I wonder if it was people with exit passes or something similar at Nitro. Nitro's Flash Pass line merges at the station so there shouldn't be people taking rows using Flash Pass from those waiting in the station. Last year for early entry, they had the separate gates and didn't use rope drop and just opened the gates for the passholders at 10 minutes early and then let everyone else in at opening. I guess that didn't work out because the lines to get into the park were going well past the ticket booths even on slower days like a Friday night in September with a 5:30 opening.

I usually skip it if the line is more than 20 minutes. Most of the time in past years it isn't a problem since I try to go to the park on slow days. It sounds like those days might be over though since if it is taking 20 - 30 minutes just with a station wait, then most days it is going to have a minimum of a 30+ minute line. I hope there will be a season pass night in the fall (last year there wasn't one since Fright Fest started so early), that will be a good chance to get a lot of Kingda Ka rides in.

It depends on how often I get to the park (or if I will be back at all) and how good of a ride it is. At my home parks, Great Adventure and Dorney, I wouldn't wait more than 30 minutes for anything since I go to both parks so often it is no big deal to skip a ride. If it is a major coaster at a park I only get to once every year or two (like Hersheypark), I'd be willing to wait around an hour. If it is a coaster at a park that is far away, and it's a good ride I'd probably wait up to 90 minutes. If it was a clone or a bad ride like a boomerang, even if it's a new credit, I wouldn't wait more than 20 - 30 minutes. For a kiddie coaster credit, I wouldn't wait more than 10 minutes. If I was at a park that had a lot of coasters and I knew I won't be back any time soon and they had Fast Lane, Flash Pass or something similar I'd probably buy it to make sure I got all the coasters in and to avoid long lines. Whenever I get to Cedar Point, I know I will buy Fast Lane Plus because once I go, I won't be going back again anytime soon.

Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa. The only tolerable part of the ride was the lift hill and I don't remember the layout at all since I was so focused on the ride ending and getting to the brake run. I had a headache for an hour later. Only the Tiger side was open and if the Lion side had been open as well, I would have skipped it even though I basically never skip a non kiddie credit. I wouod have hated to see how bad the ride was with the original PTC trains. Hercules is a close 2nd.

Green Lantern at Great Adventure. There is a small maze of switchbacks at the beginning of the queue that you can't bypass and if you follow the rules and don't climb over the railings, other people will climb over them causing you to get cut in line. Then there is a long walk to the next set of switchbacks before the station. There is a single rider line and it doesn't start until almost the final set of switchbacks and if the line has around an hour wait, you could be waiting around 30 minutes just to get to the single rider line entrance.

Vekoma Roller Coasters
YoshiFan replied to kingdakacor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The best I have ridden is Expedition Everest. The worst Vekoma I have ridden is Stinger at Dorney. I prefer regular boomerangs (not that I like regular boomerangs much either) since Stinger has headbanging, very uncomfortable restraints and you never know if the ride is going to break down while you are riding. -
I hope it's not a permanent change to have Skull Mountain run 1 train. The line really moves fast with 2 trains and rarely seems to have much of a wait for it. It would also be nice to reconfigure the line so Flashpass merges like at other rides. Besides Flashpass users being forced to use car 5, when no one is using Flashpass and there is a line the ride ops usually take people from the regular line to sit there but once in a while (depending on the ride op I guess) they refuse to do that and the car goes empty.

WaWa was where I usually went after each trip to the park since it was just over half price compared to food in the park. The only bad thing was going after closing, everyone had the same idea and the parking lot would almost be full. Now that the park has the dining pass, I stopped going to WaWa since last year it worked out to around $3 per meal at the park after the cost of the dining pass was factored in.

Aqua Blast and the Snake Pit Python Plummet slides get the longest wait. If I were going to skip any slides, I would skip the speed slides as they are only a few seconds and can be painful. I would also possibly skip Jumpin Jack Splash. Since they now have runouts instead of going into a pool they aren't as fun and since the height requirement has been lowered, it got more popular with longer lines because it's the only full size slides that have a 42" height requirement except Aqua Racer. Also, the Python Plummet Boa Blasters are almost identical to the red and white slides at Patriot's Plunge so it probably isn't necessary to try all 4 of them (although Constrictor at Snake Pit next to the Boa Blasters is different). Also on the ride side, Thunder Canyon can get somewhat of a wait since it's next to the water park and White Water Landing is rarely more than 5 - 10 minutes, also near the water park.

Longest queue line
YoshiFan replied to Sprint390g's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Superman at Great Adventure and Kingda Ka's original queue. I remember hearing the original queue could hold a 7 or 8 hour line. -
I'm hoping to go to the park either next week or the week after. I'm not sure if I am going to ride Zumanjaro or not and am looking forward to Kingda Ka being open. It's been closed all my trips to the park this year since except for the first 2 weekends the park was open, every other time I have been to the park has been a weekday.

Longest SBNO / Shortest Opened Coasters
YoshiFan replied to Heth's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not as short as ring racer, Wild Wonder at Gillian's Wonderland Pier only opened for a few months (probably April or May) before closing in August the same year. http://rcdb.com/600.htm -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

I wouldn't be that upset if Wildcat ever got removed. I haven't tried the coaster in a few years since the last few times I have ridden it, I got a headache from it even with the Millennium Flyer trains. I still don't think it was as bad as Gwazi though. -

I was there last year on July 1st, it was a Monday. I only had 3 1/2 hours and was able to ride all the coasters except Lil' Phantom (even though you don't need a kid to ride) and also rode 6 or 7 non coaster rides. The only coaster with a line was Phantom's Revenge since only 1 train was running. The low crowds might have been an exception to normal though since it was supposed to rain and only rained for about 20 minutes earlier in the day. I was there from 6:00 to 9:30 that day. -
I have been going to the park once a week since opening weekend and haven't waited in a line more than 20 minutes all season. The only time I have seen lines more than 30 minutes this year were earlier in the day the past few weeks when there were a lot of school groups and I skipped the major coasters then and went back to them once the school groups left and lines were much shorter. Once Kingda Ka is open every day and Zumanjaro opens that should help with lines even more. I have only gone on weekdays though (except Sunday of opening weekend and Easter Sunday).

The park was empty tonight. When I got to the park after 4:00 there were a lot of school groups leaving and it looks like lines might have been bad earlier in the day because of that. Even with the rides being walk ons or 5 - 10 minute waits they were still running maximum trains on everything. Even the parachutes had 3 out of 4 sides open with no line.
