Where should we eat at these Penn. Parks?
YoshiFan replied to bert425's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
$15 for regular, $25 for preferred. You are allowed to leave and re-enter the lot once with the receipt. -
I have gone to the park the last 3 Thursday's. The park has been more crowded than I expected with lines for the major coasters around 30 - 40 minutes until 3 - 4 when the schools start to leave. The smaller coasters like Skull Mountain and Runaway Mine Train are walk ons or maybe a 5 minute wait at the most.

The best food at Dorney is probably Chickie's and Pete's. Dorney has 2 locations, a full service restaurant near Wild Mouse and a counter service location near the Sea Dragon. -
Flash Pass prices generally don't change from day to day. They sometimes go up in price for Fright Fest though. Regular is $45 per person, Gold is $65 per person and Platinum is $110 per person. Regular waits the same time as the line, Gold is 50% less, Platinum is 90% less and you get to ride twice. Even with Flash Pass if the park is very crowded you could still have a small wait for the rides (10 to 15 minutes) since all coasters merge at the station except Skull Mountain and using Nitro as an example, when it is crowded the Flash Pass line will go out of the station and down the stairs.

Supposedly they switched to the current setup so the switch track wouldn't be used anymore which was causing some problems/downtime for the ride. By only using the 1 loading area they have 4 ride ops checking restraints compared to 2 at each loading area so the train can be checked and dispatched faster.

Amusement Park Question!
YoshiFan replied to Coasterfreak18's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It depends on the park. Usually if they are open on weekdays before daily operations it means a lot of school groups. At Great Adventure going on a Friday in May (not counting next week) usually means low crowds with so many coasters to choose from compared to a park like Dorney is very crowded during the day because there are less major rides and the kids on school trips aren't interested in kiddie rides so crowds aren't spread out like a normal day. -
It's kind of hidden, when you go to the events page: https://www.sixflags.com/greatadventure/special-events It lists the featured events by default. Next to where it says featured is a tab that says Special and Group Events where all the other events like school events and the dance events are listing.

El Toro at Great Adventure a few hours ago -
The park was slightly more crowded than past weekdays so far this year since it was Student Council day but around 3:45 the school groups started to leave and lines got to 10 minutes or less after that. The advice to avoid the C train on Nitro was a good idea. The A and B trains are so much better and I was avoided the C train even if it meant having to wait an extra train. Dispatches were fast on Nitro too with no double stacking.

Are they not allowing any loose articles on Great Nor'Easter? It will be annoying if I can't take my phone and keys with me on the ride. I always wear shorts with a zippered pocket so there is no chance of them falling out. -
Just like last Friday the park was empty, from 3:30 when I got to the park to closing at 8:00 I didn't wait in a line longer than 5 minutes. The signs in the Boardwalk at the Golden Kingdom entrance now say Kingda Ka is closed until late spring. The signs used to say until Memorial Day. Twister has Twix ads on it and The Log Flume opened for the season.

Tracking coasters ridden
YoshiFan replied to alilstronger's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I use Excel, I have 1 spreadsheet for Dorney, 1 for Great Adventure and a 1 for other parks. Dorney and Great Adventure have their own spreadsheets since I keep total ride amounts for those 2 parks because I visit them so frequently. -
What is your next park?

I must have been on the same train since I rode Nitro 4 times in a row and also was on the last train of the night.
