  1. I went to a community college for a year, and then a state school for a year, then transfered to the school I am at now (really bad grades in High School). Its actually a better way to go financially. Community colleges are dirt cheap and most of the credits transfer just fine. Good luck to you. Rob
  2. A few years ago we had a really really bad ice storm, almost the entire northwest corner of the state (Where I was living at the time) was without power. Well, the night before I was at work when everything started getting pretty bad and I was looking out the window and saw a transformer explode. It was night time mind you, and the flash was quite bright and blue. Then the power went out for about 2 minutes, which meant I had to go do my job (movie film projectionist at the time). That was fun. Went out for pizza the next day because it was the only place in town that had gas ovens and was open... Rob
  3. If only I had a camera. I can see a GIANT tree, that is, well, 3 feet away from the window. So all i see is green...
  4. Sweet, where are you going to school? What are you going to study? My college starts on the 25th, But i am studying abroad until October. So I wont see my friends until then... So i'll be in Cleveland from August 16th through October 14th. Going to have to hit up Cedar Point... Hopefully Cleveland is better than Everett... But i doubt it..
  5. Go Yankees!!! (As in the New England Folks). Oh, and the way I put it (I'm from West Hartford), half of CT goes to the Yankees, the other half goes to the Red Sox, and everyone else goes to Mets. So, thats like 107% or something like that.... You know, seeing pictures of your work makes me want to show you pictures of my work. Unfortunatly, I would probably get thrown in jail if I did that. Stupid Government Contractors... I dont even work in the military side of things!! Pish posh. Only 3 more days until I can leave this hell hole known as Everett Washington... Rob "Looking forward to getting back east" Doughty
  6. This is a recent article. Looks like Disney may be to blame. http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/local/states/california/northern_california/12315961.htm Funny though, it looks like I am the disney spokesman... Weird!! And my last name isnt all that common either.... SPOOKY!!! Rob "Really is my last name" Doughty
  7. I have noticed that I tend to like rides better when I have ridden them more recently. So rides that I have ridden a while ago generally go down in "ranking." Like Boulder Dash, i havent ridden that in at least 3 years and I dont remember much about it, so when I go ride another ride like Ghost Rider, it tends to "rank" better just because I cant compare the two coasters approprietly. Rob "Timberhawk: Ride of Prey Sucked! Biggest coaster in Washington... HA!" D
  8. Ah, Storm Runner. Great ride. Far better than Xcelerator in my opinion. I am surprised you liked Hydra as much as you did. I thought it was fun, but not a ride to plan a trip around. The first drop was good, and the little bunny hill was ok, as long as you were in the back seat, but I thought the ride was just meh. We did get like 10 rides in on it the day we went (mothers day, the second day it was open to the public and the park was EMPTY! with NO line for ANYTHING except the wild mouse). But I am glad you had a good time. As much as you complain about SFGadv, when I went there this spring, I thought that it was run so much better than SFNE. But maybe thats just because it wasnt my home park and I was happy about riding some new coasters. 8) Rob
  9. Man phishy, you always have a beer in your hands on all your different avatar photos....
  10. So I have been spending the summer up in Everett Washington doing an internship at Boeing. Well, a few weeks ago I tried to organize a trip to Wild Waves and Enchanted Village so I could get the 4 measly credits. Unfortunately, because I don’t have a car I have to rely on other people to get me around. My roommate said he would drive and I got confirmation from several other interns. Well, I woke up on the Saturday we were supposed to go and my roommate decided he didn’t want to go so I had to cancel on a bunch of people which was disappointing. Anyway, this past Saturday a bunch of the Interns that I work with decided to go hiking on Mount St Helens, which I must say was absolutely amazing. Well on the way home, the guy who was driving some how mentioned the amusement park and said “he wanted to go… as long as he didn’t get ditched again.” I didn’t realize that he was one of the people that I had confirmed that wanted to go the first time, so I said, “Oh yeah, that was me! What are you doing tomorrow?” he said nothing, so we decided to head down there on Sunday. So we got to the park and the parking lot was absolutely full. I was surprised to find that parking was only 7 bucks apposed to all the other six flags parks. And of course it was crowded with tons to pre-teens. We parked our car, and headed for the gate. The driver, who from this point forward will be referred to as “John” because quite frankly, that’s his name, had to buy his ticket at the gate so I waited for him. The guy that was supposed to be checking bags for whatever it is they check for wasn’t even looking inside the bags, and a couple of times he just let people go through. Way to do your job dude! So we go through the gate and we decided to head up to the back of the park towards the wooden coaster Timberhawk. On our way we decided to ride the pirate ship, which was fun as usual. Despite the number of people at the park, most of them were at the water park which left the lines for most of the rides extremely short. So, we got on the front seat and the last seat of Timberhawk, which was my first S&S Power coaster. It was an Ok coaster, nothing to write home about, but I can definitely see being about as rough as SFNE Cyclone in about 10 years. After Timberhawk, we walked down the hill and hit up the Wild Mouse, which was pathetic. There was one part of the ride where the hairpin turn was interrupted by about 6 feet of straight track which hurt quite a bit. Of course, in all of Six Flags’ style, they were running 3 cars, of which one of the cars had only two seats because the restraints were busted. So, pleasantly disappointed, we headed to the powered Kiddie Coaster. That ride was the first time that I have head a ride operator say “Please keep your arms and legs inside the car at all times, unless you want to hold your hands up high!” Well, we went around about 8 times before the ride op decided to let us off. I wanted to turn left so bad after I got off that thing… Next up, we did the dry slide, which is one of those things you find at a carnival where you sit on a potato sack and slide down the wee wee hills. Then, we walked back up the hill and hit up the bumper cars which were ok. Finally, we headed down the hill and did the Wild Thing, the Arrow Loop and Corkscrew. Now, I am not sure if its common practice to let the riders to go through the course twice in a row, but that’s what they were doing. As a result, the line was about 40 minutes long. Not to mention that the brake run is only long enough to run one train. Finally, we decided to get wet so we jumped in the wave pool, then hit up the lazy river for about 30 minutes before we realized that we lost our locker key. Luckily someone had returned it and did not bother to find our locker and jack our stuff. After we were relieved to hear that, we headed back to Timberhawk and called it a day. On our drive home, we drove past a pick up truck that was completely burned out. The fire trucks were there and everything. It was pretty amazing and I hope no one was inside it when it caught fire. It literally looked like the cars engine or fuel tank or something exploded. There wasn’t much left of the car. Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures to share with you all because I am cheap and haven’t bought a digital camera yet… Rob "Nothing to put here" D
  11. Wow, some people need to calm down. This place (TPR) is cool because the people are respectful. And thats why I keep coming back here. So, lets keep that up and not get P.O.d at people that have different opinions than you. And if you cant live with someone who has a different opinion about a roller coaster, than I pitty you and the difficulties you will have in life... Just respect people for who they are and the opinions they have. (Was that too harsh?) Rob "Mellow, and patient" D
  12. Ha ha ha, I remember that! I think I called you an idiot!! Rob
  13. Yes, I miss it because it had shows on there that werent related to the military. Like civilian air travel and stuff like that. Of course I havent watched the military channel in a while because I dont get it where I am right now. But there is something about the name that just turns me off anyway... Rob
  14. I liked the movie. I wasnt expecting much, which is probably why i liked it quite a bit. As for the ending, thats how it happend in the original movie and in the book. Oh, and tim robbins plays a creapy dude very well... My favorite scene was the train. CREAPY!!!!! I do like how they used Tri Pods like they have in the book. Overall, good movie. Rob
  15. I voted "No" for several reasons. First, and foremost, I am a Pacifist so I beleive that all war is wrong. However, I agree that this is an idealistic viewpoint. Second, I beleive that the US misused our resources by going into Iraq. It has been shown that Saddam was not linked to 9/11 at all. So what did the US do? We invade it unprovoked when we should have been spending that money trying to get the guy who was responsible for 9/11. Now Im not saying that Saddam was a good guy and should be in power, but I dont think that we should have spent our resources on the invasion. It was not the right time for our forces to remove him from power IMHO. But now that we are there, I agree that we just cant leave. The country is not stable enough to be left on their own. Yes, that is OUR fault, and that is why we need to fix it. If we do to Iraq what we did to Afghanistan in the 80s then we will be responsible (again) for being partially responsible for creating another terrorist nation. (For those of you not familiar with Afghanistan in the 80s, we basically sold weapons and gave advisors to the afghan warlords to help fight the Soviets. When the Soviets were beaten, the US pulled out and left the War Lords to fight it out on their own resulting in civil war. The result? The Taliban regime ended up on top. And you all know about the Taliban.) Ok, those are my political view points.
  16. Mmmmm.... polytetrafluoroethylene.......
  17. My 50th coaster was a Boomerang. So every 25th coaster I ride is going to be either a boomerang, or an SLC. As for Arrows, I like arrows also. GASM at SFGadv was a lot of fun. The people I went on with complained about the roughness, but I thought the roughness made it good. They wouldnt let me ride again... Booo!!!
  18. Oh man, for a cat lover this just goes to show that cats are by far better than dogs. Nuff Said. Actually, i had seen that picture before whoever photoshoped it last year. It was a cute pic. Also, there is a picture floating around somewhere that has a cat with a sniper rifle. Despite the fact that I am a pacifist, you cant go wrong with a sniper kittie! ! As long as its just a joke. Holla! Rob
  19. Wow, I saw that and thought mathematical derivatives. Hmmm. Differentiation. Its been a long time... Rob Even if the article was bad, I still liked it. It made me want to go on a coaster.
  20. Uh, WTF? I have no idea what you are talking about!!! Crack kills...
  21. Well, I have been stuck up here in the Seattle area since mid may. And I am going through Coaster withdrawl... See, I dont have a car, and my roommate doesnt want to go to the amusement park unless its beautiful outside and like 80 degrees. So, during my ventures to Long Beach on the 4th of july weekend to visit my momma, I am going to meet up with a bud from school to go to Knotts. Woot! Hopefully i can make Accelerator my 50th coaster!! Well, the lines are prolly gonna suck, but its been so long since i have been on a good coaster, I dont really care!!! Cant wait til august through october though, gonna be in Cleveland and get to do all the parks there!!! Woot!!! I am so excited.... Its been so long!!!!! Rob Sorry for the rant...
  22. Hey, I'm trying to get a bunch of the interns I work with to go to Enchanted Village this weekend. Has anyone been there? What did you think? Thanks Rob
  23. Wow, can we say "Heated discussion?" Try not to hurt anyone's feelings! Anyway, let me add to the conversation, IOA isnt that kind of park. Its not a coaster park, its a THEME park!!! That means they THEME things. Get it? Ok, good. It would be great to see another coaster there, but I wouldnt be upset if it never showed up! Robbo!
  24. Wow, schoolbus badonkadonk! Thats classic!!! It is so true!!! Kind of reminds me of a girl from school... Oh Wait!! Rob Oh, and for those of you not familiar with the term badonkadonk, here; http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=badonkadonk&r=d
