The Shapiro Report
Token Yankee Guy replied to DerekRx's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I support Shapiro with his ideas on making the parks a much better place, but I have a personal belief that changes don't happen overnight. A lot of people are expecting changes overnight, which did happen a bit but still, takes a while for the idea to get through the thick skulls of some of the employees. Also, SFI should really crack down more on the rowdyness of the teenagers in the parks like kicking them out and issuing maybe a temporary ban from the park. Maybe that will prevent them from coming back. Of course, families will need to do their part in helping in the reporting of bad behavior of other patrons. -
That's a bunch of bull, people said the world was going to end on 9-9-99 and 6-6-06 and the world was going to end when homosexual people were allowed the right to get married. *checks* we're still here.

^ SFNE has great operations and a good group of employees that work there. Shapiro also commented how SFNE was one of the nicest parks in the chain with friendly employee's, and it's true, out of the 10 visits so far I never had one bad day or where I've seen employees having behavior issues. And when I was at SFGAdv their operations were going swell also, even one of the ride supervisors asked how my day was going and how the operations were that day (I was wearing a TPR shirt) then he gave my friend and I direct access onto Nitro for a ride. -

I assume that SFMM does read your site, so I'm hoping that the management of SFMM does read this thread and realize that they got some issues that need to be resolved. Because I would hate too see a park the size of SFMM just vanish off the map if shapiro does decide to proceed with the plan and have the park sold off. I agree with you, when I was also there for the West Coast Bash, I found the operations to be running smoothly, plus with management giving us our exclusive ride time on X when we didn't get it in the morning was great. It's a shame everything has just gone downhill. -
I remember watching some documentary on North Korea, and they did a segment on the death of Kim-Il-Sung and the funeral and all the citizens were sobbing uncontrolably, they even mentioned that some people died for crying way too much because he died. It was a very interesting documentary.

No, I mean going above and beyond what they're supposed to do. For example. I think they might already have something in place because I know at SFNE, we have those cards all over the place where you can write an employees name down if they went above and beyond to make your day a whole lot better. I'm not saying they should get bonuses for something they're supposed to do in general. -
Photo TR: Derek rides El Toro
Token Yankee Guy replied to DerekRx's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Interesting, when I was at the park last Thursday, they didn't tell me that I couldn't bring my own lapbar down, I brought my own bar down and they pushed it slightly to make sure it was secure. Also with the dispatches, yeah that is a bit of a wait when they got two ride attendents checking the restraints, when the ride opened for the day on thursday, they had four attendents checking restraints and I found that to be very efficient because at some points they were able to dispatch the train in the station before the other train stop right before entering the station. Anyway, good TR Derek, I enjoyed reading your opinion on El Toro. -

Wow, those operations are pretty sh*ty. No wonder Snyder put it on the list. I'm surprise SFI doesn't offer it's employee's incenstives for being good employees. Like a bonus or something. -
My 4th of July consisted of setting off legal fireworks with the neighbors on the street. And our finale was setting off one of the illegal kinds that shot 16 shots into the air. Well, never set one of these on an upside trash can because it started shooting towards us and the neighbors yard just like last year!

No, it's real, Wales has some very interesting language, but all in all it's a very nice place. I visited Llangollen when I was over there and I found it to be very nice. Great Photo TR Tom. That looks to be some killer coaster. -
What Airline do you fly?
Token Yankee Guy replied to FlippyTrick09's topic in Random, Random, Random
I've mostly flown on United, my Dad has frequent flyer miles with them and a few other carriers since he travels a lot. The downside to United (and most airlines) is the leg room, I'm tall and most of the height is in the legs so the economy seating sure is cramping for me. -

^ Too much information Guy, lol. As for the comics, they're are good, I wasn't expecting Derek to be killed off. -
(I'm putting my El Toro review at the top so if anyone just wants to read it, they don't need to read everything else to get to it) I actually had a bit of mixed feelings with this coaster. I heard a lot of people saying how the airtime is much more intense than Superman: Ride of Steel, but when I rode it, it felt that it had the same amount of airtime experience as Superman: Ride of Steel. So for me it's a bit hard to tell which ride beats the other one. But I will say that the back seat of El Toro is a lot of fun and the hill that goes over Rolling Thunder really does throw you out of your seat. Also I couldn't believe how smooth and quiet the coaster was for a wooden coaster, those pre-fabricated tracks are really really nice. (Now the rest of the TR) From Wednesday until Today I was down at Pennsylvania so I could hit up Knoebels and Six Flags Great Adventure. But with many problems on Wedensday, I botched trying to get to Knoebels and just went straight to my grandparents house to hit up SFGAdv on Thursday. And it's a damn good thing I didn't try getting to Knoebels on Wednesday because I found out today they were flooded anyways. On Wednesday, I originally planned on driving down to PA at 8am, but due to the combination of heavy downpours, my car deciding it wanted it's transmission flushed, and locking my keys in the car at the house, I didn't leave until 4pm, and by that time the skies had cleared up and I just went directly down to my grandparents house. On Thursday we got over to SFGAdv and I noticed their premium parking is $20, that's $5 dollars cheaper than SFNE's, so my friend Hunter and I shelled out the extra 5 bucks to park closer to the gate so we can get our Gold Flash Pass which proved to be very useful. During our time at the park, the crowds were moderate, both Kingda Ka and El Toro had maybe a hour and 1/2 wait and both coasters were running two trains, so that wasn't all that bad. Another thing that was really cool was when Hunter and I boarded the Congo Rapids, one of the ride supervisors that was their noticed my TPR T-Shirt and he commented how he's visited the site before, so I thought that was cool and we went on our merry way on the raft ride to get completely drenched. When we got off we ran into him again (His name was Adam if I'm correct) and he asked me how our day was and how the operations were going, and I said that they were going well. Then he asked me if we had ridden Nitro yet, we said 'yes' and he asked if we wanted to ride it again. So he walked us up to Nitro and put us on one of the trains without waiting. (We sat in a row where there was only two riders anyway) Now onto the photos And to end the TR, a picture of turtles having sex while families are watching Another Skyline shot That girl and her b/f have the coolest hair ever! Plus we rode behind them on Rolling Thunder and they were really cool and funny. Hunter got really wet on Water Effect. Thanks to me wearing my TPR-Shirt, Adam (i hope that's his name) one of the ride supervisors gave us direct access onto Nitro for a ride. I really appreciated the generosity, thanks man! Boardwalk section of the park from the Skyway. Typical El Toro photo from across the lake photo. That's bull how SFGAdv has the Pilsner refill, yet SFNE discontinued theirs El Toro station. Plus, I love the way how they control the flow of people into the station so it doesn't get packed in there. El Toro looks better with the station than Viper ever did El Toro Sign Both Kingda Ka and El Toro standing proud over Rolling Thunder They now have you wait at the fountain and they don't let you go after the dance number which by the way has a better song than SFNE's dance number Walking to the main gate of SFGAdv on Thursday Finally on the road driving down Route 8 Expressway on Wednesday

Good TR Erik, I hope you enjoyed some of the parks up here, now you gotta come back up to get the rest. -

I was just watching NBC 30 news and they talked about the SF plan, and the newscaster noted that the idea is either to sell or close the parks and pull off a Six Flags Astroworld plan. Close, sell the rides, and sell the land for real estate profit. Ok, I can see SFDL and SFEG being closed, but how could they close SFMM? That seems too big of a park and too big of a loss to close and sell off the rides....plus with the addition of Tatsu, how can that be relocated to another park since I'm pretty sure that coaster was designed for the terrian of SFMM.

woooo!! First, talks of releasing Futurama movies right to DVD, and now this!!! the same way Family Guy got cancelled, they moved it off the Sunday Lineup to like thursday, then back, then started to rarely show new episodes.

What stupid thing have you done?
Token Yankee Guy replied to SLUSHIE's topic in Random, Random, Random
Probably the most stupidest thing I ever done was get a job at Wal*Mart up at school. Wow, that's when I hit a new low and ever since I quit, I still feel dirty. Oh Yeah, and at my job here in Connecticut at Stop & Shop, I commented on a customer on if she did something new to her hair. Turns out it wasn't one of my regular customers I thought it was and just some complete stranger. Wow, was I embaressed.
