Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Fundamentally a wider base is more stable in most cases to an extent. Seems like a safe wager as to what's going on here. But I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night so who knows -

I believe I read somewhere they just adapted the mine train design. I'd love to talk to the engineer that thought it was a good idea though. This is a case of hindsight being 20/20. -

RMC has already had its fill of lightning named coasters... As far as the name goes, I tossed my quarter in the wishing well for something terrible. Like "Brown Coaster 1" or "The Pride of Sandusky." Basically anything that will cause a select portion of the coaster enthusiast community to lose their minds. Oh, and I hope it has the most basic two dimensional logo ever created, pulled straight from Microsoft Word, using black Times New Roman font, and a rainbow drawn in cheap crayon from Mrs. Smith's third grade class at Sandusky Elementary School, on a coffee stained piece of paper. Damn right I'm an FAA enthusiast! Also, the font needs to be Comic Sans because Comic Sans.... -

Did you read any of the FAA regulations when you registered your drone? Cause I'm thinking you haven't read them based on the questions you have. -

Cleveland's AHL team is the Monsters... Great Lakes Brewing also does an IPA called "Lake Erie Monster". The story is known around the region, although the name Bessie is more commonly used... -

Why are coaster enthusiasts weird?
RaceBoarder replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's not enjoying coasters that is the problem. It's being oblivious to social norms that are accepted among the masses that is the issue. As mentioned, every hobby has them. I see them in my personal interests all the time (Coasters, Sports, Fishing, Snowboarding/Skiing, and Comic Books). Something else to consider is how popular a hobby among the masses and what perceived stereotypes are associated with it. What type of person do you think of when if you were asked to describe a die hard NFL Fan? What about a die hard Comic Book Fan? In our current society, the NFL fan is perceived as common and generally accepted. People that openly dislike football are in the minority. Being a Comic Book fan, although it's come a long ways towards being accepted by the masses, is still not generally accepted. People like to be accepted, so they side with the majority by default. They then shun the minority. -

I'm starting to realize that this hobby isn't that far from being a fan of Comic Books. The stereotype of the "comic book guy" is solidly rooted in truth. 'Coaster Enthusiast" guy carries many of the same tropes. When I first joined TPR in 2014, Robb came off as an entitled ass to me. As I stuck around, I started to realize why he had the views he did. Coming in I didn't know what the people being involved in this hobby were like exactly. Having been around now though, I fully understand it. I've since changed my stance on views of my home park (SFGAm) and constantly have to deal with bitching, like what was posted above, in conversations regarding SFGAm. I fully understand Robb's p.o.v. now. Think of this line from THE DARK KNIGHT: I think we know how Robb is viewed among many out there in the enthusiast world. I guess that's what you get working in a hobby that is full of people who are oblivious to the social norms we abide by as a society. 12 seems very appropriate for the maturity level used by many enthusiasts. They seem to want to take pot shots simply based upon jealousy. I mean, who wouldn't want to be a welcomed guest at parks all across the globe? Robb must be doing something right to have achieved that status among the parks' management.

Six Flags Food

Great America has a GO FRESH with the alternative food options... Surprisingly it's also the place to go if you don't want to wait 45+ minutes for food... -

It's not going anywhere. This rumor is idiotic. 100% agreed that it's not going anywhere. I was just throwing it out there as a hypothetical. The loss of WT would be a loss for the park IMO, no matter how it happened. -

Put me in the camp of enjoying the ride. It's not a ride I'll try and ride 20+ times in a day, but I'll always seek out a ride or three on each visit. I'll encourage friends to try the ride because it's unique. I'd be disappointed if it was to go away.
