  1. Legally you cannot ask for documentation of a person's disability. This has become a huge issue especially with service animals. (Though that one is a tad easier to figure out.) Unfortunately that is the world we live in. That being said I don't agree with a policy of the while group skipping the line. Personally I believe that only one or even two people should accompany the person.
  2. Because it is the name of the company. While all three original parks have their original areas, very rarely have I seen them put in a ride that has the same theme/name as the area it is in. Everyone knows that is what Six Flags does, basically Six Flags is just a name at this point. (St. Louis lost the flags last year, and as far as I know only Over Texas has its original flags flying.)
  3. People tend to forget that Gwazi was completely retracked but the park decided to continue to run PTC's for some years after. They finally realized the trains were doing the damage and switched them out. But by that time it was too late as the trains already beat the track up again.
  4. Thinking outside the box here, could it be possible that the helix removal is to prepare the Boss for Millinuem Flyers? Knocking out sections at a time would certainly save money. They still have a couple sections to do so it probably wouldn't be until after 2020. Just thinking outloud...
  5. The train actually did run in the opposite direction for some time. They flipped it around for multiple reasons one of those being the grade between Mine Train and Joker. That is a seriously steep grade, probably around 4%. Granted the grade behind Old Glory to Chicago is steep but only for a couple hundred feet if that.
  6. I am excited to finally share with you what our plans at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park for 2019 are! Highlights: Current gondola will be upgraded to detachable. (Currently a pulse.) ~44 Cabins ~Increase to 1,000 per hour (Current is 400 under ideal conditions.) ~Towers stay, but everything else to be replaced Brand new base building. ~Faster tickets sales ~Gift shop ~Administration offices on second level I have the newspaper article quoted below but if you want some more technical details, go here as well: https://liftblog.com/2018/01/23/glenwood-caverns-gondola-to-go-detachable-in-2019/ https://www.postindependent.com/news/local/caverns-to-improve-tram-increase-capacity/ (Feel free to merge this with Mine Drop topic as well if needed.)
  7. He meant while it was disassembled it would be convenient to move. (I think.) That being said that is probably unlikely though a creative idea per say. In the end who knows what will happen to the pad. They might just leave the space empty for a while or build a new building. (Hey, about about move the entrance to the Boss queue? )
  8. For Sure: Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park (Because I work there. ) Lagoon (Have a co-worker that hasn't been to any park besides Elitch's and wants to ride some different coasters.) Six Flags Over Texas (Usual November trip to renew pass.) Likely Hersheypark (In tandem with Billy Joel concert.) Six Flags Fiesta Texas (With November trip.) Possible Six Flags Great Adventure Six Flags New England West Coast Bash if it happens. We are going to see Billy Joel this Fall (my third time) which will replace my annual May trip. Trying to make it back to Hershey to do the stuff we missed. Planning on a sizeable trip in 2019 hopefully. Probably the same one I did in 2016.
  9. Sorry it took so long, I completely forgot. lol Here they are, not all of them are good so feel free to pick and choose.
  10. This has been actively been advertised by Soaring Eagle. It's three of their rides combined into one tower.
  11. I totally agree with you and the other placements are definitely like that. Sounds like Kings Island really gave us a run for our money near the end as well.
  12. Excited to announce that the Haunted Mine Drop won first place for best new amusement park attraction for 2017! http://www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-new-amusement-park-attraction/ http://www.glenwoodcaverns.com/winning-ride-haunted-mine-drop/?utm_source=Haunted+Mine+Drop+Wins+10Best&utm_campaign=Octoberfest+2017&utm_medium=email
  13. Just FYI not all rides are open this time of year. The only outdoor rides open are the Alpine Coaster and Mine Drop. If you do decide to come up, and you let me know early enough, I can probably get you hooked up.
  14. Does it have a sander for wheel slip? That grade at Old Glory is pretty steep. I remember one time at Fright Fest it repeatedly had to back up and take another shot. Needless to say with a full train it took around five tries. One rumor going a while back was adding another train back on line. That way there is a back up and extra for busy days. The other was switching the direction back to the old counter clockwise circle. But that would also cause issues with the grade between Ninja and Mine Train as the grade is really steep for much longer. Overall the park is lucky to have the railroad. They are expensive to maintain and still fall under regulations. The fact it is steam powered it special to. I'm sure it isn't going anywhere due to the popularity but enjoy it.
  15. The sad part is I don't think he got it.
  16. Wait, did someone just say they liked the grid from RCT3 and hate Planet Coaster for being more free moving? That's a first. In all fairness it actually isn't too hard to build on the grid in Planet Coaster. The paths have a grid option. As well, when you start a building, it is lined up on the invisible grid of the map per say. In fact, buildings are still very much in the grid. The only thing I would like to see with that is the option to rotate walls without starting another building. (I'm talking in 45 degree angles and such.) I'm surprised people have in issue with the building system because it is the same as RCT3 for the most part. (The only thing different is you can adjust grid size as well as more height increments. Should mention default is the same as RCT3.) In the end, many many people wanted off the grid and this game grants that. None the less you can still easily build on the grid if so desired. Heck, I'm re-building my RCT3 park in Planet Coaster and it is still on the grid. Frontier made it clear that they wanted a different game then RCT3. While there are some throwbacks, the intention is to go a completely different path then RCT3.
  17. Usually it is to move a train around using the drive wheels. For example with TTD the transfer track is after the station. So when they take a train out of service they would jog it out of the station onto the transfer track. They could also in theory take a train from the transfer track and jog it back into the station. So in short it is to move trains around. Hopefully that answers your question.
  18. Basically with regular you will double your rides for the day. Basically reserve the one ride then wait in line at another to maximize it. Gold in my opinion is almost worthless as you need to do math constantly to figure out how to maximize it. Platinum is pretty much the way to go especially if you don't plan on coming back to the park for sometime. It's pretty much ride when you want. I used it on a BAFF day at Great America and with the deduction I never waited more then 10 minutes before being let in. Whichever route you go, remember these things. One, never buy in advance, you never know if it will be a rain out or completely dead. (Though again, some like to maximize and still get it.) Two, while you can't reserve multiple rides at once, remember this: As soon as they scan your bot, you can choose another ride. For platinum that usually means going from one ride to the next. Hopefully that helps. (And if you buy in park, there is a small discount with a season pass.
  19. Man, that has been sometime then. There are some big plans for the future so hopefully you can come back.
  20. La Vibora hands down usually gets the longest line in the park due to its popularity and capacity. So if you want to rude it, hang the left from the entrance and do it first. I've personally never have had issues with Texas Giant going down but if that is the case then that would be your next stop and then Titan. Beyond that working a clockwise loop around the park works well. The only exception off the loop is Runaway Mountain. If you haven't done a Windstorm or Hurricane model it is certainly worth your time. My experience with Joker is that it is so far back it doesn't attract much of a crowd. I'm sure people will have more to add as well. With a Flash Pass it should be an easy going day. (Especially if you get Platinum which is the way to go.)
  21. Well, it's probably the thinner air, starving their brains for oxygen. That combined with the low hanging cloud of reefer fumes. But no,seriously, if you think about it Mind Eraser is the greatest coaster ever built if that's all you know. There is a certain crowd out there that hates woodies. I know so many. I knew a guy who said he would never go to Holiday World because 3 of their four coasters are wooden. I told he was missing out but whatever. So if you only like steelies and your choices are between Mind Eraser, Sidewinder, Boomerang and Half Pipe, most people would choose Mind Eraser. They'd be wrong but again, thin air combined with weed. And it because of remarks like that I hate that we legalized it. (Or at least started first, remember Washington also did the same year.) To be honest I see more tourist then locals doing it but that is a topic for another day. (Air has little to nothing to do with it around here unless you are on alcohol, and people are surprised how fast they get drunk. lol) Here is the fact, Elitch Gardens has the monopoly on the market in quite a large area. The next parks of comparable size are Lagoon, WOF, and Adventureland all of which are around 10 hours away. So ya, does it really surprise anyone what the GP's general preference is? Colorado is a huge tourist state so when people from the Front Range (Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, etc) go on vacation, they rarely ever leave the state. (People are surprised when they found out the park I work at exist, even though it is 3 hours away.) Most peoples other park tends to be Disney when we talk about other parks. That fact is that Elitch Gardens is doing fine where it is and how it is doing. Remember, this location is even bigger then the old location. To be honest their additions are usually solid and unique in the area. (Not too hard. ) Shameless plug, come up and check out Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park if you are in the state and don't want to go to Elitch's. Mine Drop is open all Winter.
  22. It's a joke started by coasterbill. So many people here were complaining about it he started calling them coasters just to piss those people off. I personally love it. I don't think there is a time I haven't laughed.
  23. Maybe you should read the above text, the ride is being refurbished for Chance's museum and will still be operating.
  24. Was that really a question? Suspended Coaster all the way.
  25. Lucky for them having 30 people to do lights, we only have like three or five? We do them in the same style as well on the buildings. Since we only have around half a million we start in late August/early September. The trees we tend to keep up year round though we do have to re-do them every couple of years. If you are in Colorado, you should come up and check it out!
