Recomended PA parks...
YoshiFan replied to TwistedTrack's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would suggest going to Hershey. I think it's an all around excellent park. They have a wide variety of coasters most of which are great and a nice collection of other rides. The park is also just a nice place to be in since it is very clean and is kept up well. Plus, there is Chocolate World with the darkride " factory tour" which is something fun and different. -
NEWS: Idlewild Opens New Log Flume
YoshiFan replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sounds like the capacity is going to be horrible, it says there are only 6 logs. -
Your favorite new home console?
YoshiFan replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Random, Random, Random
I voted for PS3 which is the first system I'll get, but I might get Revolution once it has a price drop. I'm hesitant to get a new Nintendo console because I was very dissapointed with Gamecube. Some of my favorite SNES and N64 games had IMO, terrible Gamecube versions. For example, I thought Mario Kart on SNES and Mario Kart 64 were excellent games, but hated Double Dash on Gamecube (too many weapons and the game seemed like the AI was cheap). Another example was Waverace. Waverace 64 was one of my favorite N64 games but I thought the Gamecube version had horrible control and bad course design. If the Revolution games turn out to be great, then I'll get the system. And most importantly for me, PS2 is the system for DDR (both import and US versions). Nintendo systems always get side versions of DDR like Disney Dancing Museum on N64 and Mario DDR for Gamecube (and the 5 Gameboy Color DDR games). I like being able to play ports of the DDR arcade games at home and PS2 is the only system to have the DDR games that are like the arcade versions. Considering PS1 also had over 20 DDR games, I think PS3 will also be the system for DDR. -
I have seen those at almost every mall in my area as well. It's annoying because even though the games are old, the people selling them are still profiting on something illegal (since I doubt they bought the rights to put those games/roms in the system they are selling). I have reported it to Nintendo with the mall names and the name of the kiosks (through their piracy reporting part of the site) and Nintendo was supposedly going after all the stores/kiosks selling them and shutting them down but they have still been selling them for over a year.

So what Roadside strangeness have you seen?
YoshiFan replied to CoasterG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was going to mention South of the Border as well. They always used to have tons of billboards up on I-95 about the place and a few years ago, we stopped there to use the restroom and just to see what it was. I know it was to be expected but if anyplace screams "tourist trap", that place is it. To make things worse, "Pedro's Wild Mouse Coaster" has been SBNO for a while according to RCDB (I have never seen it run but most times I drive past South of the Border it's in December or January so it probably wouldn't be running anyway). What's also strange is that some of the billboards on the road advertising the place actually advertise the coaster and encourage people to stop and ride the coaster. I guess that just shows how often they update their billboards. -
I definetly understand why they did this. Last time I was there was 12/03 and during past trips there the tour took you upstairs where you could see the sets of shows. We were told the studio isn't even used for shows anymore (save for Slimetime Live or Spalt) so the tour doesn't go upstairs. All it went to was that Gamelab. I remember when the studio opened and they always used to make a big deal about how certain shows were filmed there like All That or What Would You Do? It's still sad to see it go though and I hope they preserve the time capsule that was burried there.

I wish Great Adventure could have traded Vipers with Astroworld. Then Great Adventure could have gotten a medium thrill coaster (Astroworld's Viper is a Schwarzkopf Looping Star). Great Adventure has plenty of thrilling coasters (Kingda Ka, Nitro, GASM, Batman, Chiller, Medusa) and some tamer coasters (Blackbeard, Skull Mountain, Rolling Thunder, Runaway Train and the kiddie coaster) but there really seems to be nothing "in between" for people who want something more than the tamer coasters but aren't ready for the big thrill coasters.

TR: Dorney Park
YoshiFan replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sounds like it was a great day especially without bad lines. I was supposed to go to Dorney today as well but unfortunately I wasn't able to get there. -
Which is your favorite?
YoshiFan replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have only been to Canada's Wonderland and King's Dominion. Out of those 2, I liked Canada's Wonderland better. I thought the atmosphere was better and the selection of rides was better. -
Sounds like the only way to have any chance of a less than 2 hour wait is having to run right when the rope drops. I hate to think how crowded it will be on a weekend over the summer. Sounds like the ride is a lot of fun. The new higher speed limit on the turnpike is great. I hated how part of it was 55 while other parts were 65. Driving to King of Prussia last week, I was surprised to see the 65 mph signs as soon as I got on the turnpike.

Disney Interactive announces new games for 2005
YoshiFan replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Random, Random, Random
It's a shame, some of Disney's games used to be great. Aladdin for Genesis was awesome for it's time and The Lion King for Genesis/SNES was also good. Now, it seems that like the Disney Channel, the games are not interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing a next generation sequel to Adventures In The Magic Kingdom either. -
Looks great, looks like that will be the system I'll be getting. The only thing I don't like is how they changed the controller. Since the Dual Analog controller was released in 1997, the controller has remained almost the same except for the rumble in the Dual Shock and the pressure sensetive buttons in the Dual Shock 2. After over 7 years of using the same controller setup for PS1 and PS2, I think it will be difficult to get used to something new. The fact that it plays PS1 game and PS2 games is great. I use my PS2 to play my PS1 games all the time, especially my Japanese PS2 since I still am getting Japanese PS1 games (thanks to Konami for not releasing any of those cool Bemani music games in the US besides DDR), so I know I'll play PS1 and PS2 games on the PS3.

Some official word on the new XBOX 360.
YoshiFan replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
So far I'm not impressed. The games shown don't look that great. It seems like everything is a sequel to an exisitng game franchise and I'm getting tired of playing the same games over and over again. I'm also not happy that the Tony Hawk series is trying to be Grand Theft Auto with the showing of Tony Hawk Wasteland. I think part of the problem for me is that I am starting to lose interest in gaming because everything seems the same, and there aren't as many as unique and original games like there used to be. This generation of systems I had PS2, Xbox and Gamecube but for the next generation of systems, I'll probably end up getting PS3. -
Afraid of coasters as a kid?
YoshiFan replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When I was a kid, I sometimes went on tame coasters like the Zamperla Dragon coaster but I didn't start going on full size coaster (Sky Princess at Dutch Wonderland or Big Thunder Mountain at Disney World), until I was 12. -

Some of the queues look crazy. I'd hate to be at a park on a day when they were full. Nice photos -
That would be great. I really liked the old Future World part of Epcot from the 80's and early 90's. Test Track is fun and everything but I still wish the old rides where there. I hate how Disney is trying to make every new ride a thrill ride like Mission Space, since not everyone can enjoy those rides and the original idea with Disney parks was to build a place where families could go on rides together.

It's too bad they got rid of Joker, that was one of my favorite non coaster rides in the park -
Have you been to Disney?
YoshiFan replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have been to WDW 15 times, and been to all 4 parks there. Never been to Disneyland but I want to go eventually. -
Trailblazer(Hersheypark)'s helix
YoshiFan replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, it's way too short of a ride. It was my 1st coaster at Hershey so I still go on it when I am there since there is never more than 5 minute wait for it (I wouldn't wait any longer than that for it). -
Undecided, if it's backwards compatiable I might get it but the price is the most important factor for me. I don't want to spend $250 or $300 (or more if it turns out to be $350+) on a new system so I'll probably wait for a price drop if it's expensive.

Copy A Coaster
YoshiFan replied to Coasterlicious's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It doesn't bother me. With the case of TTD and Kingda Ka, I won't be going to Cedar Point any time soon because it's about a 9 hour drive, Kingda Ka is about 1 1/2 hours away frome me. Even though the rides are basically the same, it allows me to experience the ride that I may not have had a chance to go on otherwise. -
I was there during the 2nd week of July last year. It was crowded but not so bad that you couldn't walk through the park like at Christmas. The major rides in Disney seemed to average about an hour to an hour and a half wait. Later in the day at the parks, the crowds seem to die down because with the extreme heat, people who were in the park all day usually can't take the heat anymore and leave (and least that's how it seemed to be last year), making the parks a lot less crowded after around 7 or 8.
