  1. I voted they're ok. I have only been on a ZL42 (Looping) at Ocean City, NJ. It was a short ride but the drop was ok for a small coaster and the loop was good. What I don't get is why some of their non looping coasters have OSTR's, like the one in Wildwood, NJ
  2. I used them for the first time last year when I had an annual pass and I didn't like them. Not so much for the privacy concern (I wasn't happy about it but not that upset like the people in the article was) but the fact that they didn't seem to work to well. It would happen at least every once out of 2 or 3 times that it wouldn't work and the employee just had to over-ride the system anyway. I saw it happening to others as well where the scanners didn't work and they had to over ride it for them as well. They claimed it was the heat that causes them to malfunction.
  3. I went to both MGM and Animal Kingdom the first year they opened and I hated both parks when I first visited them. MGM I thought was a disaster, I think only 2 rides (Great Movie Ride and The Backlot Tour). I hated Animal Kingdom even more. They had what, 4 or 5 attractions (not counting the animal walkthroughs), and each had ridiculous lines and then they closed the boat rides to have even less attractions. And the 2002 expansion was great , adding what is basically another Dumbo ride and a set of coasters that you can find at many parks now. They are still my least favorite WDW parks but I have grown to like MGM more but I wouldn't even miss going to WDW and skipping Animal Kingdom. Despite what Disney says, I still see it as a zoo with some rides and attractions thrown in, which I can see at home (Philadelphia Zoo and I can ride Primevial Whirl in Atlantic City, NJ without the Dino Theme)
  4. They have it for Playstation 2 in the US so you could always get that if you have the system and like the game enough to buy it. Also: http://www.ddrfreak.com/locations/locations.php?action=displayLocation&locationID=232 That arcade in LA has the arcade version (it's the Taiko game in the listing). A lot of arcades in the LA area have the Japanese music games that are so popular. Unfortunately, Konami and Namco don't seem to realize that people in the US want these games too and won't release the music games in the arcades in the US other than DDR.
  5. I think 1 1/2 days should be enough time for Hershey. Hershey rarely has really long lines (usually nothing is over an hour long even for the popular rides) and although there are a lot of great rides, I think you should be able to go on every ride you want with that much time. I was there last September and most of the coasters were either walk ons or 5 - 15 minute waits. The longest line I saw all day was Storm Runner which looked to be about 30 - 40 minutes (didn't ride)
  6. I'm not sure about Jester but with Houdini, it was discovered that there was no way to safely evacuate the ride I think if there was a power outage (it's a Vekoma Haunted Swing). The ride is closed until they can make the proper adjustments to make the ride safe. The same ride at Great Adventure is closed for the same reason.
  7. Saw this on the local news today http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/news/06192005_nw_steelpier.html Pictures of the ride are on the web page at the top where it says images I hope everyone is alright from the accident. I have been to Steel Pier a few times but never ridden anything there because I just don't like the way the park or the rides look. It almost looks like a carnival (complete with the annoying game operators asking everyone walking by to try out their rigged games like the basketball game with the oval basket rim) rather than an amusement park.
  8. Batman and Robin The Chiller since it only has 1 train on each side (if Batman is open, if just Robin is open then of course there will only be 1 train total) Nitro, since it's arguably the most popular coaster in the park other than Kingda Ka Batman The Ride, also still popular and can can sometimes get long waits. All 3 rides are in the same part of the park in Movie Town.
  9. Loch Ness Monster
  10. If they get another coaster, I think they need something in between what they have now. Dragons and Hulk are both major coasters but Flying Unicorn and Pteradon Flyers are more family coasters. A hyper sounds like a good idea. I'd also like to see them get the Driving Machines up and running (I know it probably won't happen). It's a shame to have all that track up there and most of the ride completed but having it SBNO.
  11. Yeah it's somewhat mild. I haven't been on it since all the work has been done on it recently but last time I went on Rolling Thunder, it was a little rough.
  12. I think it's true. They sure seemed to be in a rush to tear down Viper and with all the markings on trees, I think a new coaster is coming
  13. I would suggest going to Hershey. I think it's an all around excellent park. They have a wide variety of coasters most of which are great and a nice collection of other rides. The park is also just a nice place to be in since it is very clean and is kept up well. Plus, there is Chocolate World with the darkride " factory tour" which is something fun and different.
  14. Sounds like the capacity is going to be horrible, it says there are only 6 logs.
  15. I voted for PS3 which is the first system I'll get, but I might get Revolution once it has a price drop. I'm hesitant to get a new Nintendo console because I was very dissapointed with Gamecube. Some of my favorite SNES and N64 games had IMO, terrible Gamecube versions. For example, I thought Mario Kart on SNES and Mario Kart 64 were excellent games, but hated Double Dash on Gamecube (too many weapons and the game seemed like the AI was cheap). Another example was Waverace. Waverace 64 was one of my favorite N64 games but I thought the Gamecube version had horrible control and bad course design. If the Revolution games turn out to be great, then I'll get the system. And most importantly for me, PS2 is the system for DDR (both import and US versions). Nintendo systems always get side versions of DDR like Disney Dancing Museum on N64 and Mario DDR for Gamecube (and the 5 Gameboy Color DDR games). I like being able to play ports of the DDR arcade games at home and PS2 is the only system to have the DDR games that are like the arcade versions. Considering PS1 also had over 20 DDR games, I think PS3 will also be the system for DDR.
  16. I have seen those at almost every mall in my area as well. It's annoying because even though the games are old, the people selling them are still profiting on something illegal (since I doubt they bought the rights to put those games/roms in the system they are selling). I have reported it to Nintendo with the mall names and the name of the kiosks (through their piracy reporting part of the site) and Nintendo was supposedly going after all the stores/kiosks selling them and shutting them down but they have still been selling them for over a year.
  17. The hotel opens up Memorial Day. They are going to have a game show there that is a little like the GameLab show that was in Nick Studios.
  18. I was going to mention South of the Border as well. They always used to have tons of billboards up on I-95 about the place and a few years ago, we stopped there to use the restroom and just to see what it was. I know it was to be expected but if anyplace screams "tourist trap", that place is it. To make things worse, "Pedro's Wild Mouse Coaster" has been SBNO for a while according to RCDB (I have never seen it run but most times I drive past South of the Border it's in December or January so it probably wouldn't be running anyway). What's also strange is that some of the billboards on the road advertising the place actually advertise the coaster and encourage people to stop and ride the coaster. I guess that just shows how often they update their billboards.
  19. I definetly understand why they did this. Last time I was there was 12/03 and during past trips there the tour took you upstairs where you could see the sets of shows. We were told the studio isn't even used for shows anymore (save for Slimetime Live or Spalt) so the tour doesn't go upstairs. All it went to was that Gamelab. I remember when the studio opened and they always used to make a big deal about how certain shows were filmed there like All That or What Would You Do? It's still sad to see it go though and I hope they preserve the time capsule that was burried there.
  20. I wish Great Adventure could have traded Vipers with Astroworld. Then Great Adventure could have gotten a medium thrill coaster (Astroworld's Viper is a Schwarzkopf Looping Star). Great Adventure has plenty of thrilling coasters (Kingda Ka, Nitro, GASM, Batman, Chiller, Medusa) and some tamer coasters (Blackbeard, Skull Mountain, Rolling Thunder, Runaway Train and the kiddie coaster) but there really seems to be nothing "in between" for people who want something more than the tamer coasters but aren't ready for the big thrill coasters.
  21. Sounds like it was a great day especially without bad lines. I was supposed to go to Dorney today as well but unfortunately I wasn't able to get there.
  22. I have only been to Canada's Wonderland and King's Dominion. Out of those 2, I liked Canada's Wonderland better. I thought the atmosphere was better and the selection of rides was better.
  23. Sounds like the only way to have any chance of a less than 2 hour wait is having to run right when the rope drops. I hate to think how crowded it will be on a weekend over the summer. Sounds like the ride is a lot of fun. The new higher speed limit on the turnpike is great. I hated how part of it was 55 while other parts were 65. Driving to King of Prussia last week, I was surprised to see the 65 mph signs as soon as I got on the turnpike.
  24. It's a shame, some of Disney's games used to be great. Aladdin for Genesis was awesome for it's time and The Lion King for Genesis/SNES was also good. Now, it seems that like the Disney Channel, the games are not interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing a next generation sequel to Adventures In The Magic Kingdom either.
