  1. I'm probably going to try to get there today, the forecast keeps changing every hour. Around 2 hours ago weather.com said no rain until midnight, now its a 30% chance until 8 and then should be ok. I'm hoping its less crowded than last week, since I want to try to marathon Nitro for part of the night.
  2. Laser was my 3rd favorite coaster in the park after Talon and Steel Force. I really liked those back to back forceful loops and the final helix at the end. I used to like Hydra more before it got that rattle that is there for almost the entire ride.
  3. I think the only rides are Balloon Race, Little Laser and the rest of the Tot Spot rides that weren't moved to other parks or sold. 2 of the Tot Spot rides that were in storage are set up near the wavepool and run during Boo Blast.
  4. That reminds me of Fall Family Fun Night 2008 (season pass night). It was raining all day and stopped at around 4, multiple people called the park and were told they would be open normal hours (5 to 10). At 6:45 they announced in the park they were closing at 7:30 even though there was no rain. So many people were angry with the park since some had gotten there at 7 only to not be allowed to enter the parking lot and others got there at 6:30 and only got a few rides in. I wasn't really upset because from 5 to 7:30 I had walk ons the entire time.
  5. Runaway Mine Train at Great Adventure last night.
  6. With so many people entering the lot at around 8, I thought crowds might still be bad until closing and left a little after 10. I'm hoping next week waits will be shorter.
  7. The park was a lot more crowded than I was expecting tonight. I have gone to the first Friday night Fright Fest in October almost every year for the last 6 years and it's always been walk ons or 5 - 10 minute waits. Tonight by 8:00, some of the coasters had 45+ minute waits and some of areas of the park like the Boardwalk were very difficult to walk through since there were so many people. From Nitro's lift the lot looked almost 2/3 full.
  8. Crowds usually stay away on Friday nights since there really aren't any Halloween events in the park except trick or treating for kids 12 and under. The park is decorated with lots of lights, Halloween props and the ride names are given Halloween names. Other than that, there really isn't much else with no mazes, trails or scare zones. If you get there at 5, you should be able to get all the coasters and get re-rides plus ride anything else you want to.
  9. I went to the park the first Friday night in October they were open last year and it was empty. The only coaster that was more than a 5 minute wait was Storm Runner since they were only running 1 train (15 minute wait).
  10. They used to keep it open until at least late September now I think the water rides close when Haunt starts. On Saturday, the trough was drained.
  11. Skull Mountain, September 2002
  12. http://www.greatadventurehistory.com/Forums/index.php?showtopic=3926&page=5#entry58267 There is a 2014 Fright Fest map here that shows where all the trails are.
  13. I went to the park for a couple of hours last night and the rides and Haunt attractions all had short lines. Talon, Hydra and Steel Force all were running 1 train and Steel Force had about a 10 minute wait. I saw a lot of people go up to Blackout thinking it was open to everyone and they were turned away since it is Fright Lane only. Unfortunately, it has been like that for as long as I can remember. It would be nice to see it changed and re-rides allowed but I don't mind it too much since I know I'm not going to be waiting in much of a line for anything when I go to the park.
  14. Hopefully everyone is ok. I'm glad I saw these posts, I was going to leave my house in about 10 minutes to drive over to the park and stay until closing.
  15. Great Bear in August 2005. My favorite is Nitro.
  16. When it is really cold out, like 40 degrees or below (last year Friday night of closing weekend at Great Adventure was in the mid 30s), I wore jeans, a t-shirt with a sweatshirt over the t-shirt and a jacket plus gloves and a hat. It was still a little cold but tolerable.
  17. I went on the first Sunday after Labor Day weekend in 2012 and it wasn't crowded, 10 - 15 minute waits for the most part but I don't remember if that was a bring a friend free day or not. The weekend of the 13th and 14th will be worse since there are concerts on both Saturday and Sunday. It's too bad that they aren't open on Friday nights in September this year since those were perfect times to go for low crowds and it seems like every weekend in September will be crowded this year with Fright Fest running the last 2 weekends of the month.
  18. The park was empty today, nothing was more than a 5 minute wait. It was my first visit to the park this year where Zumanjaro was running and the ride was a lot of fun. The drop was less intense than I was expecting. Superman was closed with a crane near the ride.
  19. Possessed has a height limit of 6'3". That's strange Wicked Twister is different even though its the same chain.
  20. I'm kind of surprised to hear it has been so crowded this week. I have gone to the park the last week of August almost every year since 2006 and its usually low crowds on both the ride side and waterpark.
  21. Yeah it was nice to see trains dispatching fast like they used to. It was my first trip to the park this year that Kingda Ka was open and I wasn't looking forward to waiting in a long line hearing slow the line moves now when Zumanjaro is running.
  22. I just got back from the park. Crowds were very low, other than a 30 minute wait for Nitro and 20 minutes for El Toro, nothing was more than 5 minutes, even Kingda Ka. The only bad thing was Zumanjaro was closed the entire time I was there.
  23. I agree, the park has been there for 130 years so anyone who moved in there knew about the park. I have driven on a road close to being behind Steel Force (I think it's Broadway) and it looks really cool to see so much of the park from that area.
