I got a few Hurricane Harbor questions for anyone that has been there in the past few years. I have been hesitant to go to Hurricane Harbor because of all the problems I hear but haven't been to a water park yet this year and didn't renew my Dorney pass this year so I'm probably going to try it sometime in July (on a weekday). If you park first in the Hurricane Harbor lot using a gold pass, can you then leave and go to the theme park parking lot will they not allow that (multiple lot entries in the same day) and if so I guess I need to park at theme park entrance and take the shuttle over? I see there is tube rental and Flash Pass. If you get Flash Pass, do you bypass the wait to get a tube if you don't rent a tube rental or are you better off just renting a tube without Flash Pass to avoid the tube lines before you get to the stairs? This is one reason I am hesitant to go because I heard waits can be long even on the stairs past the Flash Pass merge point even if I buy the Flash Pass. I know King Cobra has a 200 pound weight limit. I looked up the rider access guide for the other tube slides and the only restriction I saw was a 400 pound weight limit for double riders. Someone in a TripAdvisor review mentioned all tube slides have a 200 pound weight limit for single riders. Is it just King Cobra with the 200 pound weight limit? Thanks

For Great Adventure all rides are available on all levels of Flashpass (last year Zumanjaro was on gold and platinum only). The only rides that don't allow double rides are El Diablo and I think possibly Zumanjaro. There are no reservation limits. Dorney has early entry but it isn't more than a ride or two. I know the wavepool has early access but not sure if this year any coasters are open early. Fast Lane is not needed at Dorney unless you were planning to go to the water park where there are lines but even then only 7 slides and the 2 lazy rivers are on Fast Lane Plus. Kennywood's VIP has you select a row for the coasters and a time window to come back for each coaster that is spread throughout the day usually around an hour between each coaster. They give you a landyard that has the coaster name and then get it gets punched out on the lanyard when you ride that coaster. It is reasonably priced at around $15 or $20. I was planning to buy it but when I was there all rides were walk ons except Phantom's Revenge so I don't remember the exact price. -

Giant Supermarkets usually sell discounted tickets. A few years ago I think it was around $12 off the gate price. -

Yeah it seems random when they close it off or keep it open. I have seen it open with a 10 minute wait and closed when there is a 45 minute wait. It's also so far in the queue when it's a really long line it won't save much time and seems to work best when it is a 15 to 20 minute wait when you can usually walk right on using the single rider line. Zumanjaro's single rider line seems to vary. Sometimes they take 3 or 4 people per cycle other times 0 or 1 so I only use it if there are around 15 or less people in line.

It will likely be crowded. Its still bring a friend free for pass holders, there is a charity walk and a couple of magic shows. As for Fright Fest, I only will go to the park on Friday nights or Columbus Day. Friday nights generally have low crowds (the first one last year was an exception), even Halloween which I thought would be crowded was 5 to 10 minute waits all night. This year Halloween is on a Saturday so I expect it to be much more crowded than last year.

El Toro 2 days ago -
Yeah today was a great day to be at the park. If Kingda Ka had been open and Superman had been open more of the day I think lines would have been even shorter the entire day. There were some points where the coasters did get some lines, El Toro had the 1st set of switchbacks full and Zumanjaro was about 30 minutes in the afternoon but overall, most lines were 10 minutes or less. Tomorrow and Friday should be more crowded. Tomorrow is Student Council Day which means a few thousand extra kids on class trips and Friday is Grad Nite, where normally the school trips leave in the afternoon but all the senior trips part of the event will be staying until closing (and past closing for their event).

There were a lot more school groups in the park on Friday compared to the past 2 weeks. Lines still weren't that bad though except for some reason Skull Mountain had around 30 minute wait when I walked past it. El Toro was also running 1 train for part of the day but they added a 2nd train later. Nitro was dispatching trains very fast with barely any stacking. I thought Zumanjaro was going to open since they had someone at the entrance with the height check stick compared to the past 2 weeks when they had no one there with the entrance chained off with a ride closed sign and there was a line forming but it never opened.
-
They were testing El Diablo with riders at around 7:00. It was drawing a small crowd with some people disappointed it wasn't open. Zumanjaro is still closed and Kingda Ka was closed for part of the day. Other than Kingda Ka with about a 15 minute wait after it opened, nothing else was more than a 1 to 2 train wait the entire time I was at the park.
-
Some notes from today: Zumanjaro was closed the entire time I was at the park, it seems like it has been having a lot of problems this season. This was my 5th visit to the park this year and I have only managed to get 2 rides in because of the multiple breakdowns and closings. Operations were good with less stacking at most rides. There were a lot of school groups with Physics Day and Music In The Parks but overall crowds were very low with my longest wait of the day being 10 minutes for Kingda Ka which was only because it had reopened after a breakdown so a lot of people went to the ride then. I got 19 coaster rides from 1:30 to closing at 6:00. Multiple trains were running early in the day but as the schools left or went to the award ceremonies, some rides took off trains. Bizarro went to 2 trains and Green Lantern went to 1 train.
-
Today was more crowded than the past 3 Sundays, maybe because today was the final day for to process the passes with the free parking offer when 2 or more passes were purchased. Twister is still closed and Zumanjaro continues to have problems. It broke down when I was next to ride 2 weeks ago and last week when everyone was buckled and and about to dispatch. Today it broke down earlier in the day and then broke down at around 5:30 and I don't think ever reopened. El Toro also broke down twice including when the train I was in got to the brake run. With Zumanjaro breaking down, everyone seems to be going to Kingda Ka with it having a line of around 45 minutes even at 7:00.

Unfortunately they stopped having Fall Family Night. Either 2011 or 2012 was the last year they had it when Fright Fest started to begin in mid September. In 2013 when they were open Friday nights in September it was basically the same thing as a season pass night since the park was so empty but they stopped that too since attendance was so low on those nights.
-
I just hope if hardly anyone shows up they don't cancel it or close early. In 2008 I went to the fall season pass night and it had been raining all day but stopped before 5, when the event started. Multiple people called the park to make sure the event was still going to happen and the park wouldn't close early. At 7:00 they made the announcement the park was closing at 7:30 instead of 10. I later heard attendance was barely over 400 people which I believe. I took the Skyway that day and saw 5 people total walking around that section of the park. It was a great 2 1/2 hours for power riding for anyone that got there at opening but others drove to the park getting there around 7 and got turned away from entering in the parking lot.
-
I also avoid the park on any Saturday. For Fright Fest I only go to the park on Friday nights and Columbus Day because I have seen enough pictures and reports from Saturday Fright Fest days to know I don't want to go. Reports that the main lot, overflow lot, Hurricane Harbor lot are all full with cars parked on the grass and seeing pictures of Nitro's line to the game stand near the arcade and Barman with an almost full queue doesn't sound like a fun day at the park.
-
I was happy to see that change. I always had people cut in front of me because I refused to climb over the bars and if the park is crowded enough to have that section of the queue being used, I don't want to be there anyway (the past few years during Fright Fest they even had an overflow queue with chains and trashcans for Green Lantern and other coasters).

White Lightning at Fun Spot, coaster number #99 and I want my 100th coaster to be something better than my 50th which was Rollie's Coaster at Morey's Piers.
