  1. Looks cool. I hate how dark rides are becoming a thing of a past so it's good to see that at least some new dark rides are being built. I hope that they also put the ride in Disney World as well (maybe in MGM?), as long as they don't tear out any "classic" Fantasyland ride to build it.
  2. I'm not a member of ACE. I looked into it but I realized there was no point for me to join since I probably wouldn't attend any events since I don't travel much and don't go to amusement parks as often as others (too far away).
  3. I voted for Disney, overall, I think they are just the best chain of parks with great rides, a great environment as well as just a fun place to be at, that's not really a chain, they have only have one park (that I know of) They "sort of" own Dutch Wonderland as well. I say sort of because I think they bought the park but it's run by a different company name other than Hershey, but at the same time, they incorporated some things with both parks by offering a combo ticket for the 2 parks and moving rides from one park to the other such as the kiddie whip.
  4. Saw Mill Log Flume at Great Adventure. It's one of the longest log flumes in the country and it travels really fast through the track and it has 3 drops.
  5. I think the problem with Dorney is that once Cedar Fair bought it, it started to lose it's classic amusement park feel with the removal of a lot of classic rides like Journey To The Center of The Earth, those rockets like in Disney's California Adventure and the more recent removal of the boat ride (Water Skooters?) as well as some other flat rides like the Paratrooper. It seems like they are turning Dorney into another thrill park which I think makes it less unique and special
  6. I have only been to Hershey and Dorney and my favorite is Hershey. My favorite ride there is the Comet.
  7. I don't know if that's it or not, but those long yellow slides are still there but they got rid of the huge bridge that you walked through Big Bird's mouth to access them. Now you just walk up stairs. Or was it a different slide? Or if you mean the slides in this picture: http://www.themeparkbrochures.com/2001/sp2001_4.html They are still there as well.
  8. My local waterpark is Sesame Place. It isn't that great unless you are a kid since nothing is that thrilling and all the shows and attractions besides the water rides are of course, geared toward the under 10 crowd, and to make things worse just about any day during the summer the place is packed. I know water parks are crowded during the summer, but people come from all over the country to Sesame Place and it can get crazy there. It's a great family park though. They have about 6 slides, a small wavepool, 2 flat rides and a Vekoma Jr. Coaster.
  9. I hope they keep EB seperate and still run it the way it is. EB usually has awesome deals on old games, I have never gotten a deal at Gamestop (finding a good not used game for under $5)
  10. Max. is even faster, at one part of the song it gets to 600 bpm, it's a 9 foot song on light. I still have trouble with it. It's only on the Japanese PS2 version of Extreme though
  11. I don't understand the point of having a maximum height limit on a ride, especially when the limit is not there because of safety. If the ride is safe for people over 52" to ride, then anyone should be allowed on. It also means more money for the place since they get more riders. I know it's probably to make sure the wait time is never too long for kids but at a place like that, I can't imagine the wait is ever that bad. In general, I wish that parks would use age for determining if you are allowed on kiddie rides rather than height as long as it's safe for someone of any height to go on the ride. It doesn't seem right to me that an 8 or 9 year old for example who might be tall for their age would not be allowed to go on certain rides with a height limit (even though people over the height limit might be allowed on the ride if they have a child within the height limit so it's not a matter of safety), but if an adult happens to be short like under 5 feet, they would be allowed on certain kiddie rides (not that most adults would want to go on a kiddie ride, I'm just saying they would be allowed to)
  12. Great game, a little short but it is fun to play. I hope they release the sequel in the US (I think they will since the first game sold well here, over 100,000 copies which is good for a niche game that really doesn't have mainstream appeal)
  13. I wouldn't go to Ocean City or Atlantic City unless you really want the credits. Ocean City this year is really not great. Gillian's got rid of their City Jet coaster so all they have is a small Miner Mike kiddie coaster and a Wacky Worm (they are supposed to get a new coaster this year but construction has not started). Playland's Castaway Cove got rid of their Mighty Mouse coaster and today, all that was running was the Flitzer (their Python Pinfairi Looping Coaster had some track on the ground so I'm not sure what's going on there). Steel Pier in Atlantic City only has a Crazy Mouse spinning coaster and some kiddie coaster and I think unless you buy an all day pass, just to ride the Crazy Mouse once is $5.25. I think Atlantic City overall is just dissapointing in how there is so little there compared to Las Vegas. Tivoli Pier, the other park in Atlantic City (it was inside the Tropicana) closed and more and more casino's seem to want to keep families out of Atlantic City with some casino's starting a policy where you have to be 18 just to enter the place (not the actual casino floor but also the entire building including the shops and restaurants)
  14. Cedar Fair must have something against dark rides since besides those two rides, right after they bought Dorney Park, they decide to tear down Journey to the Center of the Earth (and maybe Iceberg, but I'm not sure if it was gone before Cedar Fair bought Dorney or not). Then they closed of Kingdom of the Dinosaur's at Knott's a few months ago. Yeah, it's horrible how Epcot got rid those 2 rides. Disney is trying to add thrills to Epcot but taking away what made the park so great. I'll admit Test Track is a great ride but I would have rather seen them keep World of Motion and build Test Track where Wonders of Life is (since now, Wonders of Life seems to be closed 75%+ of the time). Same with Horizons, they tore down a really unique ride for a thrill ride that a lot of people aren't even willing to ride because its so intense. And I know it's really not a dark ride, but there's also the Sea Cabs in the Living Seas, so in less than 10 years, Epcot lost 3 Omnimover rides.
  15. It seems like Dark Rides are a thing of the past. Parks seem to be closing them more than building new ones. It's a shame because they are rides that almost anyone can go on and parks now also seem to have fewer and fewer non thrill family rides as well.
  16. It might be that there is a song that samples the same meleody, but I don't think so (like the same way that the song Waka Laka I think samples Yellow Submarine), but I don't think there is a remake of Mandy in DDR.
  17. No, insurance is high enough as it is since I am in the high risk category according to insurance companies so I try not to take chances speeding. I'll go 5 - 10 mph over the speed limit but I never drive faster than that.
  18. No, American games won't work on a UK PS2. If you don't already have them, you could just get the Dancing Stage games for PS2.
  19. I will get the PSP eventually but the thing that bothers me is that "value pack" Sony is forcing us to buy. In Japan, they released the system stand alone and released the value pack as well. Spending $50 extra for some accessories that are useless to me (a case that really doesn't protect the system, a small memory stick, headphones) isn't something I want to do so I am waiting for Sony to release just the system here like they did in Japan. I guess I can't complain too much though considering in Canada, Sony bundled almost every PSP with Gretzky NHL for full price and then didn't even give them a PSP case for the game (just a cardboard sleeve). Katamari Damacy is being released for the DS, no word on a PSP version yet.
  20. Unfortunately, it looks like people aren't being completely honest when filling out the wait time info, Hydra is already listed with having a short wait time when it of course hasn't even opened yet.
  21. Hershey can be done in 1 day. Although if you plan to do more than just Hersheypark like Chocolate World, Hershey Musueum, Gardens and spending a lot of time at Zoo America (free with park admission), then a 2nd day could be needed. It still will probably be somewhat crowded in the last week of August since most schools are still on summer vacation.
  22. DORNEY PARK Thunder Hawk - B+ HERSHEY PARK Comet - A Sooperdooperlooper - A-
  23. The three-loop roller coaster part sounded interesting until I saw they were talking about a Boomerang. I thought at first they meant it was something like a Schwarzkopf 3 loop coaster (or something similar)
  24. Hercules at Dorney Park. I know a lot of people said it was rough but I still liked the ride (last time I rode it was in 2000 so maybe it was more rough in 2001 - 2003?)
  25. In Suburban Philadelphia, I filled up with 87 for $2.09 yesterday.
