Are Coaster Enthusiasts too critical?
Superbatboy replied to stricklandCC's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Society as a whole is critical, not limited to the coaster community. I think the current era of instant gratification has taught us to be less appreciative and crave more, more, more. If it's a coaster people want more airtime, if it's a car people want more horsepower, if it's a house people want more square footage etc; -
B&M-Scream, just a terrible ride built over a parking lot Intamin-Flashback, it wouldn't have been so bad without the OTSRs. It was more fun to stand and watch the ride as it's compact layout was aesthetically pleasing as well as the noise it made (later to become known as the B&M roar) GCI-Roar at SFA, it was back in 2001 but I remember it being really boring. The Wild One is a lot better

Really hope it isn't a B&M, all of this speculation would be so anti-climatic. Really hope it's an Intamin mega-lite, but since that isn't "BIG"... -
Best B&M Coaster Type?
Superbatboy replied to I305's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Gatekeeper rough? The only rattle I noticed was at the bottom of the first drop (much like Banshee) after that the ride was smooth as butter. -
Yesterday the side closest to YOLO was going MUCH higher than the left side. The right side was consistently touching the brakes while the left was barely reaching the red part. That's strange! I wonder if they're doing this to prevent the LSMs from overheating.... I think you're right! Last weekend when all the problems were happening it was really hot and I don't think the LSMs could cool down fast enough. This happened all last summer as well, actually to the point where they'd run it from opening to 12:30 and then shut it down until 5 or so. They did that all the time last year. It never went down yesterday while I was there with the empty rows, so I bet that was it. Interesting, but glad they choose to run the train partially empty rather than shutting it down for 4 hours or having one train op. I wonder if building a tunnel over the launch section would help keep the LIMs cool? It would also add a little bit fun-wise to the ride

Very smart marketing by CP if they decide to name a coaster after LeBron, the locals will absolutely eat that up. Cavs fans are very passionate about their team and I recall what a big outrage there was when LeBron left the Cavs for Miami -
Should coaster entrances have weight scales?
Superbatboy replied to adamd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Weight unfortunately isn't a determining factor, even BMI charts can be very errant in determining if someone has a healthy body mass. Everyone has different levels of muscle mass, bone density, leg to torso ratio etc; Parks just really need install more tests seats at entrances and guests shouldn't be offended or upset if they wait 2 hours and can't ride when they knew good and well there was a test seat available and based on their dimensions their ridership would be questionable to begin with. -

Well if attendance is down, then I'll definitely make it a point to get back out there at the end of summer -
I miss all the Intamin Ag 1st Gen Free Falls!
Superbatboy replied to VMan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Funny how these giant 300ft and 400ft modern day drop towers have nothing on an Intamin 1st gen when it comes to that stomach in your throat feeling. -

Banshee-The very front or very back gave the best rides imo Diamondback-The very front, and the gp doesn't realize the outer seats in the first car have the same amazing view as the inner seats thanks to the train design so the line for that row is much shorter but still a first row seat The Beast-Only rode it once and it was way too rough, sat in the middle car first row. -

It's one of the most popular rides at the park, I doubt they would remove it especially considering no one was injured/harmed -

Take a look at the Mitch Hawker poll from 2013: 8. Shambhala 9. Nemesis 13. Leviathan 16. Montu Only 4 in top 20 (two of which are from the 90's when they gave a f*** about g forces) isnt impressive for the 2nd largest and costliest manufacturer in the world. I see why parks build their rides but it's just frustrating how they don't seem to care anything about innovation any longer -

A GCI twister (ala Goldstriker) for CP?? I know everyone wants RMC but they seem a little tied up at the moment (with two rumored huge projects at MM and NE) and GCI did an awesome job with GS, don't see any reason why CF wouldn't go with them again. All speculation though... -

B&M will never cater to enthusiasts unfortunately, they never have other than revolutionizing the invert.
