  1. I wish there was some way or governing body that would say, this is a X roller coaster, or this is not a roller coaster at all. I think about all the RMC hybrids, and I think about rides like Pipescream. In theory If Pipe Scream is not a roller coaster is Superman's Escape at MM and if so why? I think in it would be still be a troll move b/c Pipe Scream is not exactly world class in any sense of the word.
  2. I always wonder how the parks stays in the top 20 nationally b/c the two times I went it was empty and one was on a summer Saturday. Maybe they are really good with crowd control or the park design makes it feel like there are not a lot of people in the park.
  3. With the success of Jurrasic World I think it would not be a sound business decision to get rid of the dinosaurs. I say piggy back off that exposure.
  4. I agree nice report. I have wanted to go but I was afraid it would be too crowded looks like the park was pretty free that day.
  5. I was really hoping that as part of the 40th year celebration/minor repair years that they would get some new trains for Anaconda. I think it is a fun roller coaster and a great lay out around the lake and I remember being terrified of that coaster a child b/c it went under water and my mother did not help when she told me you have to hold your breathe. Like the ones they have on the Carolina Cyclone and Sidewinder.
  6. counting Pipe Scream will be the biggest troll move ever HOWEVER they do still have it listed a roller coaster on their site... smh. Either way pipe scream does not belong on a wall with their impressive coaster line up. They really do not need to pad the stats. lol
  7. This. Intimidator 305 is mostly a 1 or 2 times a day type of ride for the GP if they're brave enough to ride it. I live 3 hours from KD and 3 hours from Carowinds and all everyone ever talks about is 'the coaster at Kings Dominion that makes you lose your vision and is super fast'. It's an experience like many of the park goers have never experienced before and often one that some people think is too much to handle. If there ever was a real life Roller Coaster Tycoon coaster that makes park goers say "Roller Coaster 1 is too intense for me" it would be Intimidator 305. This is very true. I have went with some people that were told explicitly not to get on. I think some people confusing graying out with blacking out. i305 is intense in every sense of the word as far as coasters go.
  8. Kings Dominion's problem is that they have most of the more current types of coaster in some capacity. If the plan is to get ride of the shockwave the space is not very big however there a lot of trees in that area also so maybe that could be used to expand the new coaster footprint. Kings Dominion can be getting anything next season it is so hard to tell with them. If I had my way I'd like to see them install a launched wing rider from B&M or maybe an Intamin combo inspired by Fahrenheit at Hershey Park and Maverick and Cedar Point. The RMC thing seems enticing too but I feel like RMC is basically making wood roller coaster go extinct.
  9. I think there is a noticeable difference between Amusement Parks and Theme parks. They both are very similar but focus on different things. In my opinion the best Amusements Park that I have been to is Cedar Point. I have only been once but it was pretty far up there as far as amusement parks go, it just had a world class feeling to me from the moment I drove onto the peninsula. 1. Roller coasters- While they do not have the coaster count anymore they have so many solid roller coaster. I appreciated that NONE of their roller coaster were clones so every experience was unique. 2. Food options- I thought food wise they have a pretty solid line up. Way more sit down restaurants that I am use to seeing. 3. Effective use of space- To me the park feels similar to the Manhattan in more ways than just topography. They pack so much into that space (World class park, decent water park, hotel, water sports and the challenge park). I only went for 2 days but I could easily see how I could stay for 4 days. To me I left the park feeling that is very obvious that they give special attention to details from the rides, to the food, to everything.
  10. Cedar Point seems to have a lot of weather issues. When I was there everything was running smoothly, there was no down time on anything. Seems like I got lucky! I hope when I go over the summer the same still holds true. I don't want rides to be down! On a side note have they added any picture to the construction wall?
  11. Welp I think that qualifies me as loud and wrong! lol
  12. No they did not. Expect an announcement late August - early September. You won't hear any official word before that unless it's something large then expect minimal teasing. Here is the image from the possible new roller coaster/entrance upgrade Here is youtube video from their official youtube channel also talking about a new coaster in 2016 or 17. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Granted this could all be to throw people off the scent of what they really have planned but this is more concrete than the speculation I've seen so far about them doing anything to the Hurler.
  13. The idea of combining the Hurler and Grizzly seems like a amazing idea, from a coaster fanboy perspective. I never realized how close the two roller coaster are it would not be that difficult. However I still think it is not very likely b/c there is way more buzz about a coaster going in the Shockwave spot or a coaster that will interact with the front of the park, both of which will probably be steel. I do think that Cedar Fair and RMC will do business and I think that Kings Dominion would be a great test park before they RMC, Mean Streak, which should happen and will probably happen one day. Is there basis for this new push for Hurler to get the RMC treatment? Obviously it is rough to ride and could benefit from the treatment but is there anything else? Has someone spotted an RMC truck or talked to someone? Kings Dominion released a video essentially saying what their plans for were for 2016 and I don't think RMC is probable at this point.
  14. I've never heard of this park or this move. The whole park just packed up and moved to another location? That is pretty rare and awesome and weird all at the same time. If the move was to be closer to Denver than it makes sense if they wanted to be closer to a major market and they if they are getting more space that is even better.
  15. The Smiler is running today. It isn't open ofcourse, but it has been testing today with water dummies. Most likely being run by HSE as part of their investigation. Here is a pic from towerstimes. This is awesome. It is a world class coaster, I hope Alton Towers can bounce back from this
  16. Based on what they did at Six Flag New England they can get it done over in about 6 months but that is speculation.
  17. Laff Trakk at Hershey Park, which is better that I expected but still a bonafide family coaster
  18. Superman is relatively smooth, Green Latern might need the Mantis treatment even though it really isn't that bad, lol. Could be worse.... Shockwave, Kings Dominion. lol
  19. I am in the same boat, I thought I had a friend lined up but he in the Army reserves and is unsure he can get those dates off
  20. I have been trying to figure out how to get the RMC trains, and even some RMC elements into RCT3 for months, we have to talk about what I need to install to make that happen!
  21. That is a very interesting park concept! I like that they have jobs that are exciting and jobs that might seem mundane. I wonder if this is a park that would be sustainable in the United States? Those pictures were adorable btw!
  22. ^^^^^^^^^^^Agree^^^^^^^^^^ My ride bucket list is simple. I want to ride a RMC hybrid! I don't care which one at this point but I want to get on something! it seems like the east coast gets no love from RMC!
  23. The tragedy in Alton Towers is truly sad, I feel bad for the injured and their families. I also feel bad for Alton Towers also b/c I know this bad press is tough to deal with and the roller coaster is their newest addition to the park and was a big investment. I feel like alot of Alton Towers rides are not as thrilling as Smiler is. I wonder will the ride ever open and will people ever trust the ride again. I wonder if they will be forced to sell the ride and let it go?
  24. So far this year I've done Six Flags America, Carowinds, Hershey Park and a super brief Kings Dominion Trip. My next will be Dorney Park
  25. I'd be surprised if they got rid of the Corkscrew. It is a great family roller coaster and I agree it looks pretty cool however if they do tear that coaster down there is some space to grow but I doubt they would built into that parking lot. Given all the work done near the Goodtime theater it is safe to say that will be the next location of their major roller coaster, but maybe Corkscrew will be the next to go in a few years. The older the coaster gets the harder it is to get parts and the more expensive it gets to maintain the ride.
