  1. I went to the park for a couple of hours last night and the rides and Haunt attractions all had short lines. Talon, Hydra and Steel Force all were running 1 train and Steel Force had about a 10 minute wait. I saw a lot of people go up to Blackout thinking it was open to everyone and they were turned away since it is Fright Lane only. Unfortunately, it has been like that for as long as I can remember. It would be nice to see it changed and re-rides allowed but I don't mind it too much since I know I'm not going to be waiting in much of a line for anything when I go to the park.
  2. Hopefully everyone is ok. I'm glad I saw these posts, I was going to leave my house in about 10 minutes to drive over to the park and stay until closing.
  3. Great Bear in August 2005. My favorite is Nitro.
  4. When it is really cold out, like 40 degrees or below (last year Friday night of closing weekend at Great Adventure was in the mid 30s), I wore jeans, a t-shirt with a sweatshirt over the t-shirt and a jacket plus gloves and a hat. It was still a little cold but tolerable.
  5. I went on the first Sunday after Labor Day weekend in 2012 and it wasn't crowded, 10 - 15 minute waits for the most part but I don't remember if that was a bring a friend free day or not. The weekend of the 13th and 14th will be worse since there are concerts on both Saturday and Sunday. It's too bad that they aren't open on Friday nights in September this year since those were perfect times to go for low crowds and it seems like every weekend in September will be crowded this year with Fright Fest running the last 2 weekends of the month.
  6. The park was empty today, nothing was more than a 5 minute wait. It was my first visit to the park this year where Zumanjaro was running and the ride was a lot of fun. The drop was less intense than I was expecting. Superman was closed with a crane near the ride.
  7. Possessed has a height limit of 6'3". That's strange Wicked Twister is different even though its the same chain.
  8. I'm kind of surprised to hear it has been so crowded this week. I have gone to the park the last week of August almost every year since 2006 and its usually low crowds on both the ride side and waterpark.
  9. Yeah it was nice to see trains dispatching fast like they used to. It was my first trip to the park this year that Kingda Ka was open and I wasn't looking forward to waiting in a long line hearing slow the line moves now when Zumanjaro is running.
  10. I just got back from the park. Crowds were very low, other than a 30 minute wait for Nitro and 20 minutes for El Toro, nothing was more than 5 minutes, even Kingda Ka. The only bad thing was Zumanjaro was closed the entire time I was there.
  11. I agree, the park has been there for 130 years so anyone who moved in there knew about the park. I have driven on a road close to being behind Steel Force (I think it's Broadway) and it looks really cool to see so much of the park from that area.
  12. I wonder if it was people with exit passes or something similar at Nitro. Nitro's Flash Pass line merges at the station so there shouldn't be people taking rows using Flash Pass from those waiting in the station. Last year for early entry, they had the separate gates and didn't use rope drop and just opened the gates for the passholders at 10 minutes early and then let everyone else in at opening. I guess that didn't work out because the lines to get into the park were going well past the ticket booths even on slower days like a Friday night in September with a 5:30 opening.
  13. I want to see bumper cars back, regular ones not like the Krazy Kars they used to have.
  14. I usually skip it if the line is more than 20 minutes. Most of the time in past years it isn't a problem since I try to go to the park on slow days. It sounds like those days might be over though since if it is taking 20 - 30 minutes just with a station wait, then most days it is going to have a minimum of a 30+ minute line. I hope there will be a season pass night in the fall (last year there wasn't one since Fright Fest started so early), that will be a good chance to get a lot of Kingda Ka rides in.
  15. It depends on how often I get to the park (or if I will be back at all) and how good of a ride it is. At my home parks, Great Adventure and Dorney, I wouldn't wait more than 30 minutes for anything since I go to both parks so often it is no big deal to skip a ride. If it is a major coaster at a park I only get to once every year or two (like Hersheypark), I'd be willing to wait around an hour. If it is a coaster at a park that is far away, and it's a good ride I'd probably wait up to 90 minutes. If it was a clone or a bad ride like a boomerang, even if it's a new credit, I wouldn't wait more than 20 - 30 minutes. For a kiddie coaster credit, I wouldn't wait more than 10 minutes. If I was at a park that had a lot of coasters and I knew I won't be back any time soon and they had Fast Lane, Flash Pass or something similar I'd probably buy it to make sure I got all the coasters in and to avoid long lines. Whenever I get to Cedar Point, I know I will buy Fast Lane Plus because once I go, I won't be going back again anytime soon.
  16. Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa. The only tolerable part of the ride was the lift hill and I don't remember the layout at all since I was so focused on the ride ending and getting to the brake run. I had a headache for an hour later. Only the Tiger side was open and if the Lion side had been open as well, I would have skipped it even though I basically never skip a non kiddie credit. I wouod have hated to see how bad the ride was with the original PTC trains. Hercules is a close 2nd.
  17. Green Lantern at Great Adventure. There is a small maze of switchbacks at the beginning of the queue that you can't bypass and if you follow the rules and don't climb over the railings, other people will climb over them causing you to get cut in line. Then there is a long walk to the next set of switchbacks before the station. There is a single rider line and it doesn't start until almost the final set of switchbacks and if the line has around an hour wait, you could be waiting around 30 minutes just to get to the single rider line entrance.
  18. The best I have ridden is Expedition Everest. The worst Vekoma I have ridden is Stinger at Dorney. I prefer regular boomerangs (not that I like regular boomerangs much either) since Stinger has headbanging, very uncomfortable restraints and you never know if the ride is going to break down while you are riding.
  19. I hope it's not a permanent change to have Skull Mountain run 1 train. The line really moves fast with 2 trains and rarely seems to have much of a wait for it. It would also be nice to reconfigure the line so Flashpass merges like at other rides. Besides Flashpass users being forced to use car 5, when no one is using Flashpass and there is a line the ride ops usually take people from the regular line to sit there but once in a while (depending on the ride op I guess) they refuse to do that and the car goes empty.
  20. WaWa was where I usually went after each trip to the park since it was just over half price compared to food in the park. The only bad thing was going after closing, everyone had the same idea and the parking lot would almost be full. Now that the park has the dining pass, I stopped going to WaWa since last year it worked out to around $3 per meal at the park after the cost of the dining pass was factored in.
  21. Aqua Blast and the Snake Pit Python Plummet slides get the longest wait. If I were going to skip any slides, I would skip the speed slides as they are only a few seconds and can be painful. I would also possibly skip Jumpin Jack Splash. Since they now have runouts instead of going into a pool they aren't as fun and since the height requirement has been lowered, it got more popular with longer lines because it's the only full size slides that have a 42" height requirement except Aqua Racer. Also, the Python Plummet Boa Blasters are almost identical to the red and white slides at Patriot's Plunge so it probably isn't necessary to try all 4 of them (although Constrictor at Snake Pit next to the Boa Blasters is different). Also on the ride side, Thunder Canyon can get somewhat of a wait since it's next to the water park and White Water Landing is rarely more than 5 - 10 minutes, also near the water park.
  22. I think it was a state decision. If I remember correctly, the incident happened during a test run and there were no riders.
  23. The original queue had multiple sets of switchbacks and went into the middle of the ride area. There was also a viewing area. There are a few pictures of it here: http://www.gadv.com/forums/topic/7133-kks-old-queue/page-16 They stopped using it due to an incident in I think June 2005.
