  1. I know no one really likes these posts, but I'll be at Great America on either the 18th or 19th this month. Just a few questions... 1) How bad will the lines be for the major coasters? Since some schools might be back in session, I'm guessing lines might not be as bad as I hear, but I'm not sure. 2) Goliath: Does it have a lot of downtime? What's the single rider line situation (I've heard stuff all over the place on that one)? 3) I plan on hitting Goliath and Superman first due to their lower capacity. In what order should I ride everything else? 4) Is Demon worth checking out? I usually like old Arrow loopers, but I hear that this one is a real headbanger. Any input is appreciated.
  2. ^ Well, I read a rumor that they might build new parking spaces in the grassy area east of the current lot and use the some of the old parking land as space for new attractions. Again, that's just a rumor, but it would be a good option if they want to expand the park with removing other attractions. If this rumor ends up happening, and they use that land for a coaster, I could see them doing something Gatekeeper-like and have the coaster travel over the park entrance. It wouldn't have to be a wing coaster. They could easily do it with an invert. Also, a coaster built in that area would have good curb appeal.
  3. A park with all Chinese Knockoff SLCs. What's worse than having a coaster break down when you're next in line?
  4. I'd already heard a little about this, but...
  5. ...Godzilla, who destroyed everything related to PETA, therefore sending it out of business. Following that, all of the Six Flags parks that PETA closed were successfully rebuilt, except for one park, which was...
  6. ...the line is stretching outside of the main queue area, and only one train is running. ...you have a roller coaster named Batman, Superman, or Goliath.
  7. Saw this on a YouTube video about Drachen Fire at BGW...
  8. Just got back from an early showing of Guardians of the Galaxy, and so far, it's my favorite movie of 2014. The acting is great (favorite was Chris Pratt), the battle scenes were awesome, and it was well-written with great dialogue and some funny moments. Marvel really hit a home run with this one. I highly recommend seeing this movie.
  9. Granted, but everyone else in the audience is rude and annoying. I wish movie theaters didn't show so many trailers.
  10. As great as an RMC woodie sounds, I don't think that it will happen since they already have Iron Rattler. Even though iRat is a hybrid coaster, it sounds like the experience on RMC woodies is similar, so I'm betting that it will be some sort of steel coaster. Maybe it will be something from Premier Rides since Six Flags has gone to them a lot in recent years.
  11. ...you look forward to your home park's "New for Next Year" announcement more than Christmas.
  12. Pay for a locker. Would you rather live three hours away from a good home park or live five minutes away from a 'meh' home park.
  13. A picture that Dave Frazier tweeted recently. This stuff looks like it's for what might be the permanent Haunt structure.
  14. Thunderhawk Mack Rides Water Coaster
  15. ...stop all of the crazy Darien Lake discussion. Shortly afterwards, Darien Lake began experiencing financial problems due to an unexpected drop in attendance, and eventually the park unfortunately had to close down permanently. The park's rides were put up for sale. Ride of Steel was purchased by...
  16. ^ Exactly. Just because one article rumors it does not mean that it will happen. Besides, Corkscrew is my fourth favorite coaster at Valleyfair (behind Renegade, WT, and SV), so I'd be a little disappointed if it was removed.
  17. Ride Colossus for 36 hours. Would you rather have your home park get a rough forceful Vekoma or a smooth forceless B&M?
  18. B&M, a new floorless coaster called X-Force. At first, it was considered one of the best floorless coasters in the world, but it eventually developed a bad B&M rattle. Darien Lake then decided to put X-Force up for sale, and it was purchased by...
  19. Cedar Fair, who renamed the park back to Darien Lake. Cedar Fair rebuilt a lot of rides from the old Darien Lake such as Ride of Steel, Predator, and Mind Eraser. Despite the first few years being a bit rocky, Darien Lake became a successful park again. Meanwhile, a new roller coaster was being built at...
  20. As good as a job that NU did in locating and adding new rides when Mr. Frazier was there he never had to put in a 3000+ ft. coaster. If the park does not put the next coaster north of High Roller then they will have to remove or move something to fit it in. The idea of wrapping a coaster around existing rides is great but it adds more cost to the ride and I would just rather see that money spent on the coaster instead of extra supports or re-doing walk ways to accommodate a new coaster. I still think they will remove an existing coaster before they add a new one but we shall see. Agreed. I'd love to see a coaster that interacts with the people on the midways, but if it's going to cost the park more, then I wouldn't expect it to happen. Plus, if it ends up being a B&M invert, they would have to put nets under parts of the ride where loose articles will commonly fall out, and not only would nets cost even more money, but they are an eyesore to look at (anyone that has ridden Manta at SeaWorld Orlando probably knows what I mean). On another note, this new article from Valleyfairzone is another reason why I'm starting to get annoyed with that site: http://valleyfairzone.com/2014/07/27/fanboy-utterly-convinced-cars-land-attraction-coming-in-2015/#comments
  21. I don't think replacing the CEO will immediately solve all of Six Flags' problems, but something seriously needs to be done. Six Flags is becoming the Walmart of the amusement park industry. Bad operations, rude employees, and terrible customer service can happen at any park, but I hear about it the most at the Six Flags park. I agree that some of these parks should have no new additions for a year so they can focus on improving customer service because if a park has an "A-list" coaster lineup but bad customer service, then I'd prefer to visit a park with a "B-list" lineup and good customer service. I'm not hating on Six Flags. I just think some aspects of their parks are in need of improvement.
  22. I believe they own some of the land behind Excalibur and Renegade, but it just goes deeper into the flood plain, and it looks like it would be hard to make a path to. I guess they could build one back there, but I doubt it. A new coaster behind High Roller is probably more likely, especially since a permanent Haunt structure might be going back there.
  23. Fire in the Hole at Silver Dollar City (1972). I rode it when I was a little kid, so I don't remember much about it, but I didn't really like it.
