  1. Agree with you guys, but big fails does happen: - I heard that on the Seven Drawfs Mine Train, WDI didn't take in account the swinging motion from the car and built the scenery inside riders clearance envelope. They asked Vekoma to tighten the cylinder and tame the motion. - On Ratatouille, Imagineers realized only after the beginning of the construction that the costuming building will be visible from inside the land, while everyone was like "Chill out! How can they make such a mistake? Of course they had a plan!". - Speed Monster have some footers unused because misaligned. - Smiler. I do not say this is the case here, I just wanted to share these little stories (But kee in mind that's only what I heard and cannot guarentee their veracity).
  2. Oziris is one of the best opening ceremony I've ever seen (on the net). Featuring fireworks display, video mapping, fire and water fountains specially build for this occasion (they later became a long term display for a night show, but it wasn't originally planned). Also featuring sparkles on the back of the train! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-ZEx5W5-pI (Photo: Lacroix Ruggieri) Another one I loved was the one for Abyss, because they used a music by Globus, Preliator, and that music is pure epicness:
  3. Jerks and pacing does a lot to your feelings about the intensity.
  4. I agree it does look like similar, but there are as much differences as between a camel back and a zero-g roll. One is an inversion, one produce (lateral) airtime. Don't worry, none could have imagined the shape of FF vehicule beside those crazy Intamin guys!
  5. ^ I think I have worked with them myself, at least that's what I want to believe, haha. Upper pic: A picture I posted on their wall about a new element. Lower pic: That same element in the upcoming Kolmården wooden! (I know that's more than probably a coincidence, but let me dream, shall we? It already happened with the Banana roll, though back then I didn't sent the idea to Gerstlauer)
  6. ^ Seems rational, otherwise they wouldn't drop it three time with the same problem... Moreover, those cylinders have a grip on their ends that can be opened, there are not tied to the seats
  7. Awesome pictures and video Hanno! Thanks a lot. Hey look, it seems that none of the wheels are touching the track!
  8. That's a very cute area indeed, I especially love what they did with the mini-flume, while most parks have only a plastic canal out of the ground. That is a trashcan that aspires everything you put around the half-circle of the bucket. Pretty fun! And moreover, it has smoke, sound effects and bubbles.
  9. A closer shot of the now complete dive loop: Source This picture was took on 4/16 though, wonder what progress they made since.
  10. One already tested the ride... with the tilt! Looks kind of slow at the moment, don't know if it's meant to be that way. And the "back to normal" transition looks brutal.
  11. I updated the station with a real roof: _________________ As an extra, here is a prototype I made the other day: This is the launch. And the brake run. This is the lift. And the brake run. Confused?.. This is the very first coaster that is able to run the track on both directions! Choose your side: Lift? Or launch? And you guessed it: when one train is on the layout, the other is waiting on its station thanks to a transfert track. If you choose the lift side, take a place in the orange train (currently boarding here). The transfert track will slide and align with the track. Climb up the lift, weee all over the airtime hills and turns, then get slowed down and get back to station. If you choose the launch side, take your seat in the red train. The launch will give you enough power to fly over the layout and get up at the top of the lift hill. Get back slowly to the station by the slope. This is for visual only and doesn't work in NL2, yet I am able to test the layout on both directions.
  12. Walibi Rhône Alpes (France) is currently making a few changes to their iconic Vekoma Boomerang that opened in 1988. Here it is, plain ol' Boomerang: But for 2014, Walibi proudly (I hope not) presents EqWalizer! Wow looks flashy! WOW it IS flashy! Seriously?! I think I like what WH did with Speed of Sound better. At least it's shiny! The good news is that they're getting a new train, from SAT Rides. Who rode the Boomerang at the Wiener Prater, or Teststrecke? Are they comfortable? The lap-bar looks intimidating... Yay for the audio system! Hopefully it will be as loud as on Speed of Sound, the sound was pretty good (at least in station and during the lifts). Moar pink!! (Source) By the way, have you ever noticed that the SAT Rides train uses the same seat design as the Zierer's ESC coasters?
  13. Sorry for the double post. Here is a new article about our media day (April 4) : Click here It's in french, but anyways it doesn't say anything new. But the pictures are nice, so I thought I'd share. This is the park hotel. You can't unlike its decoration. The first drop is nice. That last transition always looked weird for me (but rides fine actually, no lats). And it's even worse in this shot: it looks like the last car derailed! That's unfortunate, because I'm in it (second to last row, right seat). The ride, as seen from another ride. Random cool shot. This is the nephew of the owners. It's mainly thanks to him that we have Alpina Blitz (and maybe others hotness in the future). That's a good guy. "Who's the good guy?" Where's the boat ride?! No, here's it's a walk-through. Here's a television crew (D8) with Erick, the man with over 1800 credits. Replacing light bulbs is a serious business. Action shot. Weee! I'm getting back at the park on April 26.
  14. Am I the only one to find the vehicules very ugly? First, it looks like a cheap wild-mouse wagon, and then, it does look like anything but the rats in the movie!... (Screenshot of the above video seen on DisneyCentralPlaza) I'm not fond of the entrance bilboard either. Looks rather bland and flat... and big. (Source) Well, it's still going to be a great ride I'm sure! I think I'll try not to look at pictures from the inside anymore to be truely amazed once on board.
  15. Sorry if it has been posted before, but that... "panel"? is pretty original! Montaña Rusa - Acuaparque de la Caña
  16. Mack isn't responsable for the layout, a manufacturer do whatever the customer wants. See the family B&M... P. Gélis, the owner of Nigloland, adapted the layout of Piraten to his park (see the model) because he really loved that ride. He went to see both Intamin and Mack. The maintenance pieces on the Mack are cheaper and easier to ship, the seats are better (allows bigger persons), and they have a good relationship with this family... They choose Mack over Intamin for these reasons. So Mack did that layout, but it could have been Intamin. -- I agree the first part of the ride could have been more powerful indeed. But the second one is really great. Don't forget that the seats are higher than Intamin's, and so the S-turn are snappier than they look. About the speed, the ride gains 8 seconds between the start and the end of the day! Can't wait for the hot summer days! Another cool thing here is that plateform. While not being particularly beautiful, it allows wheelchairs to go on both sides of the station, and even more interesting, it allows the ride to run with only one operator on slow days, as he can now check the restraint on both side, or see what's wrong here or there. It's a special request from the park, and I think it's a very good idea. (Source)
  17. Amazing pictures, thanks a lot Hanno! The ride is so pretty with such a blue sky behind. The area still look rather unfinished, but don't worry, grass and ornaments will pop up soon. And next year, the park called Neverland for some proper theming!
  18. Oh I know! Can't wait to have your impressions on that new german hotness... And don't miss the breakfast at the Hotel des Pirates, it's wonderful!
  19. Finally, here it is! I promised something unprecedented, I proudly present the first ever Gyro POV on a coaster! Feel the turns and twists as never before with a more comfortable view for you in front of your computer screen.
  20. Oh look! What was that? (screenshot seen on coastersworld.fr) Is this a ghost, or... oh my. A train! Woohoo!
  21. Holy moly, this ride uses an element similar to one I designed over a year ago. Now I know why this ride wiil be awesome! Back then I posted that pic on their Facebook and they put a LIKE..!
  22. The press conference been uploaded on Kolmården's YouTube, Robb.
  23. Hmmm, zdub is right. Robb tends to give us hints from time to time (remember when he quoted posts saying that might be a family ride), and that's true that every ride he talked about are from Intamin. Anyways we're getting dangerously closer to the announcement!
