Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Hilltopper39 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is a sort of out on a limb idea no one has mentioned yet, but this ride is going into frontierland sectino of the park. Last time I checked Mean Streak sucked, and blue streak is an old classic wooden coaster. What if they biult a giant dueling Intamin woodie. World's tallest fastes etc wooden coaster, which is probably possible with the intamin style track. I mean CP has a very good relatonship with intamin over the years and this seems to be the next big thing. There is only 1 style of coaster liek this in America, so record breaking, revolutionary, fitting to the themed area, why not? I've never been on a B&M flyer, but I think I'd still love to see the point get a big new wooden coaster that is going to rock. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Hilltopper39 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think in predicting Cedar Point's future one mu7st consider Cedar Fair's past. When CP biult dragster, Knotts had jsut opened an intamin accelerator a year before. Spinning Dragons and Timberline Twister both popped up in the same year. Now there's recently been a trend with biulding B&M's in the company, Patriot, Hydra, SIlver Bullet etc. I think B&M is definatly in the works for 2007, but what is a question. And didn't B&M have type of 4th dimension design in the works some where ? We'll see. -
Kentucky Rumbler Media Preview...
Hilltopper39 replied to mad_dog_BB's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Derby Weekend in Louisville is crowed but not unbearable. In fact lst year I went to the Oaks (the race on friday before the derby, same day as rumbler media day this year) and afterwards I stopped at KK and hit every credit in the park twice in an hourand a half. So a stop at KK on that day is actually a prety good idea. Churchill Downs is about a mile from KK ( wich is on the KY state fairgrounds) and a lotof people park there and wither walk or take abus to the track. SO it's pretty easily accessable from the interstate and what not. SO all in all Derby weekend is a pretygood time to go to KK ifit works out logistically. Ross, KY coaster expert, kinda, Cassity -
I'd like to know about any type of special training or education it takes to get involved with the coaster business. I'm currently a mechanical engineerign student at Western Kentucky University hoping to one day work in the industry, and if those guys have any advise I'd lvoe to receive it! Thanks

Best GCI Woody
Hilltopper39 replied to I_am_Em0_0's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've been on all of the GCI's except Roar East (been on West) thunder bird, Ozark Wildcat and Rumbler, although I'm gonna get on Rumbler sometime in the next few weeks. I'm gonna be the diffferent one here and say that I think WILDCAT at hershey is the best. Thunderhead rocks in the front seat but the rest of the train sort of lacks. I don't know jsut thikn the wildcat is a great ride, hard o vote against Thunderhead but the Wilddcat gets my vote. -
You're just TOO BIG to ride!!!
Hilltopper39 replied to SlimCoasterRider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can already see the future of Theme Parks: YOU MUST BE OVER 200 POUNDS TO RIDE. Thought I would end on a joke and say this is not meant to hurt anyone’s feeling but the overweight pity party has got to stop. Americans are just bigger dude, some of us a lot bigger. How often do you see a japanese person that's 6'4" 280 pounds? there's isn't pity party for larger guests there are jsut some seats that are too F**in small for some large people to fit in. I think that if foreign manufactures are biulding rides in American they need to make an effort to accomadate Americans. -
You're just TOO BIG to ride!!!
Hilltopper39 replied to SlimCoasterRider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think it has every thing to do with the manufacturer. I am 6'2" about 245 pound (depending on the day of the week), but I'm not fat. I play college football and am in prety good shape, I've got friends who weigh 275-300 pounds but arn't fat by any means, they're jsut big people. It pisses me off when I go to Cedar Point and see a larger person who can't enjoy a ride because of size. Now yes there are some people who are simply too large to safely fit into a seat, but there are also a lot of seats that are too small to accomadate a lot of BIG Americans. Is Sahquile Oneil fat? no, but could he ride a B&M? not quite. Same thing with INtamin's. The Intamin OTSR's on Wicked Twister are un accomadatin for people over like 6'4", and you've got any type of chest on ya at all it aint gonna work. I think foreign manufactures need to take a little consideration for "Larger" people, not necessairly fat people who can't fit into a ride. SOlution 1- make seat that accomodate people with larger chests, and heights over 6"3' Solution 2- let Chuck Norris design roller coasters. -
Your favorite coaster tunnel

I love tunels, they do some much for a ride psychologially, nice thread, but here's a picture of the best one! -
Your favorite coaster tunnel
Hilltopper39 replied to chavslayer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Since no one ahs said it yet I'll go ahead and put it out there.... THE BEAST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't care if you love or hate the ride (I personally love it) but that last tunell around the double helix is awesome, makes theride along with therest of the 3 other tunels. But the helix rocks even with the magnetic trims -
I agree wit hScott, SFOT's has a really good skyline. Kings Island has a good one too with the Eifle tower, Vortex, Drop Zone, and SOB in the view. SOBV may suck but it looks pretty impressive fro mthe road.

http://www.tusenfryd.no/uploads/SpeedMonsterfilm/tusenfryd.wmv Found this video on Tusenfreuyd (sp?) web site. This ride looks pretty amazing to me, would have liked to see a more creative inversion instead of the basic corkscrew, maybe a snake dive, but hey the pretzel looping top hat thingy makes up for it. Looks like it's going to be a great ride! Check it out

Trim Brakes
Hilltopper39 replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, Mean Streak and Mantis both have a 'trim' on the first drop. -
Trim Brakes
Hilltopper39 replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Using trim brakes along the course of the track allows the ride to aoperate more than one train at a time. You have to have a certain number of "blocks" to seperate the trains, and a trim brake creates a new block. Say a ride has 3 trains, there has be somewhere around 4-5 blocks(I think) so taht there is always an open block inbetween each train. So one trian in the station cannot begin the lift until the train on the lift has left the lift, and the train on the lift can't leave the lift till the train ahead of it has cleared the midcoarse block brake. I think this is the case atleast. -

Millenium Force
Hilltopper39 replied to MattJackson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah the first drop kicks ass but after that it's pretty lame. No air, no variation of speed or direction, jsut a bunch of track headin back to the station. Not the worst coaster ever by any means but not nearly the best either. -
HELP WANTED!!!!!!!!!
Hilltopper39 replied to Hilltopper39's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Trip is set, going to be in Orlndo from December 24th hrough the 28th. Staying at a hotel across from Pleasure Islnd can't remember it's name sounded nice. Just gotta pickmy park options. Think I might try a park opper ticket for a few days and try to fit in Magic Kingdom Epcot and MGM. You all think those three parks are doable that time of year in 2 days? -
A new themed ride idea for paramount
Hilltopper39 replied to Hilltopper39's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Prety sure Italian Job is a Premier Ride, but yeah A little Daisy Duke in there would be great. Maybe ride-ops in short shorts hell yeah, Elissa need a job? haha. Hell why not a whole Hazard themed land? Baors Nest Restaurant, Hazard Road Rally go kart ride, A sweet flat ride maybe a Huss Jump or something, I can see it. YEEEE HAAAAW !!!!!!!!!! -
I light of recent success (or lack there of, you decide) of the Italian Job stunt track rides at paramount parks, I can only imagine how f*in cool a Dukes of Hazard Themed Ride would be!!!! Imagine an themed Intamin launched rocket coaster careening thought the back woods at Kings Island in General Lee themed Orange Dodge charger trains!!!! I know everyone in the forums might not be as redneck as me, but hell a lot of people out there are who would absolutely love a ride like this. Maybe a Rita esque layout that sits low to the ground flying through the trees in and out of ditches and maybe jumps over a police car baracaded road. Hell yeah a real THRILLLBILLY screamer.
