Did anyone else notice that in the pic of The Voyage diving into a tunnel, the kid in the center of the shot is flipping you the bird?! Great PTR, these are two parks I really enjoy going to, and unfortunately I didn't make it out to either one this year -
Best first drop on a steel coaster?
Nickstroberg replied to CPmillenia94's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Skyrush in the back row, insane ejector air. MILF in the back row, never feels like its going to end. Maverick, catches you so off guard on your first ride. I305 -

Got my bag o crap today! will post pictures tomorrow after work, I had it mailed to my parents house, so I gotta go pick it up. They told me theres a Geauga Lake keychain in it, which TOTALLY ROCKS, because I have a GL collection, seeing as it was on of my home parks (CP&GL), and I think its a tragedy what happened to it. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
Nickstroberg replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm sure you'll have a good time man, Hershey is probably my second favorite, if not my absolute favorite park ever. Its got a really unique atmosphere, and they have some incredible Intamins. Ride Skyrush in the back row, in the left-most seat. Its seriously my favorite coaster ever, and I'm pretty sure you'll absolutely love it... ...or absolutely hate it haha. Enjoy yourself man. -
Romon World to open in China
Nickstroberg replied to _koppen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Man, I cannot wait for a POV of that Intamin coaster, the interaction with the theming elements seem like it will be phenomenal. -
Favorite Inversion
Nickstroberg replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Yes it truly is phenomenal, the first time I rode it (opening season) it caught me so off guard. I honestly felt like the coaster was trying to throw me off/out. FANTASTIC element there. -

I know a lot of enthusiasts don't rank Talon too high on their lists, but I really find it enjoyable. Yeah, I admit, it isn't super forceful/intense like a BMTR clone, but I thought it was a pretty solid coaster when I rode it. I'd put it right up there with Afterburn and Raptor. The zero-g roll is better than Raptor's IMHO, and I LOVE that big slanted helix directly after the immelman. Not to mention that ground-hugging turn near the wing-over has some really good forces. I thought it was pretty solid. I haven't ridden Hydra since it first opened, but I thought it was pretty good as well. The mojo jojo roll was a pretty cool prelift bit, and the zero-g roll is honestly the ONLY time I feel like I experienced an absolute ZERO-g. It felt like I was stationary, and the vehicle rotated around me. I can't remember which seat I experience this in, as it was a while back. But i thought the layout was interesting/unique, plus the straight drop is a nice bonus, none of that swoopy drop waste-of-airtime bullshit. I can't speak for how it's aged though, but in memory it seemed like a fun little coaster. I'm still SUPER PISSED they did away with Laser though, as it was my first ever experience with going grey on a coaster. Thanks for the PTR, it was really nice seeing how the park has changed/stayed the same since my last visit. Great photos by the way! -
Favorite Inversion
Nickstroberg replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Any good, forceful loop on a Schwarzkopf coaster. Note-worthy ones being Thriller/Texas Tornado BEFORE six flags butchered it, Mindbender at Edmonton Mall, and Laser(defunct) at Dorney; first time I ever went grey on a coaster. Fahrenheit's norwegian loop is awesome as well, the slight swerve on the entry, before diving down into the element, creates a pretty cool sensation. Also, on the exit of the element, I got some crazy-weird airtime while the train rotated and dove towards the ground. My personal favorite though, has to be the combination of zero-g roll into the flying snake dive on Stormrunner. Theres this weird floating feeling through the whole element, followed by the sensation of the train diving away from you, while your body tries to continue rotating and traveling forwards. Love it. Takabisha(?) has this sweet looking element called the "banana roll", and its looks like it would ride pretty smoothly/incredible . Its like you grabbed on to the "head" part of a cobra roll, and bent it upwards. Or maybe like an inverted top-hat, but rather than a vertical entry/exit, its a GREATER than vertical entry/exit. Hope to experience it one day. Any of you guys ride it? My overall favorite element of ALL, isn't an inversion... I LOVE me some stengal dives -
What are your TOP TEN COASTERS
Nickstroberg replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. SKYRUSH 2. El Toro 3. Maverick 4.&5. Intimidator 305/Millennium Force (interchangeable) 6. Stormrunner 7. Xcellerator 8.&9. Great Bear/Afterburn(interchangeable) 10. I know I'm gonna get shit for this, but.... Top Thrill Dragster* in the front seat ONLY *I know its a one trick pony. But the one trick kicks a lot of booty. Man, I didn't realize how hard it is to pick a top 10. Honorable mentions to: Nitro, Ravine Flyer II, Phantom's Revenge, Diamondback, Banshee, Phoenix, The Beast, Magnum, and any of the BMTR clones. Guess I can't pick favorites too well -

Best Drops....
Nickstroberg replied to BiCoastal Kid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Skyrush's first drop in the back row, kicks so much ass. Somehow, I don't understand how, it has two distinct jolts of airtime in one drop. Crazy. Also El Toro's first drop kicks all sorts of booty, along with the hill over (now defunct) Rolling Thunder. I'll probably get a lot of shit for it, but Millennium Force has an incredible first drop. The angle of descent keeps getting steeper and steeper, until it starts to level back out. I think that gives it a really great period of sustained negative G's. Better than most out there, which I think is due to most coasters reaching their steepest angle rather quickly, then staying that angle until it starts to level out. Thats why I wish I305 could just have MF's first drop, as I305 seems to reach its max angle quicker, and remains static. Instead of MF's, where it keeps getting steeper and steeper without reaching a static angle of descent. Honorable mentions go to Jack Rabbit's double-down, Phantom's Revenge's cliff dive, Maverick's first drop, Fahrenheit's first drop in the back row, and the first drop of any Dive Machine. -
Favourite small park
Nickstroberg replied to Scott's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'd say Waldameer, as I've always loved the park, but this summer I had a TERRIBLE time there. Well, most of the day was good fun, but a couple things happened that ruined the day. Will be posting a trip report soon. Two words: sketchy maintenance. Long story short, I will NEVER ride their spinner again. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread
Nickstroberg replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wrong thread, you must be talking about I-305 as most of the comments about the hyper on this website are negative. I'm assuming you meant to post it on this thread: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=54210 __________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I hope Carowinds speeds up construction on F-325 as I'd like to ride this monster on opening day. I don't think we'll see a lift-hill topping by the end of the season, but I'm guessing mid-November. No champ, I was ACTUALLY talking about the B&M Hyper at Carowinds, as in saying, I heard so many bad things about it, that i was pleasantly surprised by a mostly enjoyable ride. Not to mention I also talked about Fury325 in the same post. I thought I typed it out pretty clear, but I apologize for any confusion -

Nickstroberg replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After all the bad I had heard about Intimidator, I was pleasantly surprised by how good the airtime was on it, when I made the trip down this summer. Trip report in progress. When the Fury 325 announcement came out, I was honestly PISSED it was not an Intamin, and said the ride looked lame. But now that some time has passed, and I've come to terms that Skyrush and I305 will have to hold me over for yet another year, I find myself actually looking forward to F325. Kind of excited to see if B&M will push the forces a little further than Leviathan. Even more so, because how surprised I was by Banshee at the Bash this summer. I know F325 won't be my new number 1, but maybe it can be a top ten coaster, and that possibility is nothing to be disappointed about. -
Romon World to open in China
Nickstroberg replied to _koppen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
WOW! Both the coasters look pretty damn sexy, when I saw the concept art for the Intamin, I honestly called bullshit. I thought, NO WAY, are they actually going to theme it that extensively. Guess I'm eating my words. Can't wait for a pov, looks like an incredible little machine. Same goes for the MS launcher, and the new train design on it looks pretty badass. Hope the both ride as good as they look! -
