  1. Hopefully the park keeps up with the pattern of replacing a ride with another ride. A family ride would be nice back there seeing it's a family area.
  2. Their FAQ is a huge joke: How does Amusement Today choose the winners? Amusement Today relies on a panel of voters from all over the world consisting of experienced park enthusiasts. Sure So how are the winners chosen? For roller coasters, we ask that each voter submit a list of their top 10 coasters — wood and steel — in order from one to ten, taking into consideration the overall experience including capacity, operations, reliability and re-rideability. That explains all of the B&MS.
  3. If they re-programmed it they could get it right. That is if the ride has two separate gear boxes and they were DC drive. Then the chains can run at different speeds and sync up the trains.
  4. I still think Millennium Force is a great ride, but come on. There are many coasters that I can name off the top of my head that one can argue are much better rides. Not only Bizarro, but I think all three Superman clones blow it out of the water. Even Maverick or Skyrush cannot crack the top 10. We need the Mitch poll back pronto. At least there stuff counts for what it's really worth.
  5. Here it is... Other than this the ride is pretty much untouched. One of the panels in front of the motor housing has been removed, and there is a large hose laying in front of the cabin. It possibly could be to remove hydraulic oil from the system. Probably a good chance the ride will be completely gone by next year.
  6. ^Yep, I went today for my father's company picnic, and I had an amazing time despite the rain and cold. Probably one of my best visits this year because of no wait times. I found some interesting things today... Kudos to the operators, maintenance, and the lifeguards (who were forced to work today despite the weather) for friendly great service. RoS was struggling all day but maintenance was fighting through the delays. Due to the wet weather the train kept overshooting the gates and needed to be reset. Somebody also almost got Raptored hopping the fence to save a coupon for a free popcorn. The ride was somewhat painful because of the rain hitting me in the face. Twister is also back open. It seems like the gondola brakes have been fixed because the car was stopping and I got a good cycle with 5 flips. The interesting part of today's trip was that all of Ranger's signage is now gone. The switchbacks also are gone and there is a seating/smoking area there now. I'll post a picture later. All together, a very good day. I'm pressed for time now and will post more later.
  7. I think the problem is that most of them are built too big. Shows in theme parks have been losing popularity, and people have been coming more for the rides and water park than anything. When the parks want to build a new attraction, amphitheaters take up a large amount of room and are a good choice for removal. It's all about popularity vs running costs.
  8. ^ It did but right under it it said DEMO.
  9. RMC has 4 big projects this year and they personally build all of them. It's no surprise to me that they're kicking into high gear to make sure they're all finished on time.
  10. Lol I think that Valleyfair just wants to see this thread explode. Hundreds of pages of rambling on about a new coaster, and how underappreciated the park is, and now these teasers. Sounds to me like a Flying Scooter ride themed as a bird. If you get a Frisbee with it, that would be a giant plus and one of the best rides at the park. I'm sure many people will still complain though. Look how much crap people gave KD about it; and this is a park that could really use it.
  11. I have no problem with the few dollar increase, but we better be getting at least something new next year; new owners or not.
  12. I don't care either way. I was tempted to say new because I like how comfortable they are and I've never had any issues with them. However, I never had a problem with the old restraints either. Both versions for me have virtually no headbanging and are comfortable.
  13. Unless it's something small, VF isn't getting a new coaster for a while yet. There are other larger parks who will get one first, then the small parks will be catered to. Cedar Fair will give coasters to those parks that have the attendance/profit to pay it back quickly.
  14. One of my pipe dreams is once Marineland's owner passes on, the park is retransformed into a modern day Crystal Beach. Crystal Beach should have never died.
  15. Welp, my boss picked the perfect day to have a surprise meeting.... But it was worth the wait. This is going to be one hell of an addition. I love the little plaza that interacts with the ride and the vest restraints. Another great job done by CP! Can't wait to get out there and ride it next year.
  16. ^I don't think any of this has to do with that. It was determined that she had a pre-existing condition, and the ride was mechanically sound at the time of the incident. The upgrades are to make the ride better, and hopefully attract more interest from people.
  17. Timberliners are very nice looking trains. GG did a great job with the design of these. I think one of the smaller features I like is the Timberliner logo imprinted in the seat. Too bad Holiday World couldn't make these work out.
  18. At first I was excited for the Bizarro transformation, but I have to agree with this. Once the effects stopped working and the audio ruined the ride, it became more unenjoyable and the scenery made it cluttered. Hopefully the re-transformation will make it top the list once again, because IMO any of the three Superman clones is better than Millennium Force.
  19. Martin's Fantasy Island removed their log flume a couple of years ago to put a KMG Speed in (which wasn't bad it just took up so little space). The Speed only lasted one season, now nothing stands there.
  20. Good god, it's a pre-lift section. What is it supposed to do? Launch you 60 mph through an inversion into the lift? Just be glad you're getting this awesome coaster.
  21. I think that a water park addition is very much needed. For me there's really nothing to do in the water park, as there is only one slide complex. A drop tower would also be nice, especially from Intamin. They need to build their trust back up in the US.
  22. The HUSS Top Spins are starting to die like crazy. The problem is that they don't age well at all. There's too many parts to keep up on, they almost always have features chopped off of them, and their structures have been prone to cracking and corroding. You would have to think that soon HUSS will come out with a second gen top spin like they did with the Condor and Enterprise.
  23. Do you think the fact that I305 has OSTRs as opposed to the T-bars have anything to do with the fact that the first generation Intamin hyper cars are not big-person friendly speaking from my experience with MF? It's definitely more of an intensity thing. Like Maverick, I305 has a lot of quick shuffles from side to side so the OTSRs are more or less to keep the riders' torsos in place. You wouldn't want to feel like a ragdoll on those coasters. The Intamin first-gen hypers all had the T-bar restraints which can be uncomfortable for anyone, especially larger riders. MF was actually the only one that didn't install side brackets on the lap bars. Those are horrible. The second generation trains (except Bizarro) have a different style T-bar that is more comfortable. Top thrill Dragster actually has these. Another fact, Megafobia at Oakwood was vaguely based off of Darien Lake's Predator according to John Wardley. CCI chose to add more turns and crossovers.
  24. ^All of those have second generation trains due to their flatter design and zero cars.
