  1. This past may was the first time since I was a kid to visit SFGadv. I must say, i was very happy with the park. My impression of it was that they cared about their rides, more than SFNE anyway. As the day went on though, the ride ops did tend to get a little cranky. But can you blame them? Their jobs are quite monotonous and Im suprised they havent gone postal. Anyway, I am just saying that I was happy with SFGadv.
  2. Oh man, you crack me up!!! That is freaking hilarious!!
  3. Windstorm at the Seattle Space Needle. Nice little compact traveling coaster. (May 28th) http://www.rcdb.com/ig335.htm?picture=4 Of course its one of like 6 coasters in Washington state. This is going to be a VERY LONG summer..
  4. Well, my job can be really boring. So I decided to listen to all of my music in alphabetical order from A to Z. I started on friday, worked sat and sun, and now its monday and I am only in the middle of the C's. So what does everyone else do when they are bored at work? Robbo!
  5. 1) Superman Ride of Steel (SFNE) 2) Storm Runner 3) Dueling Dragons 4) Nitro 5) Boulder dash 6) Alpengeist 7) Lightning Racers 8) Hulk 9) Laser (just something about those Schwarzkopf loopers!) 10) Thunderbolt (SFNE) (Nostaligic First Coaster)
  6. Yay!!! no Pop ups!! I hate pop ups and I like how you decided not to have any on this site. I wish more people would do the same. But the chat room looks cool man! Too bad the only computer i have access to is at work, and they dont exactly like people doing other things like that with the computer. Thats why I havent been posting in a while! Rob
  7. Ahh, red bull and coffee. Thanks for the advice, but i dont drink either. So, i made it through the day with lots of soda and chocolate. Hmmm, chocolate.... But it went pretty well. My exams where all during the day, so I was just finishing up a final project. Oh man, it wasnt worth it. We didnt even finish the project until today!!!! Rob
  8. Crazy dude! I will be at dorney on sunday also! Rob "Been up all night doing homework, and im still not done" D
  9. I have been up all night working on a graduation requirment. Im still not done, and its due by 5. Help me!!! Rob
  10. man, Im a projectionist too (or I was, I got an internship so I had to quit, couldnt exactly work full time in WA and part time in CT). But the projectionist job pays pretty well. 9.50 an hour. Bling Bling. Of course, My internship is paying me much better! No details though!
  11. Nope, I just saw an article that says they are going to scrap it so the steel can go towards the "war effort." You know, that thing that we have against terrorists? This thing is gonna be made into another destroyer.
  12. 10 Chest X rays. Thats an approximate number. It could be more or less. Chances are, the amount of radiaition you received is still within the limit. Arms dont have a huge area that can absorb radiation from an xray. Dont worry, Im sure your fine.
  13. I hate this stuff. It scares me the most of anything in the world. As for the plastic issue, it wasnt physically hot, the radiation dose wasnt big enough to melt plastic. The explosion wasnt exactly like a nuclear bomb. It was more like those dirty bombs that people have been talking about with regards to terrorism. In fact, there were workers that built the containment shield (the one thats now falling apart) weeks after the thing blew, sadly, most of those people died due to radiation poisoning. 20,000 workers that worked to seal the reactor received about 250 mili Sieverts in a very short period of time. Keep in mind that the national legal limit to the amount of radiation that you can receive other than from the background radiation is 1 milli sievert per year for the general public and 20 m Sv per year for radiation workers (oddly enough, airline crews are classified as radiation workers, but thats another topic) . The natural background radiation is about 2 mSv per year. Astronauts staying on the International Space Station receive about 56 mSv per year. As for how hot the area is today, you will receive a radiation dose of about 3.5 mili Sieverts per year (that is above the legal limit in the United States for the general Public by .5 mSv per year!). Just a tid bit, 10 chest x-rays is about equal to your yearly legal limit of 1 mSv! I feel like i just wrote a paper for school. here are my sources... http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/radiation_evarm_020716.html http://www.uic.com.au/nip22.htm http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/cfr/part020/ I hope i didnt bore any of you... Rob "that space radiation seminar really paid off!" D
  14. I feel like I have to throw up! At least religions are trying to get with the times. In Waterbury Connecticut, there is a giant cross on the top of a hill. You can see it from the highway. I remember my father telling me that it used to be a themepark called Jesus Land. When the park went under, him and his friend broke in and stole the arm of jesus from an animated statue. Rob "your local neighborhood athiest" D
  15. Ah, the good ol Intamin T Bar restraints are my favorite. Actually, I like just about anything that has a seat belt to it. So, vekoma and arrow loopers i just dont feel safe in. Mostly because there is no redundant restraint. Same thing with the B&M Hypers. I just didnt feel comfortable without a seatbelt. Finally, I really dont like OSR. On any coaster. I prefer the freedom of free hands. But i want a seatbelt at the very least. Rob
  16. Oh, I thought PETA stood for "People Eating Tasty Animals!" Hmmm, Meat!!! Oh, Elissa, my mother just got back from Peru, and I guess Guinea Pigs are quite a delacasy there. My uncle took this picture before my mom chowed down! Rob "It has a piece of onion in its buck teeth!" D
  17. ^^^ I LOVE THAT SONG!!! The sun is a mass of incandescent gas, a giagantic nucelar furnace, WooT!
  18. Ah, the restriants on Superman.... If you went last year, they are the same, with the side bar on the legs. However, they did get rid of the "Go-no go" belts and replaced it with a computerized system which can tell which seat is not ready, as seen in http://zansstuff.com/sfne41605pages/IMG_1380.html If you look closely enough, there are 3 green spots, and the rest is red, that happend right after we got off, some of the restraints got stuck closed. We did notice a flaw with the system, the dispatch guy would tell the ride ops to recheck a car, not a specific seat, so we sat there for about 10 minutes while they figured out that a rider was too large. They would have seen that with the previous side straps. Oh well, hopefully they will get better at it as the season moves on. Rob
  19. Thats what we were wondering. We took the picture because we thought that it was odd that they have them now. I think it makes the park feel very carney like. Its probably something to do with either a federal law, or a state law. All the numbers on all the coasters were all in sequential order (or it seemed without paying much attention), so I assume that its something to do with a new law, or enforcment thereof. Probably state, especially with all the amusement park ride accidents happening in Mass. Rob
  20. Yeah, my bad. Cant wait for typhoon dirt piles.... Rob
  21. Yes, I agree that it was quite a bit of fun. I was a little worried at first, Im not a spinning ride kinda person, but this wasnt bad. It just made me a little dizzy. As for the wait, an hour and a half was WAY TOO LONG!!!! Next time, I probably wont even ride unless its 20 minutes TOPS. It has magnetic breaks too!!!! Cant wait for those pics of the Tornado dirt piles. Rob
  22. Less than 24 hours until i can ride SRoS at SFNE!!!!! My heart is already racing!!!
  23. I would do something like that for charity, or a cool prize like a car, but i deffinatly couldnt do it on my favorite coaster. The reason is because, quite frankly, i wouldnt want to get sick of my favorite coaster. I already know every twist and turn, but i dont want to get sick of it. Cof course, if the prize was, say, 10 million dollars, i think i can handle the threat of losing interest in my fav coaster. hmmmmm 10 million dollars..... Rob "So poor" D
  24. Residents? Are you an RA at a school? Or a super at an apartment building? Im an RA at my school... Pays well also. Anyway, I got pulled over twice, once going up hill around 12:30 am New years day. POS car, with crazy bumber stickers. I swear, those bumper stickers must have saved me from a ticket (Musta made the cop laugh). The second time, I was going too fast, and the cop was going the opposite direction. Yeah, i just saw lights in my mirror, looked for driveway, and gave up before he even got to me... Both times i got a written warning. No tickets, other than the occational parking ticket, of which I was able to talk myself out of one of them (I hunted down the cop who was doing rounds down the road). Rob
  25. Could you change mine to "The chicken is an egg's way of making another egg." Thanks a buncher!
