Longest queue line
YoshiFan replied to Sprint390g's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Superman at Great Adventure and Kingda Ka's original queue. I remember hearing the original queue could hold a 7 or 8 hour line. -
I'm hoping to go to the park either next week or the week after. I'm not sure if I am going to ride Zumanjaro or not and am looking forward to Kingda Ka being open. It's been closed all my trips to the park this year since except for the first 2 weekends the park was open, every other time I have been to the park has been a weekday.

Longest SBNO / Shortest Opened Coasters
YoshiFan replied to Heth's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not as short as ring racer, Wild Wonder at Gillian's Wonderland Pier only opened for a few months (probably April or May) before closing in August the same year. http://rcdb.com/600.htm -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

I wouldn't be that upset if Wildcat ever got removed. I haven't tried the coaster in a few years since the last few times I have ridden it, I got a headache from it even with the Millennium Flyer trains. I still don't think it was as bad as Gwazi though. -

I was there last year on July 1st, it was a Monday. I only had 3 1/2 hours and was able to ride all the coasters except Lil' Phantom (even though you don't need a kid to ride) and also rode 6 or 7 non coaster rides. The only coaster with a line was Phantom's Revenge since only 1 train was running. The low crowds might have been an exception to normal though since it was supposed to rain and only rained for about 20 minutes earlier in the day. I was there from 6:00 to 9:30 that day. -
I have been going to the park once a week since opening weekend and haven't waited in a line more than 20 minutes all season. The only time I have seen lines more than 30 minutes this year were earlier in the day the past few weeks when there were a lot of school groups and I skipped the major coasters then and went back to them once the school groups left and lines were much shorter. Once Kingda Ka is open every day and Zumanjaro opens that should help with lines even more. I have only gone on weekdays though (except Sunday of opening weekend and Easter Sunday).

The park was empty tonight. When I got to the park after 4:00 there were a lot of school groups leaving and it looks like lines might have been bad earlier in the day because of that. Even with the rides being walk ons or 5 - 10 minute waits they were still running maximum trains on everything. Even the parachutes had 3 out of 4 sides open with no line.

Where should we eat at these Penn. Parks?
YoshiFan replied to bert425's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
$15 for regular, $25 for preferred. You are allowed to leave and re-enter the lot once with the receipt. -
I have gone to the park the last 3 Thursday's. The park has been more crowded than I expected with lines for the major coasters around 30 - 40 minutes until 3 - 4 when the schools start to leave. The smaller coasters like Skull Mountain and Runaway Mine Train are walk ons or maybe a 5 minute wait at the most.

The best food at Dorney is probably Chickie's and Pete's. Dorney has 2 locations, a full service restaurant near Wild Mouse and a counter service location near the Sea Dragon. -
Flash Pass prices generally don't change from day to day. They sometimes go up in price for Fright Fest though. Regular is $45 per person, Gold is $65 per person and Platinum is $110 per person. Regular waits the same time as the line, Gold is 50% less, Platinum is 90% less and you get to ride twice. Even with Flash Pass if the park is very crowded you could still have a small wait for the rides (10 to 15 minutes) since all coasters merge at the station except Skull Mountain and using Nitro as an example, when it is crowded the Flash Pass line will go out of the station and down the stairs.

Supposedly they switched to the current setup so the switch track wouldn't be used anymore which was causing some problems/downtime for the ride. By only using the 1 loading area they have 4 ride ops checking restraints compared to 2 at each loading area so the train can be checked and dispatched faster.

Amusement Park Question!
YoshiFan replied to Coasterfreak18's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It depends on the park. Usually if they are open on weekdays before daily operations it means a lot of school groups. At Great Adventure going on a Friday in May (not counting next week) usually means low crowds with so many coasters to choose from compared to a park like Dorney is very crowded during the day because there are less major rides and the kids on school trips aren't interested in kiddie rides so crowds aren't spread out like a normal day.
