1. Besides a park or two, really seems like Six Flags has done an excellent job of keeping 2019 announcements under wraps. Six Flags rarely replaces a ride with a similar ride type especially within the same pad. If I had to take a guess I would say Shazam moves up to Fling's spot and the SFOT trokia takes its spot since it is themed appropriate for that area. Of course that prediction would make sense so knowing Six Flags I'm probably wrong. I do firmly believe that a Raptor will eventually come to the park but not this year.
2. Amtrak does go the correct way, but like always once a day and at weird times. 8:05 AM departure from Denver, arriving Glenwood Springs 1:43 PM. On the way back, 12:10 PM from Glenwood Springs, arriving 6:38 PM. Still requires an overnight, but at least you have a bit more time. Assuming the train's on time of course. California Zephyr isn't great about that. Even then you'd have to go on a day we are open till 9PM to make it worth it. (And that is if it is on time as you said. We used to ride it all the time to Illinois and to be honest, the delays usually are once you hit BNSF trackage.) In short it is just better to drive up here on a day trip, and cheaper.
3. FYI we are expecting to be absolutely slammed on Labor Day weekend, it and Memorial Day weekend we usually do 2,000+ people each day. (Saturday and Sunday) That isn't much for most parks, but that is insane for us. If you do come, Monday would be the best day. If you do plan on coming one of those days, let me know and I can drop some tricks for you to at least make the visit more pleasant. Back on topic, I haven't been to Elitch's since they were owned by Six Flags if that says anything. But if sounds like you just want to hit up some new parks for a weekend trip so I'll throw in my two cents. As Bill said, the airport is way out of the city, 20 miles to be exact. The train takes around 40 minutes to get to downtown and then around 10-20 to get to Elitch's. Uber's and the like are plentiful in the downtown core (and everywhere else for that matter) so going over there wouldn't be an issue. While the light rail does go to Golden the end is nowhere near the actual downtown core so you'd need another way to get up to the railroad museum. By the way, Bustang only has one departure to Glenwood and back per day as of right now. It leaves there in the morning to Denver and back in the evening. (It's setup for people catching flights, not day trippers.)
4. Finally firming up a weekend East Coast trip next month. (Mainly to see closing night of a Broadway show.) Since the show is Sunday night have decided to make a return visit to Hershey and get that elusive ride on Skyrush. (We were next to ride before they shut it down.) How are crowds on September Saturday's? Specifically I am going the 15th. In ideal land, I would spend opening till around 2-3PM at Hershey then drive up to Knoebels for the evening. (Sue me.) Was just at the park last year in May so did most of the stuff so just really looking to hit a few things that we missed and some ride some favorites. Mainly Skyrush, Storm Runner, Chocolate World (didn't do as well), ZooAmerica possibly, and a couple of others. Park Hours: Hersheypark: 10AM-10PM Knoebels: 12PM-8PM
5. Right? Everyones salivating over this supposed giga coming to BGW and I'm over here like Glenwood Caverns has you covered.
6. If I'm not mistaken most of the smaller dive machines do come to a stop. Most likely since the trains are lighter.
7. Digging deeper we were both correct, originally built as steam and converted to diesel hydraulic. The motor is in the tender. Here's is the topic I found: http://www.rypn.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7438 I get why they did it, much cheaper cost. Concerning the fire, it sure looked like the cab was on fire which wouldn't be surprising since the tender is right behind it. Either way it's the media so there's that. Edit: In reference to TNT, I appreciate that those parks still run steam. As I mentioned it is extremely expensive both in maintenance and training/staffing. I always make a point to try to ride the railroads at both parks. (At St. Louis it is a life saver.)
8. The media is saying that the Train Engine caught on fire. Isn't the Train Engine more or less a dummy vehicle and the thing is actually driven from the tender? The locomotives at the original three Six Flags are all real steam powered locomotives. I believe they are all propane fired.
9. Well sir, someone plays a little too much. I'll be back in November to renew my pass and to break that score.
10. If you look closely you will see another tube with a diamond pattern which now looking at it is probably the out most tube. Joker will probably be down again today so no close pictures unless you got long arms. Very aware of the two skip the line passes with Diamond Elite but I ain't forking out $200 per year when I only visit Six Flags parks less then 5 times a year. Overall yesterday wasn't too terrible, schools didn't leave till 5:30ish but after that everything turned into a station wait. This thing is fun to watch. Glad to see it's a hit and a capacity monster. Say what you will, I think Titan is an absolute blast. While I didn't intend for the focus to be like this... ...dang did it turn out awesome. And finishing the day on Justice League with my second top 1% score. Have to break 300k eventually.
11. Pictures?! (Like, not being an A$$ saying I don't believe you. I'm truly am excited to see it progressing along.) Hard to see but they are working on it today. Person on top in the center. Mych smaller then I thought though maybe the outer tubes aren't on yet. Got to the park an hour ago and picked up our free one time skip the line pass, nice bonus on the season pass that I didn't know about. School groups are leaving but just here for a few rides. Certainly hot out but at least the humidity is fairly low.
12. It would probably be worth it for the electric. Not everywhere is bad but the further back you go the worse it gets. I think Dollywood would be a fair comparison. Alternately we always used the train to get most of the climb out of the way. There is a steep path that leads up to the super loop, drop tower, boomerang, and Eagle.
13. And here people were worried about all their season pass privileges being taken away. I could of sworn I read somewhere May 11th would be a day as well? Anyone that can confirm?
14. I think you meant Big Bad John at Magic Springs Oops! My apologies. I just edited. Thanks so much! Before that it was the other track of River King Mine Train at Six Flags St. Louis.
15. The same place the 3rd lap on Goliath at SFGAmerica is... "not enough space" per Six Flags The new Cyclone looks great. In 1990, the brand new GA Cyclone was one of the best coasters I ever rode. We didn't know how good we had it ... and that those coasters would be short lived (Timberwolf, TX Giant). Eventually they will combine the cut out parts from Rattler, Goliath, and Cyclone and combine them for a coaster at St. Louis.
16. Season passes as well. Looks like that entrance is for Hurricane Harbour only so you don't have to go through the park if you have a pass.
17. i remember seeing that. hilarious. Bwahaha, loved it. I was thinking at the end it would be hilarious if went around again with the doctor, I got my wish.
18. I love the fact they don't even mention RCTW. Much like us, they wished it never happened apparently.
19. I don't think I'm going to congratulate you unless you won it or something. That being said having time to look over everything, I think Six Flags made a pretty good move here. Number one they still kept season passes both regular and gold. (And they even explain why it may be better then a membership.) I do expect during the next season pass renewal round in late August they will heavily promote memberships. Also, they will be making money off memberships year round rather then in blocks like passes. To be honest that Diamond Elite level is a steal. Around the same price as a Cedar Fair platinum with many more benefits. Though Over Texas is my home park, since I only visit maybe twice a year (along with another park or two) I'll stick with my pass for now. But if I visited often, would certainly consider a membership.
20. Was that a serious question? Dorney & Knoebel's hands down. Maybe Hersheypark if you can? (I'm starting to sound like coasterbill )
21. The nice thing about Denver is that all United flights are in the same terminal. (I've made the 42 minute connection multiple times.) The downside is that the terminal is over a 1/2 mile long so if you get parked on the west end and you have a regional jet flight out, it's a long walk over. The airport flows really well even in weather so you should have no issue once you land. So just remember if you have a CRJ200/700, or ERJ170/175 listed as your flight to Sacramento prepare for a longer distance to cover.
22. S&S Arrow is certainly still a thing. (Just under the corporate umbrella of S&S) That division has its own warehouse specifically with Arrow parts and people dedicated to Arrow rides.
23. It actually started around the time of the Texas Giant incident. As far as I was aware they only did it on Titan and Texas Giant. (Is it now on all rides?) Mainly from what I heard it is so there is a witness if something were to happen. What annoys me is that they don't have it posted so basically anyone like you who doesn't know gets on and sits down, locks the bar, and then they tell you. (Since they usually start at the front of the train.) When I went last Fall like I usually do I completely forgot about it on Titan and they shifted the whole car around. lol
24. I'm sure that's the plan but I'm not sure how you expect a definitive answer on this. Media Day will be on Thursday 3/22, although I don't know if TPR members/admins will be allowed to attend as it appears that another group got the primary invitation ( ). Barring major technical issues, I would consider TT also soft-opening on Friday's (3/23) Preview Day confirmed at this point. I think you totally misread that. ACE members are invited to Media Day. It would be foolish if that is who only attended. I'm sure media outlets will be there. (That includes whoever TPR sends if not Robb himself.)
