of the park is beautiful. In additions to lighting up across the midway there is one new new ride, the Spinning Starfish!
